Because since finding this community, I've been shipping them a lot. :P

So I have three things to post about.

First thing is that if you haven't watched Zisteau's perspective for killing the dragon, do it. Not only is it overall funny, the ending is really cute and has inspired me to try my hand at fan art. :)

With that, my second thing is that I've figured out a "timeline" of Kurt and Zisteau's relationship (if it was a romantic one) using their videos in order.
So here it is:
The time after the dragon slaying= Meeting for the first time
Zisteau's "Spawn Village or Bust"= Asking Kurt out on a date
Blowing up the silo= The first date
UHC s7= Another date, I suppose. I had trouble pinpointing what this would be
And then you guys went crazy with the canon from there (which I have no problem with because it's all really good)

And then the third thing, and the most random part of this post is that I realized how much Katy Perry's "E.T." relates to K/Z. Just look at some of the lyrics:

That top comment. I mean, I knew K/Z was a popular pairing, but 157 thumbs up would suggest that the shipping's a lot more widespread than just the 21 of us.

They have something that just works and I still can't even put my finger on why. Not just in shippiness terms either, there was a big demand on the subreddit for a Single Malt flair. Relative to other popular pairs/teams, they haven't done anything like as much together. I was ridiculously happy to get an hour of Zisteau in Kurt's livestream with them talking fancy coffee.

And oh my god I'd forgotten just how adorable that video was. <3

I need to write some more of them soon, definitely.

That though has occurred to me as well, how they're so popular as a team despite not having done a whole lot together compared to other teams, and so popular as a ship (if the responses to the fanfic are any indication) despite there not being a lot of deconstruction as to why that is.

They're both very popular individually, which might account for some of it. But sometimes people just click and you can't explain it. Maybe that's why they're so good to ship, because we want to try?

My personal shipping of them isn't based in any effort to explain why it is; it just is. What is it with them that just works? I have not spent a lot of time thinking about the why, but here goes nothing.

First they have a lot of similar interests, which already lays a good foundation for their relationship. Classy liquor, classy coffee, Doctor Who, fancy video editing... It helps bridge the gap between their vastly different Minecraft playstyles. They're both good at what they do and respect each other's talents, which I think especially shows through in the video editing department. Zisteau did his "Spawn Town or Bust" episode in Kurt's style (and the fact he did it to help Kurt get to his charity goal made it that much more endearing, but more on that later), and Kurt did a Zisteau style intro. Their differences also leave room for learning from each other, so if they're ever in a situation where one of them would normally not know what to do, the other could help out (kind of like that discussion a few days ago about Beef offering car advice to Kurt, only substitute Beef for Zisteau offering his building expertise or something).

On a different front, I think there's something inherently romantic (in the "Romanticism" sense of the word, but I suppose it could be applied the other way as well) about Zisteau, a zombie pigman, and so well respected (or even feared) for his fighting abilities and elaborate buildings, to be so endeared to shy, socially awkward Kurt and want to help him to his goals. And though Kurt could probably never hope to best Zisteau in the areas where the latter is strongest, their mutual respect (and maybe even a little admiration) keeps them as equals. Then of course knowing what we know of Kurt being a bit nervous around people, it's satisfying to have someone gentle and genuine enough who could put him at ease, and having that person be Zisteau, the aforementioned universally feared and respected badass, is again, terribly romantic.

And the fact that they did just click definitely helps. There really were no awkward silences. They just... clicked.

Actually there's a few similarites there with an rp pairing of mine. One half of them is definitely a badass with a previously unseen softer side. It's the most adorable thing.

I had never seen Zisteau's POV so it was a lot of fun to watch them playing around in the End together, and finding their way out. Not a big moment, but Kurt obviously felt comfortable enough to hang out with him and goof around.

And I agree with

isi about comparing it to the Beef/Kurt tweet I brought up a few days ago. I think Kurt/Zisteau are similar in that way, and actually do stuff together. They recognize each other's weaknesses and help each other out with them vs. mocking or teasing. (Kurt needs help with digging a big hole/a big build, so he invites Zisteau over. Zisteau doesn't make fun of him, just helps out with his expertise!) Just a sort of mutual appreciation of each other's strengths.

Plus the obvious common interests in scotch, coffee, etc., and I think they're both a bit OCD. So it makes sense.

With regards to timelines though, I feel like they "met" before the dragon slaying, though. I just don't remember where, and it's entirely possible I have the timelines wrong...

...Hnng I completely forgot about that and I'd made a point to watch all the povs of the folks I'd subbed to at the time. That's just so cute - and wow, 157 thumbs up?

I'd love for these guys to do more together but at the same time, with how Guude and BDubs did so much together and how badly it seems to have ended, I'm almost afraid of the same happening to these two, so I'll gladly take small amounts if that won't happen.

I may need to go write some cuteness now <3

Yes, even if we can't get a series I'm hoping for a least more small doses of Single Malt. Kurt is looking to livestream more - he did an impromptu 'Coffee Morning' for a couple of hours the other day, so I'm hoping for some more Z appearances there. ;p
