It had to be you -Nebtho
Tuesday, January 20th, 2015 09:19 pmI think I'm becoming addicted to writing Mindcrack fanfiction.
A little bit of Nebtho because why not. Takes place during UHC.
"It had to be you"
Nebris was a good UHC player. Everyone knew that. In fact, he'd won three out of the last four seasons. But now he was back. Etho. Nebris shivered as he thought about the other man. Shaking his head he resumed digging down. He was off to an excellent start. He had several apples that he could turn into golden apples, and a hefty supply of food. With no damage taken, he was cautious, but assured. The first day was ending and there was no deaths just yet. He smiled, proud of his friends. This was a solo UHC, so there would be no teaming up. There could be only one winner.
Etho POV:
Etho was mildly concerned. Not nervous, just concerned. He hadn't participated in UHC for quite some time. He wasn't sure why he came back to the game, maybe he had something to prove. He spent the better part of the day exploring and gathering feathers for arrows. As night fell he killed his first spider. Two more and he would have enough string for a bow. He thought over his opponents, being concerned over only two; PauseUnpause and Nebris. Pause had a habit of somehow killing Etho at every opportunity. Nebris had won most of the UHC competitions since Etho had stopped playing. That worried him. Nebris, with his cheaty hoarding ways had even managed a god apple a few seasons back.
Nebris POV:
Nebris was happily mining when the first death message appeared.
Aureylian hit the ground too hard.
He shook his head and sighed, continuing on. He couldn't let himself be distracted. Digging up some gold, he was delighted to find his first diamond behind it. It would be a good season.
A short time later, Nebris was smelting the gold for his first Apple when the next death message appeared.
Guude was blown up by creeper.
"Poor Guude." Nebris said aloud, as he completed the golden apple.
Morning came and Nebris ventured out. He wandered for a short time before spotting someone. He sneaked behind the player, deciding to get the first pvp kill. He swung his diamond sword, catching the other player by surprise. Milbee. He didn't stand a chance.
Milbee was slain by Nebris.
Nebris quickly picked up the gold Milbee had been carrying, moving on. He'd taken a small amount of damage, but wasn't concerned.
W92Baj was shot by PauseUnpause.
The game was progressing nicely. If he could guess, Nebris suspected a standoff between himself, BlameTC, Etho and PauseUnpause. Before long, Nebris heard a shout behind him. Turning around just in time to block AnderZel's attack. The two battled fiercely, Nebris narrowly winning. Consuming his golden apple he dug into a hill for the night, combining AnderZel's armor with his own on the anvil to offer better protection enchantments.
Vechs was shot by BlameTC.
The player count was quickly dropping, and Nebris was only half health after consuming two golden apples. Idly he wondered how his long time rival, Etho was doing. Nebris had lost a previous season because he underestimated him. He wouldn't make that mistake again.
By the fourth sunrise, only three remained. Nebris, Pauseunpause, and Etho. Nebris had managed to collect enough gold for one more apple, which he would save for the fight with Etho. He had a score to settle as he left the safety of the cave, searching for his nemesis.
Nebris stopped as an arrow zipped by him. He turned, seeing PauseUnpause some distance away. Ducking behind a tree he waited for him to get within melee range. Just as he prepared to strike, he spotted Etho. Nebris retreated, curious to see the outcome. It didn't take long for Etho and Pauseunpause to spot each other and soon they were wrapped in a drawn out bow battle. Seeing his opportunity, Nebris charged behind Pause, dropping his lava bucket. Pause fumbled, caught off guard.
PauseUnpause burned to death.
Out of arrows, Etho closed the distance. Their swords clashed, sparks flying.
"It had to be you." Etho's smooth voice taunted. Nebris offered his opponent a cheeky grin.
"Of course." Etho shoved hard, backing Nebris against the tree. He closed the distance, pressing his masked lips against Nebris'.
"Missed you too, Etho." With a grunt Nebris kicked the ninja off of him, sword to his side, ready to swing. Etho chuckled, bracing himself for the fight.
The reunion would have to happen after the victor was decided.
-end-
Meh, I don't like how this turned out. Figured I might as well post it, anyways.
