Chapter one of unnamed story! (The Princess)

The Princess (Etho POV)
I looked out my window. Clouds drifted slowly across the sky. Snow covered my lawn. A steep slope formed a hill. One large garden lay at the bottom of a gully a short distance from the hill. Inside the cabin in which I lived was a small fireplace, storage area, and a little kitchen tucked away in the far corner. I'm sitting on my patch work covers of my bed that lay along side a window. The sun rose slowly as I sipped on my coffee. Setting my mug down in the kitchen I laced up my winter boots and got ready for the long ride to the castle. King Guude had requested my presence at some kind of meeting. I pulled my gloves on. I headed out to the stables. Choosing the horse i had won off of Beef, liquid Paper. When she was all saddled up I hauled myself onto her back. I preferred this over mine carts because this didn't make me sick. Flicking a button, the barn doors slid open. Kicking the horse into a trot, we slowing traveled on the ice-laden road. "Ethos slabin" faded from view. Soon even the peaceful hills of my home couldn't be seen. A half hour later the land started to change. Flat prairie faded into lush brush and tall trees. The jungle sounds were absent under the blanket of snow. Liquid Paper slowed. I kicked at her sides but she wouldn't move.
"Come on!" I urged. The horse reared up and galloped away. I flew of it's back onto the snow. Barking and howling arose behind me. My hand jumped to my bow and in a second my bow was ready to shoot.
"Etho! I haven't seen you in a while! Sorry about Wolfie here!" Kurt called. A small breath that I didn't know that I'd been holding slipped out.
"Kurt, you just gave me a heart attack!" I answered as I stood up brushing off snow. A white dog bounded over to lick me. It's master plowed through the snow. He was wearing a long tan coat that clashed with his blue and red flicked eyes.
"Oh, sorry! Would you mind putting down your bow? Sorry, it's just makes me a bit uncomfortable." I hurriedly put the bow back in its quiver. Weapons made everyone paranoid since the war against The Cube's Kingdom. We had barely won and had lost Just_Defy and Shree.
"It's alright, but I just lost my best horse!" Liquid Paper had not been a easy win. But at least I hadn't taken Taylor Swift, she was the fastest horse in the kingdom. So fast that she was banned from the races.
"Not Taylor!" The other man exclaimed.
"No, Liquid Paper. Beefs gonna kill me..."
"Will, where are you going?"
"Oh snap! King Guude! I need to get to the kingdom! Urgently!" I whistled for my idiot horse. It trotted from farther up the road to me.
"Off you go then!" Kurt smiled.
"I'll see you later Kurt!" Jumping in the saddle, I swung my horse around and galloped away towards the speck in the distance. The speck grew steadily until the castle and fortress were in full view. The land was hilly and dry. I slipped off my horse as I walked towards the guard. To my surprise, Nebris was on guard.
"Nebs! I have a urgent meeting with King Guude!" He smirked and let me through. Tricky Nebris,I wonder what he was up to now... I dropped Liquid Paper at the stables before jogging over to the castle. Shops and people got in my way, offering everything from pastries to sheep. A part of me missed the hub-bub of a city. The other part longed for solitude and the quiet. I made it to the castle gates and bust in to find a maze of hallways. Sighing at the puzzle before me I listened carefully. Soft voices hit my ears. Following the voices I reached a door that was larger than the rest of the doors I had passed so far. The door swung open at my soft knock.
"Etho! We've been waiting!" A man with goggles and a red hard hat snapped. The room was huge. Sitting at a table, King Guude gestured me over.
"I'm sorry, I ran into the traveler, Kurt Mac." The queen nodded towards a seat. Sitting down, I noticed the queen was cradling a small bundle. A baby. Have I been gone that long? I know that I retreated into the wild for a while, but surely not that long?
"We have called you both here for a reason." Guude began.
"We have reason to believe that The Cube is attacking us again." I gasped. Forbidden memory's flooded into my mind. Blood splattered across my sword. Arrows flying through the air. Men falling. Falling. Being captured. Prison. Recovery.
"Etho? Are you alright? I know that the war wasn't kind to you." I nodded. I resisted the urge to crumple and cry. I didn't do that anymore.
"They want our daughter." The queen continued.
"And we want you, Vechs, and Nebris to protect her." So that was the name to the man in the goggles.
"Her name is Aureylian. There is a prophecy that says she will have great power. Do you swear to protect her at all costs?"
"I will" Vechs spoke.
"So will I" I swore.
"Good. You will leave the kingdom. Nebris is readying horses. Now go!" Guude ordered. Snatching the baby up in my arms I ran with Vechs to the stables.
