So, the big thing on the YouTubes appears to be Feed the Beast nowadays. Our favorite Mindcrackers and our favorite Hermits, as well as our favorite Others, are hard at work exploring all the lovely things that these new worlds have to offer us. For those of you not keeping up, so far we've seen collaborative videos from tons of people (links to their first episode): Guude, Pause, Beef, Baj, Millbee, Doc, Bdubs, GenerikB and Nebris on the Feed the Mindcrack Server; Avidya, Juicetra, JoeHills, and I'm sure other people I'm not subscribed to on the Topmass.net Server Sponsored By Joe Hills, and of course Avidya and Coestar have their own "Coe-op" of the mod pack. Whew, all those links! And there are plenty of other people playing who aren't recording, too!

So, what are everyone's feelings on all this Feeding of Beasts? I think it has the potential to lead to some great pranking, some great cooperative efforts, and some great footage. Sometimes it's a bit frustrating to watch them herp around over things I know, but it's generally pretty fun, and they're all getting better as time goes on. A few people have struck out on their own a few times, but in a world with so much to learn it seems like it would be so much more fun to have friends. It is overwhelming at times, though, I bet!

What are everyone's thoughts?

I'm enjoying it so far, I was watching Nebris and I felt so sad for him when he discovered he couldn't do all the alchemy stuff he wanted to. It was fun watching him with the B-Team but was it me or was there a noticeable shift in B-Dubs when they found the Nancy Drew home?

I'm enjoying watching ND play around together, I can't wait for Zistykins to get in there too, it'll be fun :D

I haven't had the time to follow it too much, but I watched Beef's first two episodes and it looks interesting. I definitely get the "over whelming" aspect of it. I'm not worried about it "splitting" the group in half though as some people on the reddit are. In fact, I think it's exciting enough that it'll probably get us MORE episodes from some people, like Pause, who tends to make very few Mindcrack episodes. If he's interested in this he might make more. It's not on the main server, but it's basically Mindcrack with a shift.

It'd be really cool if somehow they could link the chats of the two together, so if Etho said something on the regular Mindcrack server, it'd still show up on FTB. I wonder if that's possible.

Also, haven't watched the B-Team's version, but now I might have to to see his reaction to the Nancy Drew house.... :/

From what I remember it's a very subtle reaction, he or genny mentions it being ND's place and he's kind of quiet for a bit, it's almost awkward.

Ahh. Do you have a time stamp or anything? I must've missed it.

I'll hunt for it, it was on Neb's video, I dunno if the others were recording.

Alright, about 44 minutes in, just as Nebs exists the area, I'd link the time directly but I have no idea how to do such a thing.

Oh, perfect, thank you. He does sound a little dejected. I had no idea that Nebris played with the B-Team for a bit. That's kind of fun! No wonder I didn't see it though, since I'd only watched the B-Team/Bdubs one!

Also, to copy at a time-stamped part, just pause the video where you want to copy from, then right click the little slider on the video. (The little circle part.) It will pop up a list of things to do, and the second is "Copy URL at current time."

Yeah its good to watch, theres just some odd audio in it with the Bteam being very quiet.

Yeah, that's okay though. Obviously I prefer nice audio, but I'm not one of those people who freaks out if the sound levels aren't perfect.

I hate being so speculatey, but I do wonder if he's sad about ND having their own thing. I mean, maybe the whole B-Team thing stemmed out of not being included in ND stuff for so long, despite being "Guude's boyfriend" and living with him. I never thought about it like that, and I'm sure I'm over thinking it, but I wonder if any of that sort of came about subconsciously...

It's always been sort of weird to me that Bdubs wasn't a part of that. I know the podcast is open to whoever is on, as well, but I think it's also really weird that Bdubs has never been a guest...

Yeah, I always thought that strange too. It's odd, maybe this split has been a long time coming? I don't know. The guys seem to miss each other but then I don't know if they're trying to get over that or not, we don't get to see what goes on behind the camera as it were. It would be nice to know they at least talked sometimes...

