We rush to the window.
“Vechs…” Pause was looking at the body. I never got to meet Vechs so I only saw a stranger, lying on the ground in a crumbled heap.
“No!” Aureylain sobs, her body slowly sinking to the floor. “No.”
Pause leans over and whispers in my ear. “Her boyfriend.”
I nod.
“I know who did this.” Nebris looks shaken. His purple eyes lock onto Aureylain’s green ones.
“W-who?” Aureylain chokes out.
~:<Aureylain>:~
“Lord Baj sent out his men… I just…I just couldn’t find him in time. I’m sorry.”
Lord Baj
I stare out the window again; other people have started to go down to see who it is. I just can’t believe it.
Vechs is gone.
My Vechs. He was mine.
I loved him more than anything in the world. And I would do anything to bring him back, because a life without him… it… it isn’t really a life at all.
Pause grabs my hand.
We all walk down to Vechs. I barely make it down the flights of stairs. I stop twice, sinking to my knees and not wanting to get up, but we all make it down to my lover’s body.
I push the crowd away to find Vechs, his body bent at an odd angle. His arms are spread outwards, as if he could fly. His head is turned toward me.
And it feels like my heart has been torn to pieces.
I loved him, and I still do, he will remain in my heart forever, all I can remember is his evil grin, his daredevil eyes, and his loving heart.
I hold his body. “I love you.” My tears fall onto his cheeks. “Please don’t forget that I love you.”
~:<Pause>:~
I had forgotten that Etho was with us until he walked over to Aurey and put his hand on her shoulder. Poor Aurey is still clutching Vechs, her body shaking with sobs.
“Yes, send the body to the family; don’t make it a big deal. Tell them that it was an accident, like always”
I spin on my heel, Lord Baj is five meters behind me with one of his men, thinking he is out of earshot.
“What about the girl?”
“Send her to her dorm, she’ll get over it, it was only her boyfriend.”
Something inside me snapped… I barely knew Vechs, but I was close with Aurey.
Baj walks over to me. ”Do you know that girl?”
“Yes I do.” I snap. Baj should be glad that I don’t have a knife.
“Well then.” Baj makes a sound, I’m not sure if he was trying to clear his throat or cough. “Can you get her away from the body?”
“No.” I turn toward Lord Ass. “I’m not getting her away from the body. You know why? Because someone just threw her boyfriend from a window, she has the right to grieve.”
Baj turns toward me, fake sympathy smeared on his face. “Although that is a point, we need to send his body to his family.”
“I don’t give a fuck, she just lost the love of her fucking life and you are standing there like you don’t give a fuck!” I stare him down.
“You don’t have the right to talk to me like that.”
“Yes I fucking do!”
“What makes you think that?”
“Because I know who threw him from the window.” I say it quietly, so no one else hears.
The blood drains from his face, and the expression changes from peeved to dangerous.
“Then I suggest that you are very, very careful. Don’t tell anyone…Does anyone else know?”
“No. I am the only one.” I lie.
“Good, and unless you want to fall from a building, I recommend not sharing that information with anyone… Have I made myself clear?”
“Yes.”
Lord Ass walks away.
Well, shit. I think I may have fucked something up. Etho, Nebris, Beef, Aureylain and I all know that Baj was responsible for Vechs falling to his death. If even one of them says anything suspicious, I can guarantee my death.
Lord Baj will question me; he won’t know how I found out. Hell, I don’t even know how Nebris found out. I need to speak to everyone now, we need to plan.
~:<Aureylain>:~
I know that Etho stands by my shoulder. I know that everyone is watching me. I know that Vechs isn’t coming back.
Vechs isn’t coming back.
Yet I sit here, holding his body, hoping that he does.
“We have to go.” Pause whispers in my ear.
I start to protest, but there is something in his voice that stops me.
“Pause.” I begin, my voice shaking from the crying. “What’s wrong?”
“I can’t explain to you here, meet me in my dorm in a few minutes.” Pause sounds panicked.
He jogs off, back to the castle. With a final kiss of the forehead, I put Vechs down, and follow.
~:<Beef>:~
“What’s going on Pause?” I look at him; his eyes are darting around the room. This is his panicked face.
“I… I messed up, I messed up.” Pause looks at all of us. “He knows.”
“Who?” Nebris asks.
“Baj knows that we know.”
“What do we know?” Etho says, sitting down on Pause’s bed.
“We know who was responsible for Vechs falling off a building!”
Explosion of words in 3…2…1…
“What?”
“Why would you do that?”
“What were you thinking?”
“Sorry!” Pause shouts.
Silence.
“Well… What do we do now?” I question, not wanting the silence to continue.
We all think for a while before Aurey claps her hands for attention. We look her way.
“I have an Idea.” She has a spark in her eye. A dangerous spark.
“Well go on!” We encourage her to tell us her idea.
“We attempt what Vechs tried to do last year.” Aurey pushes her long hair from her face. “We kill Lord Baj.”

I hate to abandon a (salad) story though, so I think i might stick around.
BTW, if Aurey ends up dieing, Afterlife meetup perhaps? because that would be good for the story.
