Child of Ashes - Chapter 1 - Dreams and Nightmares

I did not write this thing, my friend did. She wanted me to post it here for her, and ya, she's also a lurker. I fixed a few spelling mistakes but otherwise did not make any other changes to this fic. Enyoy :D.

A light breeze brushed my cheek and I bolted up, startled. As my eyes slowly adjusted to the glare of the sun I saw that I was surrounded by a field of tall grass, almost as tall as me.

I walked around, searching for any signs of life, when something caught my attention. I looked up again, and my fears were confirmed.

Right there, in the sky, a square shaped sun was making its lazy arc across the sky.

It's that dream again. This is what? The thirteenth time now? The dreams, or should I say nightmares, had haunted my ever since the night of my fourteenth birthday. I sighed, here it goes again.

The ground beneath my feet crumbled away.
