So, chapter 3! I managed to do this one in the next two days... Barely. Oh. So, yeah. Remember to request any ships you wish me to put in! Saladcrack or just Mindcrack, I don't care! I will try my utmost to fulfil any requests made of me. But I won't do a Saladcrack ship unless the member of Salad agrees to it. So, request any ships, please! I'm going to try and do a SMS Vechsteau rivalry thing in further chapters, now. So, be prepared for that. :D
Etho paced up and down the room. He looked across to Nebris, who was sitting there, surprisingly relaxed. Etho frowned at the violet-eyed man.
“Are you going to do anything?” The ninja asked, exhausted. Guude had appointed him as the one in charge of administration of the refugees. This was a glorified term for ‘babysitter’ in this case. He had to organise their food, find quarters for them, keep the peace and keep a running counter of the amount of refugees. He also had the task of cataloguing any of the refugees that had powers. So far, he had only found one practising his powers openly. The man had introduced himself as “Robert, but call me Rob. Or OLD MAN WILLAKERS!” He had yelled, resulting in a dual response. Etho had been left feeling that the newly named ‘Rob’ was crazy, and most of the people around had looked at the two, and indiscreetly moved away.
Suddenly, Bdubs ran into the room. He was panting, exhausted after a long run. He bent over, one hand supporting himself and the other pointing. Etho mentally mapped where Bdubs had been pointing. The only thing of interest down that way… was the refugee camp! Etho ran over to Bdubs.
“Refugee camp?” Etho asked, the question short. Bdubs nodded, and Etho sprinted off. Nebris stood, and followed after.
Down in the camp, was a scene that Etho had feared. The refugees seemed split into two groups, one group being led by Saladers, the other by Mindcrackers. While it was not totally split, some Mindcrackers on the Salad side and vice versa. Some people were in the middle, obviously trying to keep the peace. As Etho ran down the hill, he saw a blast of energies. Most powers, when used in retaliation to another power, reacted in blasts of light and energy. Another blast of energy. Nebris appeared beside Etho.
“Need a lift?” The gravelly voice sounded. Etho nodded, and felt a grip tighten on his arm. Suddenly, they found themselves in the middle of the fray. Not the best place to be. Blasts of energy hit on each side of him. Etho turned to Nebris, to ask to move them to the edge. A blast of energy impacted beside him, knocking him unconscious.
Etho instantly grabbed him, stopping him from slamming head first into the gravelly ground. Etho sensed rather than saw a blast of power coming his way and rolled, gently dropping Nebris to the ground. One of the people who had been trying to keep the peace ran forward, grabbed Nebris and pulled him back to safety. Suddenly, a snapping turtle appeared out of the air over the Salad side. It fell, biting at anything in reach. Etho groaned. Even Guude had joined the fight. Etho spared a glance to see who had carried Nebris to safety. Etho sighed in relief. At least some powerful people had had the sense to be neutral. He saw that Lioness, Doc, Pause, Beef and Tom were trying to keep the peace. Though, that wasn’t working very well.
Etho felt a sudden chill go through his body. Where was Anders? The crazy viking was the most dangerous of any of them there. When angered, he had the strength to cleave steel in two with a single blow… If he stayed focused long enough to attack it. Unfortunately, he normally started spinning, trying to decapitate anybody in his way. With a sigh of relief, Etho saw the viking wisely staying away from the battle. He, at least, had the intelligence to distance himself before he went berserk.
Guude’s snapping turtle flew out of the fray, and was telekinetically tossed back at Guude. Guude returned it to its ethereal form, and continued fighting. Etho grimaced, knowing this had to stop before someone was killed. Etho stepped forward, turning himself invisible. He crept into the centre, and, staying away from the intermittent blasts of light, drew his sword from its sheath. The sword had been especially enchanted by Vechs to conduct energy, especially magic. Etho rose to his full height, 188cm, made himself visible, and held his sword above his head, drawing all the energy to it, sending it coursing through the diamond blade. The blade shook, as the energies discoursed itself through the tip, sending an energy bolt towards the sky. To those watching, it had the appearance of lightning striking the blade. It was certainly dramatic. But was it enough to strike sense into the fighters?
Etho slowly lowered his blade, looking around. Nobody was fighting, which was a good sign. Guude stepped to the front of the Mindcrack group, while Elfy stepped to the fore of the Salad group. Both looked guilty, and Etho guessed they had started the fights. He called them over to him.