We kind of know they don't, though--at least not Guude and Bdubs. They were having conversations while recording OOG that proved they hadn't been talking much outside of the game. I guess they could've been talking about other things, but they were definitely having Minecon conversations that should've been discussed weeks prior in private. So, maybe they discussed stuff like The Trial, but I don't get the feeling they're just talking regularly--which is probably also due to scheduling.

But yeah, it really does make me wonder. I feel like Minecon is some giant looming Event that is going to Change Stuff. Like, it's a kettle about to boil over or something. And I'm really hoping it'll boil over in favor of everyone. I'm hoping in person it will be a great time and they'll have fun and reconnect like old times, and Guude will come home and get a nanny to watch his daughter for a few hours in the morning and let him sleep/record at times other guys are on, etc. Keeping my fingers crossed for such things as these!

Have you seen Guude's Caving AMA #2? He talks for a while about friendships and stuff between the guys on the server. There was really nothing specific said, it just gave me sad feels in places. :/

That was the sad bit, you'd normally expect him to mention his BFF that he met through doing this.

I have not started watching anyone play it, but maybe when Zisteau starts to play I'll watch.

I had my reservations about mods that add content to Minecraft (I'm basically worried about competing mods fracturing the Minecraft community and losing the common base upon which we all learn and play the game) but I'm slowly growing to like it. I'm intrigued to see where it'll go - and if it'll have any traction, and its consequences on other Mindcrack-without-vanilla content (MineZ, UltraHardcore, non-Minecraft content).

Given that I've had absolutely no interest in all the Tekkit stuff going around, I'm quite surprised to be thoroughly enjoying the Feed the Beast stuff. I know jack all about any of the mods so I'm totally in on the guys' sense of discovery.

I feel no compulsion to watch everything the way I feel about the Mindcrack server proper (thank heavens), but the sense of newness and vastness is pretty cool.

I agree here. It's all overwhelming to me, and I don't think I have any interest in it personally, but I watch a lot of these series for the interaction between the guys and their enjoyment. So I like seeing THEM being all flaily about new stuff and bantering and interacting. I just took a step back from "I need to understand this" and enjoyed it more. It's like Advanced Redstone to me, which I don't get all, either, so I don't necessarily enjoy "how to make a huge complicated machine" step-by-step. But I enjoy watching them interact, and I suspect I'll enjoy it even more once they've got all the basic stuff built and stock piled and can start doing really cool stuff vs. just building the basics.

I've only watched Nancy Drew's first episode of it, and... I don't know. The name "Feed the Beast" made it sound like there was some kind of powerful entity you had to regularly sacrifice things to, and there would be certain rewards or punishments depending on if you made your sacrifice on time and how valuable it was, which sounded interesting in my head, but then it just turned out to be a mod that adds a bunch of technical items with no end purpose (from what I've gathered, anyway), and that was kind of disappointing to me. So I think my opinion of it is already colored by my initial expectations. Also, I've never gotten the appeal of these kinds of mods anyway, so I don't know, but with as big as it's turning out to be, I feel like I should give it more of a proper chance.

Yeah, I got bored very quickly of watching Bdubs or Beef smelt iron into refined iron and then craft a bunch of squares to stick together to make more squares. Over half of Bdubs' video is him in his crafting bench.

But I loved the Nancy Drew parts where they're all running around starving and Pause is planting rubber trees instead of getting food and everyone is critiquing Guude's ugly little house, etc. So, in terms of just watching for fun interaction it's nice, but so far I don't have a lot of interest in the HUGE EXPANSION!!!! of it yet. I think there are probably aspects of it that would intrigue me, but I'm not seeing them yet.

Yeah the interactions are great and such, I really enjoyed Millbee getting excited about a jetpack and making his long term goal to build bridges to keep everyone together. That was awful sweet.
