College Is Magic Chapter 3: School Is In Session

mindcrackloveChapter 3 is out! At 4am. I've been writing a while. A long while. This chapter might be a bit listy, sorry about that. Anyways thanks to Sis for being my beta. I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Beep beep beep!
Beef groaned and hit the snooze button on his alarm clock. The beeping stopped. As he drifted back to sweet sleep, something hit his cheek. He sat bolt upright. "Ok, where are you Etho?"
Etho giggled and teleported next to Beef. "You knew I wasn't going to let you sleep. I'm excited and need someone to talk to."
Beef groaned again and rubbed his eyes. "Well why couldn't you wake up Pause instead?"
Etho's grin stretches wide across his face. "Because we're going to wake him up in the most fun way possible. Come on!" He grabs Beef's arm and pulls him up and our of bed.
"Woah! No need to be so eager! It's only 6am!"
"Beef, have you forgotten how early I get up?"
Beef rolled his eyes and walked over to Pause's bed. He was fast asleep, hugging the pillow. He grinned. He did look adorable, sleeping like that. Etho saw his grin. "See, he's so adorable, it's impossible not to want to wake him up!"
Beef laughed. "How we gonna do this then?"
Etho concentrated. A faint green glow surrounded him. Beef looked on, confused. Suddenly, Beef's phone teleported into his hands. Beef started at the phone, mouth hanging open. "For how long have you been able to do that!?"
Etho looked a little sheepish. "About a month, I'm not very good at it."
"Well, I'll access his feelings. According to you lot, I can't hide it. It should stir him enough for you to drop something on his head. How does that sound?"
"Great. Get ready then."
Beef reached out towards Pause with his mind, trying to be as obvious as he could. It was the exact opposite of what he'd been practising, so it was hard. Pause stirred slightly and waved a hand around, trying to swat an imaginary pest. Beef nodded at Etho. Etho nodded back, and the green glow surrounded him again. A lamp appeared in the air above Pause, hovered for a moment, and fell on his face. Pause's eyes opened and he waves his arms around in all directions.
"What hit me! What the hell?" Etho and Beef just stood there laughing. Pause noticed the faint green glow fading away from around Etho. "Wait... Guys! Stop messing with me when I'm asleep!"
Beef sat down on the edge of Pause's bed and mussed his hair. "Morning sleepyhead."
Pause just glared at Beef. "You know, there are nicer ways to wake me up." He sat up and pouted.
"Aww, sorry. You just looked so adorable! Here, we won't do it again. Promise."
Pause rolled his eyes. "Fine..."
"Yay! Now no-one's mad!" He pulled Pause in for a hug.
Etho sat on his bed and smirked at the two. "You guys aren't making out and being soppy on me right now. Not. A. Chance."
Beef smiled and turned to Etho. "Well, we better start getting ready for school then."
----An hour later----
Etho filed into class behind Pause and Beef. Before they could get their proper lessons, they had to be organised according to their powers. The room was already pretty full. Desk were arranged in neat rows, and charts lined the walls. He stopped and looked at one about teleportation. It explained the different stages of the skill and how to do it correctly. "I should probably look at that later..." He glanced around the simple room and found Pause and Beef again. He grabbed a desk near them and dumped his bag.
And that's when he saw it. That purple flash. He span around and saw Nebris taking some stuff out of his bag. Trying to act as casual as possible, he walked over to Nebris. "Uh, hi Nebris."
Nebris looked up, confused. He smiled when he saw it was Etho though. "Hey Etho, what's up?"
"Uh, not much. I found out that I can teleport objects now though."
"Cool, I hope we'll be put in the same magics group."
Etho's heart skipped a beat. Did he really just say that? "Yeah, it would be nice." Nice? It would be amazing! Nebris turned back to his bag and Etho looked up to a pair of brown eyes staring at him intently.
"Oh hey, it's Purple, right?"
Purple just stared at Etho. "Seriously? I go though all that yesterday and all I get is a 'hey' and seeing you make puppy eyes at some guy with purple eyes." She shook her head. "Seriously? Is that what I get?"
Etho was confused. "Uh, I'm not entirely sure what I've done wrong here. You just seem to be acting really weirdly."
Purple scuffed a shoe and looked up at Etho again. "Doesn't matter, sorry." She walked briskly past him and took her place in the room. Etho stared after her. What exactly had he done wrong?
On the other side of the room, Dark and Hawser stood next to each other, looking at two entirely different people. Dark was looking at Nebris. "Those purple eyes, they're so bright and beautiful..."
Hawser, however, was staring at Pyro. "His dinosaur suit is so cool. And... Different. I wonder what his magics is?"
Tsu wandered over to the two and used her magics to hover a pencil in front of them. "Hello!? Anyone home? Class is about to start!"
Hawser rolled her eyes and took her seat. Dark turned invisible, threw the hovering pencil at Tsu, and took her seat as well. Sisduke nudged the very faint turquoise outline that was Dark. "You're still invisible."
