Sorry this is so late, did I miss the deadline by accident? Some of the bits aren’t as emotional as I wanted them to be either, but never mind. (I am aware that they flew the wrong way around the world, too) Also, I do not watch Nebris often, so that bit isn’t that good, really.
I got my prompt from queenofderps - A group of the Mindcrackers are on their way to a convention but the plane crashes. A sort of survival AU, but realistic.

EDIT: It is edited without Boo in now.

Aureylian’s head throbbed as she opened her eyes. The plane was unusually dark and she couldn’t hear the throb of the engines underneath her anymore. Her legs wobbled and instead of standing up, she fell down back into her seat, the unpleasant, metallic taste of blood on her lips. She didn’t dare take in her surroundings yet, she just knew that she would panic and wracked her muddled brain with her eyes closed:

Shouts, screams, jumbled voices. Raised heart rates and emergency landings. Blood, tears and blackout.

They stood behind glass screens, away from the crowds and usual airport traffic, it seemed even more pristine than the usual, sterilized, artificial white of the bigger terminals.
“So where did Guude manage to get us a private jet?” The two redheads leant against the wall by the doors and watched as a mop of blue hair and a decidedly orange suit, some would say too orange, bobbed towards them.

“How are you guys doing? It’s a shame we can’t pick Milbee and Pyro up on the way, oh, and Doc and Anders too, they would have loved all this cool corporation and private jet stuff.”
“Yeah, but God knows how much Guude is paying for this, I don’t think we can really stop by on the way.” Chad was not usually known for being the voice of reason in any situation, but everyone was too pumped up to notice. MC and Chad stood chatting, so Aurey turned the other way, only to notice yet another blue messy crop of hair peeking around the corner. She was about to shoo him away, but realized she recognized the face-

“Hi Rellykins!”

And the voice too. A surprise, indeed, but she wasn’t sure if it was good or bad quite yet…
“Does Guude know that you were planning to come?”

“Yep, all sorted out. Do you like my hair?” He proceeded to pull the neon blue wig from his head, revealing the slightly neater, thick, black hair that made his face look paler, adding to the contrast caused by the bright lights hanging from the ceiling. He stared, slightly confused at the small, light brown ball of fluff sat at Aureylian's ankle. It responded with a yap. “I thought we could actually try to convince some people that my hair was blue. Is Boo coming? Or is that thing going to be your company?”

“Pretty much, and of course you guys will be there too.” She picked up the dog that she was taking to a friend with a smile, neither she nor anyone else could work out how to be serious when Vechs was around, not that it was a bad thing, of course. This was setting up to be a great holiday: London, her friends and the fans, obviously.

They filed on to the plane, the excitable puppy jumping by her side up the clunky metal stairs onto the small jet. She took a seat next to Vechs, right by the aisle. Takeoff was normal for her, she travelled so much now, but the dog seemed quite startled by the G-force and yapped excitedly as they were pushed back into their seats. Excitement started to get to her as they cruised in the sky, and she soon dozed off to the sound of the whirring engine…

Aureylian opened her eyes and adjusted to the darkness of the plane. Silence engulfed her, along with grief as she realized that nobody around her was breathing; there were no reassuring gasps of breath coming from the still bodies to her left. She turned her head to them, not wanting to take in the beautiful light brown curls, matted with ruby red blood, the still, glazed eyes staring up to the metal shell of the ceiling. She couldn't bear to see the dog's perfect smooth hair distorted by lines of dark red running down its neck, rivers of red tears. Past the small, still, four legged figure sat the taller Vechs, neck bent forwards, as if he was reading a book or concentrating on his tablet, but there was no bright glow coming from his lap, nor a book propped on his knees. The swathe of midnight black hair was no more tousled than usual, almost convincing Aurey that she could lean over and shake him awake, end this nightmare. Because that is what it was, just some horrible dream that she would wake up from, soon enough, right? She would feel the throb of the plane engines again, everything would be alright.

As she ran from the plane, she caught glimpses of other heads, brown hair, blonde and a speck of red among the crowd, all still, unmoving. She heard not one reaction as her steps thudded down the aisle, towards the gash in the plane that separated the cockpit from the deathly passengers.

Once she was out in the open, the sunshine beating down on her shoulders and neck, she ran. Ran like something was chasing her, the grief and death spiralling in tendrils from the aircraft, trying to snag her mind and bring her thoughts back to the horrors inside of the plane. She didn’t care if she snagged her clothes or stubbed her toes as she ran into the forest, away from everything. She collapsed into a clearing with the greens and browns swirling around her, and a flash of red and grey. Wait… red and grey?

Nebris sat on one of the benches, headphones blocking out the buzz in the air created by the other people in the room. Of course, nobody really wanted to interact with him, so instead he was waiting for the flight attendants to usher them onto the claustrophobic tin cylinder that was supposed to fly them all the way across the Atlantic Ocean. As he boarded the plane, music still blaring in his ears, he noted that it was quite small to be getting all of them across to England, however he was sure that there was surely some piece of technology that made it more efficient or something. Sometimes overly logical brains could be a burden. He chose a seat right at the front of the plane, in one of the luxurious seats that he had reserved beforehand, settling down for the long haul flight. At least the public weren’t on this plane, thank god. He could do without small children shouting if he was trying to work…

Darkness, fire, screeching metal. Throbbing body, warm blood and blackout.

