does the age difference give me the right? high school au, for the sake of the fic Pyro is eighteen, though teacher/student relationships are still wrong...and it's still Mindcrack-y so Pyro still has his dino suit and Doc is still half creeper, half robot.
this is sfw!
----------------------
Pyro heard the whispers, the rumors in the hall. A strongly disliked teacher had been fired, or so the rumors went. It was strange for the school to do so in the middle of the year, so Pyro didn't believe the rumors at all. Apparently, according to some girls he talked to at lunch, the new sub was good looking too. Some of the boys boasted a badass looking half robot, half creeper guy who stood as tall as a mountain, though GenerikB had the tendency to overreact anyways.
To his surprise, the man inside his fourth period Statistics course fit the description perfectly. He leaned against the desk, palms behind him, and an easy smile on his face.
"I think I'm in love." A voice murmured from behind Pyro, and turned to find Pause looking on with dreamy eyes.
To be honest, everyone in the room was a bit in love with the new teacher. The people who weren't into men marveled at his cool body and calm manner, and the people who were were charmed instantly. Pyro was hooked too, pink beginning to fan out across his face. The teacher locked eyes with him and smiled, and Pyro had to turn away.
The bell rung and everyone settled down, unusually quiet for the class being after lunch. The new teacher smiled sweetly.
"Hello class. My name is Dr. m77, but you can just call me Doc."
His accent was peculiar, though people told Pyro that his was as well.
"Psst...Pyro!" A voice on his left whispered to him.
"Yeah, mate?"
"He has a weird accent too, mate...you're perfect for each other!"
Pause laughed when Pyro blushed and turned back to face the front. But, despite all his efforts, he could only focus on the melodic way Doc talked and not what he was actually saying.
---------
The new teacher was fitting seamlessly into the school's culture and, by the end of his first month, everyone had forgotten he was news in favor of the next rumor to latch onto. But Pyro couldn't get Doc's small smile or voice out of his head and it was making it hard to concentrate. It really showed when his quiz was thrown carelessly on his desk by Nebris, who couldn't keep the smirk off of his face.
Along with a red "55" were the words "See me after school."
Pyro groaned.
-----------
The end of school came simultaneously too fast and not fast enough and now Pyro found himself sat in Doc's classroom. The teacher wasn't there when he entered, but the sign on the door told him to come in. Habit told him to go to his normal seat, but he ignored it and sat in the front row. His phone buzzed the moment he sat down and he slid it out of his pocket. A text from Nebris appeared on his phone.
"GL on your date!" The phone's screen mocked him and it took all of his willpower not to yell his response out loud.
Instead he texted back a quick "FU" and debated texting something about Etho but resisted when Doc walked into the room. Pyro pushed his phone back into his pocket and murmured a quick hello.
Doc smiled his now-trademark smile and pushed a desk closer. Sitting down in it, he leaned forwards. His legs had nowhere to go but in between Pyro's open ones and he blushed a faint scarlet.
"Do you still have your quiz?"
"Y-Yeah."
Pyro pulled it out of his bag and placed it in between the pair.
"Do you not understand the information?"
"No...I do."
"Then why did you do so poorly?" Doc's smile fell, replaced by a confused, pouty frown.
Pyro paused before speaking. But he couldn't think of anything to say, other then to mention the other man's eyes or smile or frown or the way his forehead on the organic side of his face crinkled when he did a problem.
"Pyro! Are you listening to me?"
"I-I'm sorry?" Pyro stammered, twiddling his fingers together and staring up into the other man's eyes.
"Why did you do so poorly on the quiz?"
"I...I couldn't...I couldn't concentrate."
The confused look returned.
"Why not?"
"You."
"Me?"
"...Yeah."
"Wh-I don't understand. Is it my teaching style?"
"No...no, it's not you as a teacher...it's...you." Pyro breathed, talking faster then his brain could keep up with.
His face was bright scarlet and Doc's was growing to match as he figured out what the smaller man meant.
"...Oh."
The pair sat in silence as Doc's creeper side began to grow to the color of blushing tree bark. Pyro eventually had to do something about it. He leaned closer to the older man, who watched him curiously. A hand cautiously raised and rested on the metallic side of his face. Doc tilted his head down to look Pyro in the eyes. They both moved at the same time and lips brushed against lips, barely there until Doc's green fingers grasped at the younger man's face and brought him even closer. Still, the kiss was sweet and careful, and both were reluctant to pull away.
"I think I need some more help...perhaps a regular, once a week thing?" Pyro smirked.
"Sounds like a date." Doc smirked as well.
Pyro left after another quick kiss and a promise to try to pay attention. But, secretly, he worried. How long could they carry this on for?
