i've gotta admit, this isn't a very good first month for pyro. skipping school to smoke weed with avidya and, now, he's staying home sick. anyways, i got this idea because i didn't feel great today...but my mom made me go to school haha! but i totally based pyro's mom off of my own, she's just a little bit less with the times than my actual mom is.
brownie points to the person who can guess who my next quickbit is going to be about :~)
anyways, this is sfw!
--------------------
"Pyro? Pyro, honey! Get up, you're going to be late for school!"
His mom's voice dragged him out of the low fog that had settled over his brain. But it didn't drag him out far enough, and he couldn't even find the strength to drag himself out of bed.
Her voice returned, this time closer. She was standing over him, peering down at him.
"Sweetheart, are you okay?"
Her palm felt cool on his forehead.
"Oh, honey! You're burning up...that's it, you cannot go to school today...and call the people you work for because you can't do that either!"
------------------
"Bad news, guys!" Guude called to the various people hanging around his dorm. "Pyro can't walk out dogs, he sounded awful on the phone."
"Ooh! We should bring him some soup!" Pause shouted from his corner.
"Do you know how to make soup?" Etho shot back from his place next to Pause without looking up from his laptop.
"I do." Beef sighed.
"Great, then we should take him some. The kid doesn't have any friends except for us, and we take care of our own. In fact, we should all visit him."
Guude had a smile on his face, and the rest of the guys knew he was serious.
------------------
"Hello! You must be Pyro's mother! I'm Pause, and this is Beef...we brought soup!"
Pause had burst into the room, blowing past Pyro's mother in his excitement.
"Sorry about that...there'll be more of use...we're all coming in groups of two though." Beef smiled, holding out the pot of soup as a sort of apology.
"It's alright dear, come in. You must be friends of Pyro...I think he's awake right now..."
Pause blew into Pyro's room in a similar fashion that he walked into his house, with a shouted greeting. Beef, as usual, walked in behind him and muttered an apology.
"W-What are you guys doing here?" Pyro's voice was faint, but he was smiling.
"We decided to come and visit you. More of us will be coming later. We just stopped by to bring you some soup."
"It's only nine in the morning..."
"Well, you can have it later! Beef made it, it's really good."
-----------------
They left after Beef ushered the other man out, who had been poking around Pyro's clothing drawers.
"So sorry that Pause doesn't understand boundaries! Hope you like the soup" Beef yelled as he pushed Pause out the door.
And, suddenly, Pyro was alone. And he didn't know how he felt about that.
Lucky for him, a knock on the door signified another visitor.
"Sweetheart! Some pretty Dutch girl is here to see you! Says her name is Arkas!"
Pyro wanted to get up to get ready as quick as he could, face flushed red from both embarrassment and fever. But it was too late, as Arkas walked in.
"Pretty Dutch girl?" Arkas teased, but couldn't keep the smile off of her face.
Pyro nervously laughed her off, cheeks flushing even further.
-----------
Their conversation was light and fun, and Pyro was sad when she had to go. His mom waved her off happily, smiling at her. When the door closed, she turned to Pyro.
"So...who's that? Your other friends said that there'd be two...but she came alone! You should ask her to prom!" She sounded gleeful.
"I-I don't think she'd go to prom with me, mom!"
"Do you have a crush on her?!" His mom was nearly bouncing up and down on the couch where they had migrated to when Pyro walked her out.
"I-I..."
A knock on the door interrupted Pyro, and he was glad. His mom pouted, but got up to answer. To his surprise, it was Etho and Nebris, standing side by side and not arguing.
"Hi...I'm Nebris and this is Etho...we're friends of Pyro's."
"My son is quite popular today! That pretty Dutch girl just left and I was about to put that soup your other friend made on the stove, if you're hungry!"
The two men wandered to where Pyro was sitting.
"Pretty Dutch girl?" Nebris asked, smirk on his face.
"Yeah...she asked too..."
Etho sat down and Nebris followed, and conversation got easier after that. Pyro nearly asked them about their relationship, but his mom interrupted with three steaming bowls of chicken soup.
