Fic - On the Field (Prompt Swap)
Monday, June 16th, 2014 12:26 amWrote a really short thing for the prompt swap. I got Yamina, whose prompt was "Find the bookshelf in your house that is the farthest distance from where you are now. Take the third book from the left and find the third sentence on page 177. Have that be a part of your story." I got the first Harry Potter, so have a Hogwarts AU! (the sentence in question is 'Or at least, they didn't until they spotted a notice in the Gryffindor common room that made them all groan.')
Life was good in Gryffindor for Pause.
They were ahead in the point rankings by well over a thousand, and were sure to keep the lead by the end of the year.
Classes were, for whatever reason, easy this year. Even he was scraping by a passing grade.
And, especially, their Quidditch team had made it to the finals for the year. They didn't know quite who they would be playing against, but it was either Hufflepuff or Slytherin (and Hufflepuff was going to win, of course). With an opponent like them, Pause's team didn't find it necessary to fit in extra practices.
Or at least, they didn't until they spotted a notice in the Gryffindor common room that made them all groan.
"Hufflepuff... forfeited?" The color left Guude's face as he read aloud the note to the team. "They all caught Spattergroit. Eeech, no wonder they can't play.
"And... Slytherin's got a replacement player for one of them... Vechs, of all people, is their new seeker."
"Really?" Beef raised an eyebrow. "Didn't he lose the role of Beater last year for being 'too violent'?"
"Yeah, well," Guude tossed the paper into the air where it quietly fluttered to the ground. "We've won before and we'll win again, right guys?"
They all cheered.
---
It was perhaps one of the quickest Quidditch matches in history.
Blame and Zisteau, the Slytherin Beaters, stood their ground against Bdubs and Genny.
Neither Nebris nor Etho let the Quaffle in their hoops.
Guude, Baj and Beef raced around Seth, Pak, and MC.
And Pause and Vechs kept neck-and-neck as they raced for the snitch, visible within seconds of the game's beginning, even in the pouring rain.
They pressed hard against each other, hands outstretched (Vechs was taller, but Pause had longer reach). The fluttering golden ball zigged and zagged and they went with it.
And then, all at once, it was over. Pause held the snitch aloft with a beaming grin, Vechs sulking quietly beside him through water-soaked goggles.

I absolutely hate HP, so all I'm getting from this is that one team lost...^^'
So...er...good to see that other people who like Harry Potter or have better understanding of it enjoy it?
And hopefully you had fun writing it~
