Power Down Chapter 2: Meet the Everyone Else

A/N: Hello 2:00 AM writings! I have decided to sort-of ship vechs and aureylian. what I mean by that is that they'll be friends up until a certain point, than they'll become romantically interested. I hope there aren't too many mistakes here. Sleep evades me, so I'm writing this at 2:00 AM. Anyways, onto the chapter!

Vechs' POV

Vechs ran out of the portal and skidded to a halt, the intense frictions with the oak wood floor causing skid marks to appear and mini flames to dance around his tan sneakers.

He looked around and saw a red haired girl, who he assumed to be Aureylian, looking at him in shock. Guude, who was now used to Vechs' methods of long distance travel, jus walked up to greet him.

"Hey guy." Guude said his usual greeting.

"Hi." Vechs shook Guude's hand. He turned to the girl. "I assume you're Aureylian?"

The girl blinked a couple times, then smiled. She walked over to Vechs.

"That's right. Are you Vechs?"

Vechs grinned. "That's right!" He looked around. "Where is Paul? I thought he would be here by now. He's always an early riser."

"You know him?" Aureylian asked.

Vechs nodded. "Oh yea. He's my neighbor."

Aureylian nodded, then turned to Guude. "So what exactly are we doing here?"

Guude cleared his throat. "I'd like to explain with Paul here. It's a pretty long story."

Just as Guude said that, Paul rushed through the door. "Sorry I'm late!"

Guude shook his head. "Nope, you're right on time."

"Oh, good. So, what exactly did you call us down for?"

Guude sighed. "I'm sure you're aware of our current energy crisis, with the beacons not working well anymore and all."

All 3 responded simultaneously. "Yes."

"Well, we have all of our recourses trying to fix the problem. All, except you three."

"Why?" Vechs asked. "I'm sure I could be a lot of help. I know my way around machines. I created the SmartHome, after all."

Aureylian looked at Vechs with newfound respect and also answered. "Yea, and I'm an expert on pretty much anything electrical. I could be of use."

"That's why you need to go."

"What?" All three of them asked, confused.

Guude tried to explain. "Vechs, you have the teleporter and FWAPA. You can identify power sources and get them back safely. You can also use those gadgets of yours in case you guys run into any trouble. Aureylian, you can see if a power source can be used with our current technology or not. You can also determine what plants are safe to eat. Paul can lead you on the search. He's a veteran at this."

"So what you're saying is you want us to cross uncharted territory in search of a power souce we aren't sure even exists?" Aureylain asked.

"Well, yea."

"OK. Just making sure we were on the same page."

Vechs stifled a giggle at her antics. He then spoke up. "Well, I've tuned FWAPA to find any power sources within 10 miles. If there's a power source, we'll know."

"Good." Guude replied. "In the chests are some tools in case you need to go mining."

The trio walked up to the chests and took out the tools. Vechs whistled appreciatively. "Diamond pickaxes." FWAPA's HUD displayed the various modifications each had been given. "Efficiency 4, unbreaking 3, fortune 3."

"How did you know that?" Aureylian asked.

Vechs tapped his goggles. "FWAPA."

Aureylian nodded, though she still looked confused. "I'll explain on the way."

The crew put the rest of the stuff, including beds and food, into their shrinkbags.

"While you three go out searching for another power source, the guys here will be trying to solve the beacon problem. That way, we have a backup plan if one fails."

The crew nodded, relieved to know that this had been thought out.

"Well, I guess we should get going. We don't want monsters spawning on us before we go too far." Paul remarked.

"Let's get going then!" Vechs and Aureylian chorused, then laughed.

"See you, guys!" Guude waved. "Good luck out there!"

"Bye!" The three shouted, and proceeded through the forest at the edge of spawn.

This is really interesting.. I cant wait for more.

I like the way you;re doing the Veylian. It makes more sense that way, though I hope the turning point happens early on.

Also, I've noticed a few typos, you might want to look over this again. Here are the ones I noticed:

P.5: "echs" rather than "Vechs"

P. 15: "out" rather than "our"

Cool! I think that is a good length, it is long enough for them to be friends, but also soon enough that there is room to develop the romantic-relationship.
