Exactly Opposite ~Chapter One

mindcrackloveThis is an idea I had a while back but never got to writting. Basically each new chapter will be five years later than the previous chapter. In this chapter they're five years old, next chapter ten, etc.Enough rambling! Hope you enjoy!
"One!" Etho yelled, his hands over his eyes. The play ground was large, so they could be any where.
"Two!" He shouted again. He listened closely and smiled as he heard muffled laughter.
"Three! Ready or not, here I come!" Etho said just as loudly as he had before and removed his hands from his eyes. Etho spun around in a circle, taking in his surroundings. He walked around for a little while until he saw a glimmer under a slide. The glimmer was red and right next to it, blue. He smiled as he ran towards the slide and grabbed Kurt's arm.
"You should really take off your glasses when we play," Etho joked but Kurt just shook his head.
"Am I the first?" Kurt asked sounding disappointed with himself. Etho smiled and nodded. Kurt sighed and dusted off his brown coat.
"Did you see where the others went?" Etho asked. Kurt laughed and pointed behind Etho. Etho turned around to see Pause and Beef running around the tree that was base. He turned back to Kurt.
"Where's Nebs?" Etho asked. Kurt shrugged. Etho sighed. No one ever told where Nebris was. Etho dashed off towards the "Forbidden Tree". The tree wasn't really forbidden, but it was said to be cursed, so the forbid it during their games. Of course, being Nebris, he didn't care. Beef, Pause, and Kurt all followed him.
"Nebs I know you're up there!" Etho shouted. He could see Nebris, as usual, all in black with his brown hair sloppy. Nebris was laying on one of the top branches looking into the field beyond the play ground fence. He seemed to pay no attention to Etho.
"Am I going to have to come up there and get you?" Etho called. Nebris didn't reply. Sighing, Etho started to climb the tree. Beef grabbed his arm.
"Don't! It's cursed E!" Beef pleaded. Etho rolled his eyes and pulled his arm away.
"I'll be fine!" Etho said as he resumed climbing. Beef sighed but allowed him to continue. Etho didn't realise how tall the tree was until he looked down. His stomach did a somersault. How could Nebris stand these heights? Looking back up, Etho saw he was closer to where Nebris was then he thought. He sat on the end of the branch Nebris was on and nudged the other boy's foot. Nebris looked at him.
"Hello there Etho," Nebris said in the calm way he did when he was thinking.
"What are you thinking about, Nebs?" Etho asked. Nebris opened his mouth to answer when they both heard Pause's voice from bellow.
"Etho and Nebsy sittin' in a tree K-I-S-" Pause shouted but Beef put a hand over his mouth. Etho felt his cheeks flush with color. Nebris rolled his eyes and continued starring off into the field.
"My mom," Nebris said, his tone saddening. Etho knew Nebris' mother was in the hospital because of a car accident.
"Is she getting better?" Etho asked hopefully. Nebris shook his head. Etho saw tears forming in Nebris' eyes. Etho pulled him into the best hug he could.
"It's okay Nebs, you can cry if you need to. It's okay to be sad," Etho said kindly. He felt a few tears seep through his shirt on his shoulder. After a minuet the bell rang for lunch. Pulling back, Etho smiled.
"Lunch time! Race you there!" Etho said and Nebris smiled.
"You're on!" Nebris shouted as they both darted down the tree and towards the lunch room.
