Required by Duty - OOG Story
Sunday, July 27th, 2014 03:41 pmYay! It's here! And it's going to be a multi-chapter series! (I have like 9 different ideas for things, but trying to work on all of them is so time consuming, it usually ends up with getting little or none of it done)
Anyway, it's here. So please comment if you would like, or have suggestions. Enyoy!

“Damn it guy, you have to run faster if we’re going to get out of this shit alive!” Guude yelled to his partner as they ran through the compound from the multitude of guards who were now at their backs when he had trying to infiltrate the base of their target.
“Well we would be running like this if you hadn’t fallen onto that tripwire!” BDoubleO retorted.
“Your bag was in the way. Why did you put it down in the middle of the room? You weren’t anywhere near it!” Guude yelled angrily, beginning to wish he hadn’t been assigned to work with his normal partner on this particular mission. BDoubleO always seemed to throw caution to the wayside to get everything done faster. And it had really bit both of them in the ass this time, Guude thought.
“We’re almost out Guude!” DoubleO called out breathless from the running, snapping Guude out of his thoughts. Sure enough, the exit was down the length of the hallway they had just turned into. The only problem was the number of guards blocking their safe exit.
“There’s gotta be like thirty of those damn guards in front of the door! How are we gonna get past ‘em?” Guude stated, equally as breathless as DoubleO from the mad sprint through the compound.
“We have… Let’s see… One flash bang grenade, two flashlights, an angled mirror, a drill and a Glock with four bullets. So our odds are really bad,” BDubs concluded, beginning to sprint and catch up with Guude after slowing to check their supply bag for the mission. It was supposed to be an easy in and out of the compound, taking a dangerous piece of equipment from a vault and fleeing with it. And how wrong that had been once the alarm got triggered.
“Toss me the grenade, John!” Guude yelled out to his partner, who struggled to get it out for a moment, and then pulled the pin, tossing it to Guude’s awaiting grasp. In turn, Guude saw the pulled pin and eyes wide, chucked the grenade as far and fast as possible to the rapidly approaching group of guards. They couldn’t stop running or risk being overtaken from behind now, so they pushed onward faster than ever, holding up their arms to cover their eyes and ears. And the grenade detonated. It threw the guards into enough disarray to make a clear path for the two men to get through without anything more than a few long strides. With no further opposition between them and the door, the duo pushed themselves even harder out the open doorway and out onto the large runway on their target’s base. As soon as they got into the open, they ran for a nearby jet, which was already preparing for takeoff. They hopped in the open side door and latched it quickly behind them, Guude shouting to the captain, “GO!” Within forty-five seconds, the plane and their two passengers were airborne, speeding quickly away from the foreign airstrip.
Guude and BDoubleO sunk to the floor of the jet, to tired to move themselves to the nearby seats. They just sat there and caught their breath as they got closer and closer to their final destination: the agency. After the first fifteen minutes of recovery, BDoubleO spoke up to his friend and partner.
“I may hate working quietly, but next time, don’t convince me by doing that!” And Guude broke into his infamous laughter, setting DoubleO off as well. The tension and tiredness forgotten, the two laughed and talked about all of their previous failures and good times until they finally landed back at their base, where they went to tell their superiors of the mission.
--
“Okay,” came the grating voice of their superior, Agent DocM. “So you made it into the facility, and got this close to the item you needed to steal.” He made a gesture with his hands to show about two feet to us. “And you fell onto a tripwire and set off all the alarms!?” Guude nodded, followed by BDoubleO just a second afterwards. Doc sighed in annoyance and looked to his desk silently for a minute before he looked back up to the agents in front of him.
“You knew how important this piece was to Etho right? If we had gotten hold of it, it may have shut down Etho’s entire operation, and in turn, shut down one of the biggest drug lords, namely GenerikB, his well-known associate. And don’t get me started on how this would have likely caused his right hand man, SethBling to leave Etho’s operations. This was a simple task, guys! And you ruined any chances we have to take him down like this!” Guude and BDoubleO exchanged a look that said everything. Nice knowing you. They turned back to Doc, to see his assistant was whispering to him, and Doc had an odd expression on his face, which worried the pair. Doc was usually quite forthright about things, but the explicit secrecy was almost worse than being verbally torn to shreds. It meant anything could happen to them.
Doc finally sat fully upright and addressed his agents with a new plan in mind. Something that had never been done, but had been contemplated by many in the agency. He cleared his throat and spoke to them directly once again, but a much more subdued tone was in his voice now. His one good eye showed that he was a bit amused, and when Guude saw this, he became even more worried than he was before. Doc being amused when giving his agents orders usually meant something bad was in store for them.
“Well, I have just gotten word from my assistant that there is an alternative to being suspended and put to desk work, making you both work your way back to field agents. There is an assignment that no one else is comfortable working with, and I’m guessing you to are desperate to avoid deskwork again, no?” They both shook their heads vigorously, knowing all of the terrible times they had been through as junior members working at a computer for hours on end. They had no desire to go through that again. Doc nodded with approval.
“Alright. I first need to address some restrictions for you two on this mission. No contact with the agency. If Etho finds out, you’ll be killed extremely quickly and painfully, and we’ll lose any chance of stopping his operation.”
