Avidya shifted in his chair, slightly bored with the meeting with the local Prince. Showing boredom was highly rude, but he was fairly certain he could get away with it. The Prince needed him, or otherwise he wouldn't be here at all. He sighed softly, causing the Prince to finally quit making small talk. The Prince stood up, frowning at him. “Am I boring you?” he said quietly, fangs out, eyes slightly dark. Avidya looked at him, amused.
“Yes,” he said coolly before looking down at the table, staring at the sheet of paper in front of him. He heard the Prince rub his forehead very briefly before sitting back down again. The ghost of a smirk passed across Avidya's lips.
“Very well. Since it seems i'm keeping you from something so much more important then this meeting, we'll wrap it up. You are not adverse to solving our issue, and while your terms are...unusual, I accept them. I look forward to speaking to you again...” the Prince said, trailing off as Avidya stood up before he was done talking, leaving the Prince and the paper behind. He could hear the Prince give an exasperated sigh.
Stepping outside he sighed, staring up at the full moon. He wished they'd just leave him alone, but society moved ever onwards, and he couldn't live in the wilderness like he could in previous years. He could try, but it was far more difficult. It was easier to just find a fairly ammenable Prince and live within their domain. This Prince was generally polite, and the fact that he had requested Avidya's help instead of demanding it made Avidya more inclined to help him.
He'd have to find out who had told the Prince that he was a mystical tracker though. And possibly teach them the errors of telling others such secrets. Sighing, he made his way back to his domain on the outskirts of the desert he called home.
The door opened before he could unlock it, revelling his dutiful thrall. He grinned, teeth bared as he walked into the house, thrall locking the door behind him.
“Meeting go well?” Pause asked, eyes wide and vacant. Avidya sighed internally, knowing he'd have to feed Pause more blood soon, he was getting pale. He was already having trouble with his own consumption since he was as careful as possible to not take too much from any one person.
Settling down in a nearby chair, Avidya indicated Pause should take a seat. Pause placed a bottle of wine and a glass in front of Avidya before sitting across from him. “You keep trying to convince me to drink wine after all these years,” Avidya said, touching neither. Pause shrugged, popping open the wine and pouring himself a glass instead.
“Well, it's like, proper vampire behaviour, isn't it?” he said as he took a drink. Avidya shrugged, unconcerned.
“Proper or not, I don't care for it, and you know that. I'd think after one hundred and twenty three years you'd realize that,” Avidya said, shaking his head. “But you're stubborn as a mule. Anyway. The meeting went...” Avidya sighed, rubbing his face.
“He requires my assistance,” Avidya said, leaning back into the couch.
Pause tilted his head before shrugging. “So? Tell him no.”
Avidya grinned, shaking his head. Everything was so easy for Pause. “I actually like living here. He hasn't asked for anything despite living in his domain for the last ten years, I'd like to keep living here for awhile.”
Pause shifted slightly, frowning. “Then do it?”
“Which is what we're going to be doing,” Avidya said amused. Pause frowned at that, lips set into a thin line.
“We?”
Avidya chuckled. Of course Pause would be disinclined to the we part. He knew Pause rather liked being allowed to sit inside the house and play games instead of having to do the work most other thralls did.
Avidya stretched before standing up and going over to the bookcase, perusing it quickly before pulling a book out, throwing it to Pause who caught it nimbly. Pause frowned as he stared at the title before his eyebrows shut up. “We're stalking a werewolf? Seriously?” Avidya shook his head slightly.
“Mm, possibly a werewolf. Possibly a skinwalkers. Which is why the we,” Avidya said, noting the shiver Pause gave at the mention of skinwalkers. They had a run in with a skinwalker over a century ago. Pause still carried the scars, even with vampire blood trying to heal him.
“Leave it. We can go somewhere else. We can go back to Canada. Please?” Pause said, shivering slightly. Avidya paused, lips pursed. Pause asked for very little, but he could not abandon their home here. He has to at least try. And if it was a skinwalker, it was a danger to countless people, mortals and vampires alike.
“I'm sorry Pause. We have to at least try. You know what would happen if it is a skinwalker,” Avidya said. Pause sighed before nodding.
“Fine. Fine. But I don't have to like it,” he said with a grumble. Avidya smirked, nodding.
“No, I never said you did. Now, I'm rather starving, so in the hours we have left, I think I'm going to go out and get us some blood,” he said, standing up. Pause stood up quickly, following him, eyes wide.
“Us?” Pause said, causing Avidya to smirk more.
“Yes. You're looking all...sallow. Let's go, the biker bar nearby should be packed by this point,” he said, putting his sunglasses on as he and Pause left the house, packing into the beat up car.

I'm missing describtions of 'when' and 'where'. The biker bar and the car came more then unexpected, as I was beginning to settle in a time long before those. Xb
Other then that, it was well written and enjoyable to read =D
