mindcracklove | I'm new, here's some Beef(and Pause, plus Nebtho!)

Hello! Well here goes nothing! I had my friend post this fic for me originally on WattPad but she convinced me to get an account and post it here.

"Shh! Pause! This is a break in! Not be as loud as you can in!" The ninja was sneaking around the back of Beef's house, the native trailing closely behind.

"Fuck off Etho. You know I'm clumsy!" Pause whined, tripping on a clump of poppies. Under the white hair in the mask, Etho was grinning. Pause raised his eyebrows at what seemed like a giggle in front of him, but dismissed the sound for his nerves. 'Missions' like this always got his nerves going, and it didn't help that he hadn't slept in a few days.

Etho was already at the birch door, deftly picking the basic lock when Pause managed to meet up with him in the darkness. The lock clicked, allowing the door to glide open. The kitchen torch was blown out, the remnants of the butchers dinner still left out on the counter. A plate full of bread crumbs and fatty juices made a growl emit from Pauses stomach, even though the only actual food left on the plate was a sad wilted carrot.

"I told him to eat his vegetables! I swear his eating habits will be the death of himself!" Pause opened the chest that acted as a food storage unit and pulled out a loaf of bread, munching on the crust. Etho mimicked Pause, a hidden face of delight on his face.

"Beef should totally be a baker instead of a butcher. This stuff is delicious!" Etho had already devoured half of the roll, and looked as if he could eat two more. He stuffed the last bite in his mouth before turning back to Pause. "So where are we going to hide the cats again?"

"Etho! We aren't hiding cats! We've already done that. Now help me set up the trap." Pause started dumping things out of his pockets, just simply letting them clatter to the ground. One would wonder why Beef hadn't woken up by now if they didn't know his sleeping habits. To be fair to Etho, you could only faintly hear the sound of the cats meowing.

The two diligently worked on assembling all the tiny gears and toggles, well past midnight when they stopped for a break, done with the trap, only having to set the bait.

"Etho, why did you agree to do this mission with me?" The ninja turned his head in amusement of the question. He couldn't fathom why he would ask such a silly question. So he answered with a straight face, telling what he thought was the truth.

"Because your my friend Pause, I help my friends out with their crazy schemes to trap their crushes. That's just how I do!"

"What tra-whoa!" Beef screamed as he was slung up into the air by the pairs trap. "Goddamnit Pause! I just cleaned the floor too!"

"Goddamnit Pause!" The rope breaks, dropping Beef onto a panicking Pause. Beef slapped him before quickly giving he native a quick peck on the cheek, his face paint smearing.

Etho scrambles away leaving the two alone, and heads towards home. He ended up so lost in thought that he started towards the land owned Nebris instead.
