The Boulderfist - Chapter 4 - The Funeral
Wednesday, July 30th, 2014 12:59 pmMore pirates, so soon? Yes, more pirates, so soon! I didn't want to stop writing the story, so here is more! Hope you enjoy!

"Vechs, help!" Aurey yelled.
"Coming! I have to.. there." Vechs said, finishing off one of the enemy pirates he was fighting.
As he turned around, he saw the face he most dreaded. It was him, the man who killed his family, and he had a sword at Aurey's neck.
"Sorry, Davion. You can't save her, just like you couldn't save your family. It's finished." And with that, the man ran his blade across her neck.
"Aurey! No!" He yelled.
Then something odd happened, the man started talking in Aurey's voice.
"Vechs! wake up, Vechs!"
"Wha-" Vechs mumbled as he sat bolt upright in his bed, nearly knocking over Aurey, who had been trying to wake him up.
"You were having a nightmare, Vechs. You were scaring me." She said once he had calmed down a little.
"I am aware I had a nightmare. Sorry I frightened you." He said, flopping back down on his bed.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Aurey asked.
"It was the same as last night, and we talked about it then." He answered.
"Okay, fine." She said, laying down beside him.
It had been three days since Aurey had taken the potion, and since they had no spare rooms, Captain Guude decided she would share a room with Vechs, the person who saved her. They had decided they would take turns sleeping on the bed and couch, although they never really slept on the couch, just read books and such to pass the time. For a while they just lay there in silence, enjoying each others company, or so Vechs thought until he sat up and realized she was asleep. After that realization, he got up, got dressed and went down to the mess hall.
"What are we having for breakfast today, Baj?" He asked when he got down there.
"Breakfast? More like a late lunch. It's almost three, according to my watch." The cook replied, rather grumpily. He had been like that ever since Pyro had died in the recent battle, taking an arrow for him. Now, him smiling was rare.
"Oh, have I been asleep that long?"
"Yeah, asleep. Am I supposed to believe that?"
"What else would I have been doing?" Vechs asked, truly confused.
"Well, I hear you've been real friendly with that girl... If you know what I'm saying."
"Baj! We aren't that friendly! Geez." Vechs said, almost laughing.
"Whatever you say, my friend." Baj shrugged at him.
After Vechs ate the lunch, which turned out to be an orange and a slice of Baj's homemade pie, In other words, an orange and a rock, Vechs went up to the wheelhouse.
"What's up, BoulderFist?" Vechs asked the captain.
"The ceiling of the BoulderFist." Guude answered.
"Heh, good one. Where are we headed?" Vechs inquired.
"Where we always go when we lose men. Port ZEL."
"Have you ever wondered why its called that?"
"Lake ZEL. It's nearby the port. It's where Anders is from."
"I see. Where are you from? You've never shared with the rest of us."
"That's because its none of your business. Go below deck and ready the caskets, we'll be there in an hour or so."
"Fine." Vechs said as he went below. He had to ready five coffins. One for Pyro, one for Adlingtont, another for Pakratt, one for Jimothy, and finally, Shree. There was an extra one, and he wondered why.
"Oh, she isn't dead!" Vechs mumbled to himself as he put away the coffin. Then he went about preparing the coffins for the upcoming funeral. His buddy Zisteau came down to help him, because he knew Vechs wouldn't like to see the dead bodies of their fallen comrades.
"Thanks, Z. And just in time too, I think we are here." Vechs said.
"You done? we're here!" Beef yelled down.
"Called it. We are coming, Vinty!"
"Ok Vechs, never call me that again." Beef said, even though he was laughing. As they were going back, they passed Vechs' room, and Vechs heard talking from inside the room.
"Yeah, that's fine... Just tell me if you change your mind. Bye Aurey."
He was about to walk in when someone walked out, nearly hitting him with the door. It was Blame.
"Oh, hey BTC. Whatcha doing?"
"Ah, nothing." He replied, walking away.
"Should I ask?" Vechs inquired as he walked in, to the sight of Aurey with a small flower in her hand.
"I rejected him, and I feel terrible about it." Was her explanation for what just happened,"He had the flower in a vase, apparently. He gave it to me, and asked if I wanted to be with him... I said no. I'm a terrible person.
"Nah, you just didn't like him, thats all. Don't feel bad."
She didn't say anything as she put the flower on the bedside table and walked out of the room, still looking sad.
"Wonder why she rejected him." Vechs mumbled to himself.
Back up on the deck, they were carrying the coffins off the boat, headed to their own little graveyard near the lake. When they were there, Guude said a few words about each person. "He was a great man," Etc. Then, they lowered the coffins into the ground.
"So, are you coming back on the ship or are you staying here?" Vechs asked, after the very short ceremony was over.
"I know I said I wanted you to drop me off at the nearest port, but I want to see the people who attacked us punished. I'm staying." She replied.
"Then I guess we better get going, the punishment for piracy is death, and even though most police are chumps, there are a few that'll bring us in. Lets go, guys!" Vechs yelled.
And with that they got hurriedly back onto the ship and set sail. So quickly, in fact, that they didn't notice the larger ship that set sail after them.
