Thursday, August 7th, 2014 09:16 amSo once again, Freezy's travelin so enjoy her story! Happy to help!
(Etho's POV)
The hot fall sun pounded down onto my head. The trees around me were still without a breeze to stir them. I headed towards the stables that Nebris and I had built, Aurey was still little so Vechs had to babysit her. Inside the stable Taylor Swift, Liquid Paper, Justice, and Fwappa Derp. The barn was full of happy memory's but it had never seen a bad one. Liquid Paper stared at me solemnly. I wondered if she knew. The first bad memory was being made. My feet took me to the horse. The pure white animal was still staring at me intently as if to say "Where's Beef?".
"Beefs dead." I numbly told it. It gave a small whinny and snort. A small sob escaped me. I felt like curling up and giving in. Letting my fire die. I slid to the floor. The barn spun. My head throbbed. The three words seemed impossible. They simply didn't fit together. They circled my mind and I couldn't stop them. Time stopped mattering. Time didn't matter nearly as much as the words. As the late afternoon light faded, my fire dimmed. Beef was dead. Long arms circled me. A whiff of lavender let me know who it was.
"Come on, let's go back. The others are worried." Nebris's warm breath tickled my ear. I nodded. Nebris pulled me up and gave me a hug.
"Be strong. Don't give up." I nodded again, this time more reluctantly. I gave Beef's old steed one last stroke before heading towards the house. The normal welcoming glow was suddenly sad and forlorn. I pushed open the door. The people inside the house weren't much better than the house. Aurey started to get up but Vechs shook his head. I ran down the hall and up the stairs to my room. Nebris followed close behind me. I slammed the door in Nebris's face. It broke my heart to do it. It really did. But I needed to face this alone. Beef was dead and no one could change it. And I hadn't even thought about Pause. Pause might still be alive. I could save him! But I swore to King Guude that I would leave the kingdom and protect Aureylian at all costs. Aurey would save the kingdom when the time came. Pause couldn't interfere. It felt like a slap to the face. But my sacrifice would save Mindcrack.
