Anxiety [Nebtho]
Sunday, September 28th, 2014 08:48 pmI wrote this a few days ago after having a pretty bad anxiety attack... Having anxiety really sucks, and it's a common thing for me, which sucks even more, but writing helps. I wasn't going to post this, but I'm making myself since I haven't posted anything in a while and feel bad about it... It's rather short and probably isn't the best, but having it just sit in my desk wasn't doing it any good, so.
Enjoy :]
Gravel crunched under Etho’s feet as he ran up the path to his front door. Thunder cracked and lightning lit up the navy blue sky, causing shadows to dart across the lawn only to disappear a moment after. A steady downpour of rain pattered against the ground and plastered Etho’s clothes to his skin. Out of everything he could have forgotten to bring to work, it had to be his umbrella. He nearly tripped on the cement stairs before digging around in his pocket for his keys. He pushed his way through the front door and sighed with relief, the cold air prickled his skin. Etho pulled off his wet jacket and flicked on the lights. A familiar figure sat on his couch, unmoving.
“Nebris, what’re you doing here?”
Etho dropped his bag onto the floor and moved closer. Nebris looked over his shoulder and tried faking a smile. His face was pale and his hands were clenched together, resting on his shaky knees. His bottom lip was bloody from biting it, but he wiped it away with the back of his hand after Etho expressed a look of concern.
“Are you okay?” Etho sat down next to Nebris.
“I don’t know, I just--I thought it was over--but, now I can’t stop thinking about it.”
“Thinking about…” Etho hesitated.
“Yeah,” Nebris shook his head and scrunched his shirt sleeves in his fists. “I don’t know what to do anymore.”
“Is there anything I can do?”
“Just, tell me it’ll be okay.”
Nebris’s voice quavered when he said it, nearly causing Etho’s heart to drop. Etho wrapped his arms around him and tried to comfort him. Nebris took a deep breath in and gripped Etho’s shoulders, leaving purplish marks where his fingers dug into his shirt.
“It will be,” Etho responded quietly.
I'll try to get something longer out soon, promise ;\
