So my friends and I have challenged each other to a bit of a competition. We chose 30 words at random and we wanted to see who could finish their's first. The entries can be any length, but you have to do one for each word. So this is the first few words for me. I'll definitely be posting the others here, since they're all Mindcrack-related(this time around). Some of the longer ones, ones that are 1000+ words on their own, will receive their own entries, and I'll always write warnings, before the cut, for each entry.

Warnings for this set: None!

1-Silence

Kurt likes the silence. It’s peaceful, calming, when he’s not struggling to hear himself think over the sounds of spawn, over the voices of the other Mindcrackers. Don’t get him wrong, he adores the other Mindcrackers, they mean a lot to him, and spawn is a fun place to visit, with new things always being added.

But sometimes he wished for nothing the but the gentle sound of rippling water, of a soft breeze through tree leaves. He wished for a quiet where he could lean back against a tall oak tree, gently run his fingers through Wolfie’s fur, and let all of his troubles melt away.

2- Clouds

“Does that one look like a book to you?” Guude cracked open a sleepy green eye and looked over to his right. Pyro was lying on the ground, tucked in between Vechs and Pause, all three staring at the clouds. His arm was pointed up in a particular direction and he was waving his fingers, as if to demonstrate a point.

“That’s not a book you moron!” Pause’s voice rang out and interrupted Guude just as he was about to go back to dozing. “That’s obviously a sandwich!” This earned him a heated snort of disagreement from Pyro, who was still set on the fact that the aforementioned cloud was, in fact, a book shaped cloud.

“You’re both morons.” Vechs’ voice broke in smoothly. Pyro and Pause broke off from their budding disagreement and turned towards the map-maker.

“Oh? Are you sure?” Pause chimed and Vechs nodded his head in an assured manner.

“Of course I’m sure.” He said with playful disdain. “That’s obviously a super-charged creeper, ready to blow.” Both Pause and Pyro gaped at him in horrified astonishment and then glanced back up at the clouds again before falling still, unable to think up a valid argument.

Guude snorted with amusement before rolling onto his side and hoping to catch a bit more rest before he had to wake up and prevent them from destroying half of the server.

Or each other.

3- Secrecy

Matthias was Nebris’ best-kept secret. Or so Nebris hoped. After all, the others had yet to come storming his base, intent on doing the fledgling harm, so they couldn’t know he had him, right?

Oh sure they knew he had the egg. Or had. Guude had made it very clear, in his own way, that he knew that Nebris had the egg, but the man hadn’t done much of anything in trying to retrieve said egg from him. He probably figured Nebris was using it for decoration, seeing as the egg had no practical uses.

And that had, originally, been Nebris’ intention for the egg. A nice decoration, maybe in his room, maybe in the study. Odd and beautiful, the egg would look right at home with the rest of Nebris’ things.

So imagine Nebris’ surprise when, on a cold rainy day, the egg hatched. Nebris had panicked a little- okay alot- and then sat on his floor in stunned silence as the wee hatchling bounced about, pleased enough to explore the room on his own. Nebris briefly thought about returning it to The End, after all it was an Ender Dragon, but quickly thought better. The Endermen couldn’t be intelligent enough to raise a hatchling, could they?

Any thought of abandoning the hatchling on the surface brought feelings of illness to him, and the mere idea of informing Guude and the others caused a vortex of tumultuous feelings in his gut. He highly doubted that the hatchling would live past a few hours if he did that.

So he set about raising the dragon. In secret. On his own. So far he was less two beds, a couple dozen bookshelves, more doors than he bothered to count and an enchanting table. An enchanting table.

He sighed as he glanced down at the hatchling in question, who was currently dozing on the stone of the underground tunnel network he’d been carefully constructing. This, too, had been done in secret from the others. The tunnels were both an escape, if worse came to worst and Nebris and Matthias had to book it out of the castle, as well as a playground and hunting ground for Matthias.

Cows and pigs and even a few chickens wandered the endless twisting tunnel hallways, ripe for whenever Matthias was overcome by hunger. Nebris made sure to breed them as often as he was able. It had been pain enough to sneak them into the citadel the first time. He didn’t want to have to do it again.

Content that they were fine for now, Nebris hefted his pickaxe and headed for his Nether portal. He was in need of more glowstone.

4- Breeze

For Dinnerbone, the breeze meant change, things new and exciting. The quiet huff of cool air over the plains as it rustled tall grass, the shifting sound of leaves against other leaves, heralded special things to come. Changes he’d wrought with his own two hands, and with patience borne of experience, with the help of the others.

Some changes had been welcomed with enthusiasm and excitement, like the new methods of brewing and enchanting, while others were met with less happiness. He still smiled in fond remembrance of Vechs’ efforts to save the roses.

But each change, each shift in coding, each new thing was heralded by a breeze. No-one the whole game over realized the significance of the breeze, of the wind, but Dinnerbone knew.

Carefully he plucked a final piece of code in front of him with gentle, firm hands, gleefully watching as it shifted and wavered and bent to his will. He eased it back into its proper place and watched as it seemed to light up and click. Below him he watched the leaves of the forest shuffle quietly, moved by an ever-gentle breeze.
