Well I was a little bored, and I just watched some of Jsano's videos recently, so have a short fic.
The noise--that's what Jsano always remembers when he looks back. There was constantly a consistent hum of background noise, even while he slept. The sound of footsteps dancing through the hello's, the good-bye's, and the small talk in between. Noise interspersed with shouts and laughter. Chaotic racket even finding a home among the softer sounds of the world. The rain completed the symphony of sound, filling in lulls found in the noise. But--
"Now it's just me, and the rain." He sighed, but one of Jsano's dogs barked, followed by a misshapen chorus from the pets strewn around Jsano's storage room. Jsano couldn't help but grin, "Well, and these guys. I mean, you guys are good company, I can't argue with that. And you know, I've never noticed, but, the hum from the Nether portal, it's actually quite a relaxing sound! In fact, it's so peaceful around here, I don't have to worry about not being able to sleep...what else can I ask for?" Jsano paused, lingering on the question.
Meanwhile, the noises continued. The muted sound of rain falling above ground. The indescribable humming of the nearby portal. The quiet pants and breathing from the cats and dogs. Soft shuffling noises as Jsano walked from chest to chest, and the slow but satisfying creak of chests opening. Random tings and bumps as he rummaged through his belongings, sorting them. He listened to his own breathing as well, and his heart continued its rhythmic pounding.
Jsano had to admit, it was never quiet. But without the footsteps, without the activity, every day seemed to be another day to look back instead of forward. And where his heart yearned for contact, only silence filled it.