"Oops, forgot!" Dark faded back just as the teacher walked in.
"Hello student! I am Doctor M, but you can just call me Doc. I will be your teacher for your magic lessons. You may take your seats." The class sat down and shuffled impatiently. "To start things off, I want you all to stand up and state your name, your magics, and how strong it is. I may ask for a demonstration. Understood?" A few people nodded. "Ok, first up." He pointed to a girl in the front row.
"I'm RoseBlonde, but you can just call me Rose. I have mind reading as my magics. It only works with a 2 meter radius."
"Ok, next!"
"I'm Beca, and I also have mind reading as my magics. Only a meter radius for me."
"Next!"
"I'm RedYellow, and I have invisibility as my magics."
"Next!"
"I'm Kappa, and I've got invisibility as well."
"I'm Jack. I've got control over snow as my magics."
"I'm Tom, and I've got incredible aim as my magics."
"I'm Rainwhen, and I've got telepathy."
"I'm Lou, and I've got control over water."
"I'm Sharpie, and I can bend the shadows to my will."
"Please explain."
"I can disappear into shadows, and teleport into them, but only if they already existed. I can also create and control shadows."
"Very well, next!"
"I'm Syfy Girl, and I have telekinesis as my magics."
"I'm Wild, and I've got power mimicry as my magics."
"Interesting, demonstrate."
Wild walked over to Syfy Girl. A look of concentration passed over her face. "Ok, now I should be able to use telekinesis as well as Syfy Girl can." She made Syfy Girl's pen hover. "Ta-da!"
"Very good. Next!"
"I'm BlackCobrane, but you can just call me Black. I have mind reading as my magics."
"I'm Katie, and I've got incredible aim as my magics."
"I'm Book, and I have super strength."
"I'm Drama, and I've got shape shifting as my magics. It's only limited to a cat and a llama right now though."
"I'm Curly, and with my magics I can affect mental states, but only in a negative way."
"I'm Mew, and if I concentrate hard enough, I can explode things with my magics. So far the biggest thing I've exploded is a microwave, and it took me half a minute."
"I'm Squid, and I've got super strength as my magics. Curly, Mew, and me were once part of a team called Team Munchkin. Not all of us got accepted into here, but what's left of Team Munchkin will live on!"
Curly and Mew grinned, but Dark just rolled her eyes. "Did we really need the life story?" Fortunately, Squid didn't hear her.
"Interesting, next!"
"I'm Sisduke and my magics is talking to animals."
"I'm Tsu and I have telekinesis as my magics."
"I'm Dark and I've got invisibility as my magics."
"I'm Purple and I've got emotion reading as my magics."
"I'm Hawser and I'm a technopath. Sis, Tsu, Dark, Purple, and me are also a team. We're Team Young. And we..." She glanced at Team Munchkin. "...Are a whole team."
"I'm also a technopath. Next!"
"I'm Etho and I have teleportation as my magics."
"I'm Nebris and I have telepathy as my magics."
"I'm Pause and I have incredible aim as my magics."
"I'm Beef and I have emotion reading as my magics."
"I'm Bdubs and I also have emotion reading as my magics."
Purple remembered how Etho said that he knew two other guys with emotion reading. She guessed it must he Beef and Bdubs.
"I'm Vechs and I can conjure."
"I'm Zisteau and I have control over fire and sometimes, lava."
"I'm Kurt and I can talk to animals."
Sis perked up at this. Maybe I can be friends with Kurt, since we have the same magics. He seems like a nice guy.
"I'm Pyro and I can shapeshift into a dragon only."
So it's not a dinosaur suit, Hawser thought, it's to symbolise his magics. Even cooler.
"I'm Guude and I can affect mental states, only positively though."
Curly took note of that. So he's just like me, but, the opposite of me. Weird.
"I'm Genny and I can control precious metal, and very rarely, gems. I'm very, very bad at it though."
Doc looked up from where he was taking notes. "Thanks for that. Here are your groups. Purple, Bdubs, Beef, Beca, Rose, Black, Mew, Curly, and Guude. You've all got magics focusing on mental things.
The next group is Tsu, Etho, Nebris, Syfy Girl, Dark, RainWhen, Wild, Kappa, and RedYellow. Your magics are all based around tele-blablas. It's all pretty much the same thing.
Group 3 is Pyro, Kurt, Vechs, Zisteau, Pause, Jack, Tom, Drama, Sharpie, Hawser, Sisduke, Squid, Book, Katie, and Lou. Your magics all affect physical elements and objects. Any questions?"
No hands waved around in the air. Doc grunted. "Very well. You can be dismissed 5 minutes early. Off you go now!" The class chattered quietly and Doc watched them go. There were a couple of powerful ones in the group, they just needed to know it and push themselves. He shook his head dismissively and started preparing for the next lesson.