“Second, the agency will give you no aid on this mission. You will not get any special gear, equipment, gadgets or anything else. You will get a house and you will get furniture to put in the house. The rest of what you want or need will be something you need to get on your own. We will take care of the mortgage so you can focus on trying to stop Etho and only work limited hours.”
“And finally, you will be receiving the necessary items to play your roles in this mission as soon as briefing is done. Any questions to this point?” Guude and BDoubleO were silent, taking note of their instructions and restrictions for the mission.
“Very good. Your mission is to infiltrate Etho’s home, but you will not do so forcefully as I know you will be killed in a gunfight. No, your roles on this mission are to befriend Etho and get him to trust you. And I’m sure you know of Etho’s… peculiar tendencies by now. And that brings us to your roles.” BDoubleO cut off Doc mid thought.
“Oh no. You aren’t Doc,” he told our superior with a look of complete panic painted on his face.
“But I am Agent DoubleO. Your roles are to be a newly married couple that is going to move in across the street from Etho and Seth’s home. He will likely approach you on his own, so you won’t have any need to introduce yourselves to him before he introduces himself. Once you have gained his trust, you will need to get into his home and steal his plans and anything related to them and bring the equipment back to our labs. If you complete this mission, any past failure will be made void. That should be your motivation, if you don’t care about the lives of the masses of people who live on this planet that Etho’s plans could wipe out if he so chose. Now that that is over with, any questions from you two?”
Guude shook his head, followed shortly after by BDoubleO. They were too shocked to argue. They knew how long this op could take, and if they were going to become a gay couple as their role, they weren’t sure how to deal with that. Neither of them had ever even taken into consideration the same gender’s attractiveness. The simple thought made them both shudder, but they held their silence, unsure if anything they said could help their situation.
“Good,” Doc announced after hearing no objections from his agents. “The rings, wedding tuxedos and wedding gifts will be outside, next to the packet with your orders in them. You have five hours to get ready, then you will be officially in the op, and unable to return here until you finish. The moving van is out in the back lot, so grab the keys from the baggie before you store it away. Good luck you two,” was the last thing they heard from their superior before the door to his office shut behind the two shell-shocked agents.
--
“Hell’s blazes! Look at all of this! Why do we need all of this stuff? And why did Doc get us such a huge ass house?”
BDoubleO’s voice rang out in their new front yard. Guude nodded his agreement. The house they had gotten was easily fit for a family of seven or eight, not two people who had one bed, and therefore needed one bedroom. Guude just looked to his partner, and shook his head and shrugged.
“Dunno. But we’re bound to get guests or something, right?” BDubs just walked over to the moving truck and grabbed a box and began the climb up the front steps to the front door. Guude followed his lead, knowing his help would let them finish in half the time, if not more. They worked seamlessly, and BDubs eye for design helped them get everything into the best place possible to have enough space in each room. Guude knew he probably would have put everything in big clumps in each room and left them there until he needed something in particular, them move it to where he needed it to go. He was glad he had someone who was more organized than him to live with. He then shook his head to clear it.
God, am I losing it? I’m not gay. I can’t seriously be accepting this and even… liking it. Right?

“Etho. We have company,” Seth announced. Etho closed the cover of his novel about weaponry, and turned to look at his husband. He raised an eyebrow, indicating he wanted an explanation.
“There’s some guys moving in across the street into that huge house. Want to go over and introduce ourselves?” Seth brought a hand up and gently motioned Etho to the door. Etho finally decided he didn’t want to be pestered about meeting the new people all day, so he finally sped it up, got on some more casual clothes than his business suit, and brought up a bottle of wine from the cellar. Seth had on his usual jeans and red t-shirt, and he remarked at Etho’s choice in clothing.
“Why do you feel the need to make all of the new neighbors uncomfortable when you first meet them?” Seth asked. Etho was wearing a pair of long, loose navy blue pants, a loose navy top, a green vest, and his signature means of scaring away the neighbors, his dark blue facemask and headband. That coupled with his red eye and scar often unnerved the company and neighbors alike, and most moved away soon after. Seth missed having social interaction with people, so he wanted this introduction to go over well.
“What Seth? You think it’s me and what I wear that makes everyone leave the street?” Etho feigned a shocked expression, knowing fully well that was exactly what he did. He wore his most intimidating battle gear and usually planted traps around the house that broke things when people weren’t in the room and occasionally caused small fires. He just didn’t like to have people around who could see the wrong things, things that could get him sent to prison. He liked his life to be quiet, secluded, and sometimes crazy. But he knew Seth needed someone other than him to talk to, so he would try to make a good impression on the newest members of their neighborhood. Mostly he would just refrain on making traps that would cause spontaneous fires.
“Alright. Quit the nice, innocent guy act to yourself. I know exactly what you do in their houses. No traps tonight. Please? I really want to talk to someone other than the crappy staff here. So go back upstairs and dress more casually and less warlord-like.” Seth leaned in and gave Etho a quick peck on the cheek and pushed him gently towards their room. Sometimes having such a wonderful guy to boss you around isn’t that bad. Especially if you want to step back from being the boss and let him take the lead, Etho thought. He let his mind wander as he dressed again, thinking of all the good times he and Seth had been together through. Once he finally finished dressing a second time, and seeing Seth nod in approval, they walked over to the new neighbor’s house to give them a warm welcome.
