United We Fall (Chapter 1/5)
Thursday, July 17th, 2014 01:52 pmNew Fanfiction! This took me a while to contemplate, and was partially inspired by The song mentioned. No clue when the next chapter will be out. Consistency is my worst enemy, so yeah. Enjoy

DAVION KEEP
Vechs wiped the blood off of her brow. She was barley breathing at all, just little gasps for air. He didn't know what to do. The Horde was still nearby, regrouping itself for another attack. This time it would just be him fighting it off. And he knew he could not hold them back.
He couldn't retreat, there was nowhere to go. His own underground lair was swarming with the Horde. If it was just him, he would initiate the self destruct sequence in the lair and take out a good number of the horde at the price of himself. But he had Aureylian...
That put a whole change to the situation. He needed to get her to the remaining survivors over at the Town Hall. It would be one heck of a journey without the portals. Portals... the End portal was still functioning, but the way to it was still hostile. Not to mention that the End had been re-corrupted by the horde.
The Horde was already blocking all the other exits. Even if his far fetched plan worked, it would mean that he wouldn't be much of a human at the end of it, more of a hunk of raw flesh. But that would happen either way. There was no denying it, he would die. He would be converted to the Horde, just like all of the others. He made the decision.
If he had to die, he would die trying to save Aurey. But then there was the problem of him not surviving the trek completely. If he died halfway to the Town Hall, then Aurey would also join him in the Horde.
He needed somebody else, someone who wouldn't try and save their own life and sacrifice Aurey to get away. He needed someone to not repeat the same mistake that he had done. And he also needed someone that was in close proximity. He knew exactly who he needed.
He headed towards the edge of the keep and looked off to the distance. There were multiple fires between his broken keep and Town Hall. But his eyes averted to a much closer location. There was an abnormally large tree near the coast, a mere day's journey from the keep.
He looked over at Aureylian. She was lying down on his bed, making shot gasps for air.
He needed to do this for her sake, not just his.