------------------------
The visitors all came in secession, even a couple he didn't even know that well, like a guy named Milbee and another named Baj. Still, it was company, and his mother seemed to like it more than he did.
Soon, most of them had come over, leaving a few that were left.
"Dude! What. Is. Up?" Avidya's calm voice floated in.
His mom's face was slightly put off by the man in her house who embodied the stoner stereotype. But he came up next to Pyro on the couch, pausing before hugging him.
"You aren't contagious...are you?"
"No."
"Awesome, I can't miss work, y'know?"
Avidya winked and threw his arms around the younger man in a tight hug. And Pyro's mom stood by nervously for Avidya's entire innuendo-laid visit.
---------------------
When Avidya finally wandered out, Pyro's mom turned to him.
"Sweetie...you haven't done pot with that man...have you?"
"No." Pyro lied smoothly, sounding honest.
"That's a relief. I trust you to keep it that way!"
The awkward interrogation was interrupted by another knock on the door. Three people piled in this time, and Pyro blushed when BTC smirked at him with Pakratt and Steph on his side.
"Evening kiddo!" Pak smiled at him.
"How're you feeling?" Steph cooed at him.
They both sat by his side, stroking his hair as BTC laughed.
---------------
Blame didn't say much, just watched as his two friends coddled the younger man to the point where his face looked like a tomato, then thanked his mom as he left.
"She was pretty too!" His mom exclaimed cheerfully, before the door was closed.
BTC laughed again and Pyro grew impossibly redder.
"Taken."
"By which one?"
"I have no idea."
His mom shrugged before letting the last two in. It was Guude and some man he didn't recognize.
"Good evening, ma'am! This is Jsano, and I'm Guude...the guy who called you this morning to let you know to expect visitors."
"Oh, hello Guude!"
Guude sat by him on the couch, turning to look at him. His face was serious and grave, and Jsano's matched his.
"Pyro, this is Jsano...he's a nursing major and wanted to check you out, especially since I told him you were in critical condition."
"He said you only had a few weeks to live." Jsano sighed, sad smile on his face.
"I-I...I only have a fever!"
Guude laughed and so did the other man.
"Yeah, I know! We just wanted to check up on ya, guy, see how it was going! My dogs miss you man!"
"I'll be back tomorrow!"
"Also..."
"Yeah, I'm gonna need you to walk my dogs too...I'm starting to volunteer as a firefighter and they need the company." Jsano had a small grin on his face.
And Pyro liked him already.
----------------------
When they left, Pyro counted on his fingers. But someone was missing...
"Hello, is Pyro here?" A German accented voice filled the quiet, and Pyro brightened.
"Yes...I thought those two were the last ones."
"I managed to get off work early."
Doc strolled into the room, smiling at Pyro. His heart fluttered in his chest, yet Pyro returned the smile.
"Hey Pyro! How's it going?"
"G-Good!"
Doc was sweet and charming, and Pyro would've asked him to stay for a longer time if his mom wasn't standing around. What was different about Doc, however, was instead of just hugging him or waving goodbye, he kissed Pyro's cheek. Doc's lips were soft and nice, and Pyro had to stop imagining him kissing his lips unless he wanted to blush an even brighter scarlet.
"Bye Pyro. See you tomorrow!"
-------------------
"Honey?"
"Yes mom?"
"I like some of your friends...!"
Pyro smiled. He was laying in bed, eyes drooping with exhaustion.
"Get some sleep, Pyro...after all...you're going to school tomorrow!"
His mom shut the door as she left, leaving Pyro to bask in the day's memories. He knew that he could count on his new friends to be there for him and that made him happy...
Even if he still had to go to school.
---------------------------
and there we are! next episode we'll meet some new characters and see how pyro is fairing in high school. this one was mostly filler and seeing how others would view the characters and how they'd react in a more formal environment. and, like i said, i wasn't feeling so good, so i didn't feel like doing too much story. but i'd like to get a new chapter out every tuesday and a quickbit out on wednesday!
