mindcrackloveYay! More pirates! It's been a while, thanks to my hard drive crashing. Anyway, enjoy the story, and have a cookie, or a cupcake, or a piece of pie... Anyway, here we go.

"I'll keep you safe, I promise."
That kept running through Vechs' mind, over and over, as he scrambled through the chests. There had to be something that could save Aurey, there is always something, right? Nope, not that chest. Nor that one. Don't pirates have healing supplies? They get hurt plenty, so why are there no healing supplies on this ship? He had already checked the medic's office, there he found nothing. So far he hadn't found anything in the cargo hold. He had to hurry, he knew she could pass any minute, all because he couldn't keep a simple promise. But wasn't she partly to blame? I mean, she left the room Vechs had told her to stay in. No, he told her he'd keep her safe, and he had obviously failed at that.
"Vechs, what are you doing? I told you, she's beyond saving. There isn't anything I can do for her. Why does she matter so much to you anyway? We just lost five crewmates and you are worried about her. What's the deal?;" The medic, Etho said.
"I promised her..." Vechs half-whispered.
"A simple promise? I find that hard to believe. Were you two smooching or something before you came on this boat?"
"Maybe I just care about her. I told her-"
"I know what you told her, but that doesn't explain why you seem to care so much about her, I mean, you only just met."
"Do you want to know the real reason I care so much about her?" Vechs yelled, as he removed his shirt,"See the scar? I think the same people who attacked her attacked me, before I became a pirate. They had my sister the same way they had her, except my sister bled out from the gash on her arm. They killed both my parents, both my brothers, and my sister. I want to cut their heads off just as much as she does. They had thought they killed me, but they were obviously wrong."
Etho looked shocked," Ah, that's why you hate talking about your past."
"Well, would you love to talk about it if it happened to you?"
"I'm sorry you can't get information out of her, but there isn't anything we can do. Nothing. Go up to your room and get some rest. That's an order." Etho commanded him.
"You aren't captain..." Vechs argued.
"But Guude is injured and I am second in command. Go, now."
"Fine, but you aren't going to keep me up there forever." Vechs said as he walked away, contents of the chests still spilled onto the floor.
Back up in his living space, it was almost worse. Aureys bag of things and cape were still on the bed, along with a note.
"I'm going up to fight, Vechus. If I get hurt don't blame yourself, it was my stupidity. I'm sorry." The note read.
"Couldn't even spell my name right... Why did you go up? Why didn't you stay here..?" Vechs whispered to himself.
After a few minutes of staring at the note, he couldn't take it any longer. He went back to the chests, and was looking for hours for something that may help him. Finally, he found something useful. A potion recipe book, it looked bigger than Etho's, even. He immediatly went to the healing section of the book. He flipped through multiple pages of healing potions, until he found one that might help. A regeneration potion. But he needed ghast tears, and they hadn't raided a Nether Freighter recently. He remembered seeing some recently, but where? He looked through every chest, which took even more precious hours out of his time, when he remembered.
She hadn't been able to fit them in her bag... They were on her ship! After realizing this he immedially ran to the wheelhouse.
"Turn it around! We need to go back to Aurey's ship! I can save her!" Vechs yelled to the captain, who wasn't looking very happy.
"Are you sure you can save her? I don't want this all to be for not."
"I'm positive, Guude! Turn it around!"
"Ok, lets go." Guude replied grumpily.
As they were heading back, Vechs went back to visit Aurey. She was laying there, motionless. She was so still, when before she was so animated, that it had seemed she was already dead. But he felt her pulse, and heard her breaths, so she was definatly alive. All Vechs could do for her was check her pulse and breathing every so often.
"Vechs! We are here! Get the Tears, hurry!" Pause, a crew member yelled.
Had it been that long? He got up and turned to leave, but before he did, he bent down and planted a kiss on Aureys cheek.
"Stay alive until I get back, okay?" He asked her. Of course, she didn't answer.
So he left the ship and began to traverse the rocks, nearly getting impaled multiple times before he finally got to the rope. As he climbed on, he noticed something, it was starting to tear, but if he was quick enough he could get over before it broke, and so he did, he climbed quickly, in a manner that would make Etho question his own ninja skills. He was inside in no time, looking for that bottle.
"Blaze rods... Slimeballs... Aha! There it is!" He exclaimed as he finally found what he was looking for. Now he just had to get back down. He started to get on the rope, but when he did the rope ripped, with him on it. He missed the rocks, but still landed in icy cold water, ocean water, that could kill in seconds, if you weren't careful. But he was also a strong swimmer, and swam quickly to the side of the BoulderFist, and climbed up the ladder. The crew offered to get him dry clothes, but there was no time. He sprinted to the brewery and opened his book. The potion was a difficult one, and it took up most of the Tears, but he got it. He sprinted, faster, to the sick bay, where Aurey was. When he got there, he immediatly opened the bottle, pouring the liquid into her mouth.
"Please... please.." Vechs said as the potion seemed to take its hold.
We started to worry when she started to glow slightly. Had he made it wrong? no, he couldn't have. His worries dissipated quickly when she opened her eyes and sat up.
"Where am I? Why am I here? Vechs? Is that you?"
"Aurey!" He exclaimed as he jumped up and hugged her tightly.
"You, you saved me... I thought I was dead... Thanks..." She whispered to him, almost crying.
"I couldn't leave you to die... I just couldn't." He said.
"Well, thank you, so much." She replied, returning his hug.

Hope you enjoyed! I am thinking about doing a little "Meet the character" type thing where I write down what the backrounds of all the characters are. As usual, feedback all the things!
