Mindcrack Fan Fiction | We Found Love in a Hopeless Place (Chapters 1-2)
Wednesday, June 4th, 2014 10:59 pmThis was an idea I had to create a story based on UHC, but casting it in the light of war. When Aureylian joined the server, (she is my favourite person in the world) I knew that she needed to be in my story. I cast her in a beautiful, charming and heroic light in the story, and I hope you like it! The fan-fiction includes Anderz, Baj, Etho, Guude, BdoubleO and Aureylian, and will be a 5 chapter read in the end. Here are the first two chapters!

We Found Love in a Hopeless Place
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1 - Construction and preparation
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etho peaked his head out of the tiny 1x1 hole, to catch the morning sun rising, and the multitude of mobs around him dying in a fury of fire. His teammates, the CouldNotBeAnymoreBritish-Baj, and the large bumbling Anderz were still in the cave, desperately fighting for enough supplies to enchant their gear.
“Yeah, the sun’s up and the rain has stopped, it’s safe to come up to the surface now guys,” called Etho down the winding cave.
Anderz’ voice came up as a hollow echo, “Aww yeah, time for the Viking to go kill someone Mindcrack ass!”
Etho sighed while checking around for anyone targeting him, then heaved himself out of the hole, using his sword as a cane. He clicked on his lighter, and took a long deep breath of smoke. He hadn’t had a puff in hours, since it was too dangerous to smoke in the cave.
“Anderz stop joking around, we need to get back to base camp and look for the enemy, otherwise this war will never finish.”
“Come on, we are waiting for you up here,” exclaimed Baj, as he wiped the dirt off his sword.
As the large Swedish soldier lifted himself out of the hole, Etho straightened his helmet and put his arrows back into his quiver, while climbing onto the back of Wild Fire, the horse that Baj had already mounted.
“We’ll meet you at the barricade, because we don’t have time to wait for you. Come and quickly as you can,” Etho yelled back over his shoulder, as Baj rode Wild Fire into the rising sun, leaving Anderz with Eddie, the short plump mule.
Wild Fire’s sleek body pulsated as she rode across the barren field of dead Mindcrackers, and weapons strewn all over the ground. Etho and Baj arrived at the barricade at 10am, and got off Wild Fire.
Etho set up a camp while instructing, “Baj, start preparing the sand bags to stop the Parents from reaching our side of the field.”
“Where the hell is Anderz,” Baj shouted angrily, “We needed his strength to build the trenches.”
“Damn him Baj, it’s just you and me. We will work all day if we have to, but if this barricade isn’t up by sunset, the Parents will slaughter us like cows.”
The two figures hurriedly created a twenty-metre wide fort during the long day, and finally collapsed on the ground next to each other, completely out of energy. The sun set on their day, and neither Anderz nor the parents had made an appearance.
“You rest my friend, I’ll take the watch tonight,” Etho pronounced heroically.
He picked up his torch and placed it next to a chair behind the barricade, and sat down with his bow and sword in his hands. Minutes quickly turned to hours, and as all the light was gone, he drifted off to a restless sleep.

Chapter 2 - Alone
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etho woke up to the sound of an arrow hitting the ground next to his head, and he jolted awake with his bow posed. Team Parents had arrived.
“Baj wake up they’re here!” He shook his old British friend by the shoulders, and splashed him with water, in an attempt to wake him up quickly.
“What the bloody hell are you talking about…”
“This is UHC XV1 Baj! For God’s sake, grab your bow, we are being attacked,” Etho screamed at him, thrusting the slender bow into his aged and wrinkly hands.
The two stood posed at different points along the barricade, while Sergeant Guude and BdoubleO pounded their wall with arrows. Etho let an arrow fly and it hit BdoubleO in the leg, while a faint dull ‘ping’ was heard.
“I see two of them, but where is Aurey? She could be flanking us,” shouted Baj, as he let an arrow fly.
“I have no idea. We just need to keep an open eye out to our backs.”
The two teams fought desperately for the rest of the day, the Parents advancing by only twenty metres.
“This is getting nowhere fast, our only hope is to call a truce for the night, calling off the shooting,” Etho cried out.
Ignoring him, Baj grabbed his hard army helmet and iron sword that was wedged into the dirt.
“I’m not giving in that easily, the Parents need to know who is the most powerful team in this war.
Almost in slow motion, Etho saw Baj leap over the wall, and run straight for Guude holding his sword in front of him. He yelled out to stop him, but it was no use as Baj was already in No-Mans Land. He ran straight towards Guude, and just as he was about to jump and slice the sword right into the enemy’s neck, a stray arrow from BdoubleO hit the Englishman right in the heart. He slumped to the ground, never to move again.
The fighting was called off for the day, so that the dead could be buried. Etho sleep the night away, turning restlessly on the ground, traumatized by the death of his friend.
I’m alone in this war. It’s just me. All the people I know have gone. All the people I’ve loved have died. It’s just me. I am the only one who can defeat the Parents.
He was woken up by something brushing his face in the dark. He jolted and turned his head to look above him and saw nothing, but heard,
“Do not be afraid, I am the one that is always with you. The one that loves you. We come from different worlds, we are on different teams in this war, but we can be together forever.”
Suddenly, a torch flickered alight and Etho saw the face that belonged to the mystical voice. It was Private Aureylian, leaning over him on the ground, with her hand on his shoulder. In the torchlight, her rich red hair gleamed like fire, and her bright pink cheeks were the pinnacles of perfection. There hands met, and Etho felt Aurey’s heat move through his body. She leaned down to him, and they exchanged a long, passionate kiss.
“Will you fight with me Aurey?”
“We will always fight together Etho.”