His chest rose with effort, then fell again, jerking Nebris back to consciousness. A large sheet of metal lay on top of him, obscuring most of his body from the shoulders down and cutting the skin on his upper arms. Slowly and carefully, he twisted his palms upwards and pushed the shell off of his torso. Once he was free, he grabbed his backpack and took in his surroundings, instantly analysing for any clues to his location. The waves rolled in high on to the grey sands, and he could see the brightness in the clouds where the sun was, which would make it early evening. The whole island had a subdued colour to it, as if somebody had watered all their paints down whilst painting the scene. It occurred that he hadn’t bothered to find any survivors; he would have to look the next day, now it was his priority to build a shelter. He dragged some of the metal and a few sturdy logs to the high tide line and draped some of the large palm leaves over the top.

Traveling always made him tired, Nebris reflected as he drifted off in to a fitful sleep on the sand.

A growling stomach woke Aurey up from where she had collapsed in exhaustion on the mossy ground, dew in her hair that was cleaning the dried blood from it. As she turned over, she found a wooden bowl filled with bright red and orange berries as well as a fruit or large nut with a red spiky shell. The forest was just waking up around her, she could hear screeches and caws, the animals unaware that she was there until she picked herself, rustling the branches that brought drips of water onto her cold skin.

Sitting on a log, she ate the mysterious gifts without question while evaluating her situation: Had anybody survived? Probably not, she thought, trying not to think back to the still bodies in that wreck. She could feel the dark tendrils creeping through her mind, trying to drag her back down to the state of panic and despair she had not quite left behind yet, that she could not visit until she was out of danger. Who knew what could lurk between the trees deeper in? That said, she had no idea where she was, and the sunlight was barely filtering through the thick green foliage above her. Far better to find her mysterious donor than dwell on her lost friends.

The forest closed behind her, leaving almost no trace of where she came from apart from a small trail in the dead leaves. Looking up above her, she could just make out a massive tree, towering higher into the sky than any of the others. That was where she would be likely to find something, or at least see where she was, or the lay of the island. She started weaving through the undergrowth, catching glimpses of snakes, monkeys and the occasional colourful bird.

After a while, she turned around thinking that she had heard a rustling behind her, but she could not see anything unusual, so she turned and carried on, not noticing the stripes of dark orange shifting behind her, and the green eyes watching, unblinking and alert.

-

Nebris had decided to check out the massive tree that could be seen, looming from the centre of the island, rather than stick around the beach, which had nothing much to offer for his survival. He glanced over at the wreck that lay on the shore, and decided that now was not the right time. He also noticed that something had stolen his bag while he was sleeping, which meant he now had no other supplies as he started his trek through the forest, being careful not to touch many leaves – he had heard about plants that cause you excruciating pain and was sensible enough to try and avoid that occurrence.

The further into the forest he got, the more often he could hear rustles in the undergrowth behind him. At first, he dismissed them as just animals going about their usual business, but the feeling he was being followed was creeping up on him and invading his thoughts. He came to another clearing and decided to set a trap, just in case. Several vines were hanging from the trees skirting the clearing, and Nebris tied some together to make a noose which he hung from the branch over where he had entered the clearing.
‘Now to just sit and wait’ he thought, not noticing the red eye peeking from behind a bush

Something was following Aureylian, she was sure of it. Yet, she didn’t want to break into a run, because that would definitely provoke it, and she didn’t like the idea of being ripped to shreds by whatever monstrous creature was stalking her. Instead, she crept towards the patch of light that she could see in front of her. Once in the clearing, she would climb a tree and hope that whatever she was fleeing from would lose her.

She stepped into the clearing and was swept off of her feet, letting out a shriek. A blur of orange and black leapt towards her with a roar. Something whistled past her ear, stopping the tiger just inches from her face, its massive eyes staring into hers. A young man with grey hair and a red eye emerged from the undergrowth, and slit the trap that Aureylian was caught in in one, smooth motion. Nebris noticed that the man had his blue backpack on, and was just about to confront him, but Aurey noticed him and shouted “Nebris! You’re alive?”

It was true, he had been surprised that Aureylian had gotten out of the wreck, but the mysterious man intrigued him more. Except that he had disappeared. Not trace was left of him and his red eye, and Nebris was compelled to find him, but now was not the time.
They sat in the clearing in companionable silence for many minutes, neither wanting to bring up the topic of their lost friends, but neither wanting to leave the other. Eventually, they both walked together, in silence, off into the forest, not caring where they went too much. They would survive, they could forget.

Aurey has requested in the past that she generally prefers Boo not be involved in fics, so in keeping with her wishes, would it be possible for you to edit out that portion of the story?

You can see her tweet here for a more recent statement regarding Boo in fanfics :) https://twitter.com/aureylian/status/602156824180097025

This was lovely! I would have never thought of putting Nebris and Aurey together.

Also, about Boo, I agree with editing it out. Possibly keeping Vechs remark, but changing Boo out with an unusual piece of luggage, strange hat, a pet, or even a different Mindcracker in a cage. (Mostly joking about the cage!)
