Whoo! Two updates in a day!

In chaos theory, there is a concept, that when a random butterfly flaps its wings somewhere in Africa, it will cause disruptions in the air that will eventually cause a hurricane to hit the Caribbean. For the most part, this “butterfly” effect is used metaphorically, as it happens here. Just as the butterfly does not directly cause the hurricane, neither does the Welshman’s departure from the community cause another key change from this world from ours. There was a collegue of Guude named Rob who used to collaborate on various games with each other, ranging from Garry’s Mod to Goldeneye: Source. During the middle of March, he had created a separate community called the Buffalo Wizards with his other friends, whose stage names are HCJustin, Deadbones, Spyd, Vankz, and, in this alternate world, Pause, who is also in Mindcrack. This subtle change, initially ignored within the community as insignificant because Pause, Guude, and Rob were all friends at the time, would eventually prove decisive to the future of the community. Indeed, it was under the influence of Pause that the Buffalo Wizards were to add Garry’s Mod: Prop Hunt to the collection of games and mods that the Buffalo Wizards are playing.

Six people were enough to play some very good games of both Prop Hunt and Garry’s Mod: Murder, a separate mod for Garry’s Mod, and five people were sufficient, and so for a month and a half, the community simply sat at six official members. When they added in Tabletop Simulator to their repertoire of games, it can be played with anywhere between two and eight players, so once again the number of people within the fledging community stayed the same. Finally, on 3 May 2014 Roamin was added to the community as well, after Vankz abruptly stopped producing videos.

Meanwhile, the six people, save for Vankz, expanded their horizons into other games as well. Beginning in the middle of April, Justin and Pause started streaming Counter Strike: Global Offensive together on Twitch. Even though Pause hasn’t played the game in over half an year and was very rusty, Justin wasn’t all that good as well, leading to a lot of comments on the terrible status of their skills that they laughed off while playing, and the beginnings of a closer friendship. Likewise, Justin and Spyd would start a co-op of Portal and Portal 2, and after stopping their Rust series because of the prolification of hackers, Pause and Rob would follow the steps of Justin and Spyd and also start an LP together of the Portal games.

Over on the Mindcrack side, there was also a collaboration of Garry’s Mod between certain members of that community, Guude, Pause, and two others known as Avidya and W92Baj. They have been playing together since around January, with Rob sometimes participating and sometimes not. In March, after much convincing by fans and by the four listed above, a man by the stage name of Coestar, who previously was taking a break from Youtube decided to come back onto the scene. With Rob gone for the week, and Pause having overslept once again, Avidya successfully convinced Coestar to join them as a guest for a couple rounds of Garry’s Mod. It was pretty easy for Avidya to do so, since they’ve been playing Garry’s Mod on Coestar’s Streamaday series, going strong since December of 2013. The first couple rounds were very successful, and such an enjoyable experience that Coestar decided to continue with Garry’s Mod. Later additions to this group were Zisteau, who only played with the group one week before calling it quits, Pyro, who originally played it back when it came out in 2013, and BTC, who served as a replacement for Avidya after he left the group in mid-April and who also played Garry’s Mod with Pyro when it came out in 2013. In mid-April as well, Coestar started an LP of Space Engineers with BTC, Guude, and Avidya.

By June, there were in fact eight people in both. In the Buffalo Wizards, it was Pause, Rob, Justin, Deadbones, Spyd, Roamin, newly added Nisovin, and a very inactive Vankz. In those Mindcrackers and associated persons playing Garry’s Mod, it was Guude, W92Baj, Pyro, Coestar, BTC, Rob, Pause, and newly added OMGChad. And when a few days later Baj announced that he was no longer participating in Garry’s Mod, they found a replacement in Juicetra, another friend of theirs who also previously played Garry’s Mod with Pyro and Pause.
