A purpstho Sunbris

mindcrackloveSo I commented how it would be interesting to see a Sunbris vs. Purpstho ficlet. I thought about it, here it is. For you older audiences, this is based on Super Dimensional Fortress Macross to many degrees for inspiration.
The year was 5342AD, the human race have reached deep into space, aboard one of the battleships in the front were Purple and Sunset who worked on the consoles. They graduated the same school and have known each other since childhood.
They each eventually fell in love with a pilot, Sergeant Etho and Nebris, who flew into battles often. Ever since then, whenever either Nebris or Etho took off for battle, they would often go watch or encourage them from the intercoms. "Promise me you'll be back" they'll often say or "I will be waiting for you, no matter what."
In return for their support, Nebris and Etho both wears a memento from each. Etho a velvet scarf knitted by Purple and Nebris always has a necklace pendant that Sunset gave to him. They both know that these women would follow them to the ends of the universe and it is their job to protect Purple and Sunset.
This is where a small competition eventually sprouted out between Sunset and Purple, where they would try to out do the other one in terms of how much care and memories they could give to their loved ones. Of course, it was nothing out of spite, for they are still friends. But in its own way, it was very competitive. With mini cooking competitions and even cake making competitions to show that they could care for their lovers more. Even with the slightest injury, they would pour their hearts out and it was those times that the competition really gets on with Purple and Sunset not only really caring for their loved ones, but to show that one of the couple was better than the other. Purple made soups, cared for wounds and even stayed up all night watching after her loved one whereas Sunset would try to one-up that by bringing flowers and fruits, even slicing them up and feeding Nebris in small pieces.
In the end, neither of the couples were better than the other. Obviously, but with this competition, they each brought out the best out of their lovers and they all eventually made it safely into the final moments of their lifetimes thanks to the love, care and warmth they brought to their lovers. On their final days, Purple and Etho and Nebris and Sunset stood landed on a planet and watched a magenta sunset over the planet. It was there that Purple laughed and said to Sunset "You know, that competition was great, let's have a draw." to which Sunset replied back "It sure was and great memories too." before they hugged each other with their lovers looking at them and shrugging with the universe watching over them from the skies.
