Have you guys seen this thread on the subreddit today?
OP suggests that fanfic involving EasyCGI and Docamera would be hilarious. I agree that would be pretty funny. But then there's BTC's comments. I'm somewhere between wondering how much he's seen (meaning does he know about us), being a little disheartened by his reaction, and remembering that we're bound to get that kind of reaction from some people. And cue segue into another 4 page pseudo-academic essay about the nature of fanfic and how it's perceived by the people it's about.

FanFiction
Date: Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 11:36 pm (UTC)I use to hate the stuff. I thought it was weird, and poorly written, and had no point. It was like daydreaming, only in a public venue, and why would I want people to know my daydreams?
I made fun of my own sister because of this. She read the stuff a lot (I think for Axis Powers Hetalia). It baffled me why she'd read it.
Then I got older, and realized well, that's sort of cruel to just discount a whole community because I disliked it. And so I went on a reading spree. And found it's not all horrible. (also I had come to terms with sex in general, so reading sexy things wasn't as uncomfortable)
So I understand why some people dislike it. And support that if they don't want to read it, they don't have to. I do understand that it's cruel to just say outright it's terrible. It would be better to say large chunks of the internet are terrible! Well, maybe.
Sorry if this is long or terrible itself.
