Merry Christmas, Voo! (Etho/Millbee)
Monday, December 30th, 2013 04:48 pmWell, Merry late Christmas, Voo. Honestly, it took me forever to get this done. Mostly because I know little to nothing about Millbee and I had no idea what Etho and Millbee would be doing together... But, I think I got it pretty well, so I hope you enjoy! This has no title, by the way. Couldn't really think of one. It's also kind of short, but I hope it's okay. I didn't really know what else to put.
Millbee ran along the netherack, huffing and puffing as he went. The air was scorching and hard to breathe. His pack was heavy with stacks of silk-touched nether quartz ore and spare cobblestone. His chest plate and boots had broken already, leaving him with protection 1 iron leggings and an unenchanted diamond helmet. Looking up, he could barely see the hint of a nether track in the distance; colored glass and stained clay. There was no way he could get up there, of course. Not without attracting the attention of the nearby ghasts. He would have to find another way out.
He hopped over the loose netherack chunks and shards of broken glowstone that littered the main Nether floor, uninhabited and stripped of resources. Lava flowed in a cascade to his left, pouring into a lake of glowing molten rock. The Nether was not one of Millbee's favorite places to be, but he needed quartz and no one was selling it. He had to get it somehow. So, he had decided to brave the unknown and go on an expedition in the Nether.
He was now regretting this decision.
Etho took a step back and looked over his work. The wiring looked correct, now he just had to wait. He walked back to the edge of the Nether fortress and glanced out over the mangled, barren landscape. The Nether wasn't the prettiest of places, but Etho wasn't much for pretty things. He often felt at home in the Nether, as most of it was untouched and forgotten by most of the people of the server. Deep in the Nether, he could be alone and have his thoughts to himself.
Etho turned at the sound of a blaze spawning in his trap. He grinned slightly under his mask at successfully completing another redstone masterpiece. One by one he pushed each button and saw that they all worked properly, pistons extending and retracting and lights flashing on and off. Anyone who didn't know how a blaze farm worked would see it as a madman's pointlessly complex contraption, but it was far from it. Complicated? Yes. Pointless? Not if Etho had built it.
Etho then turned to look again out into the Nether. He had heard a sound. It wasn't a ghast, and it wasn't a pigman. It couldn't have been a blaze. Scanning the landscape carefully, he searched for the source of the sound. Soon he saw it. There, cowering under an overhang of netherack from an angry ghast, was a very colorful person. He could see the diamond helmet and iron pants, but this person seemed to embody the rainbow itself.
"Of course." He thought to himself. He knew exactly who it was.
Etho quickly descended the ladder to the main floor of the Nether. He had a small, out of sight crevice in the netherack that led to the ladder and thus to the nether tunnel that went to his blaze farm. Stepping out into the hot, boiling air of the Nether floor, Etho glanced up at the two ghasts who had been terrorizing Millbee. With two quick shots of his heavily enchanted bow, they were both gone in an instant, screaming in agony as they fell to the Nether floor to die.
Etho turned the corner and observed as Millbee looked up from his crouching stance in the corner to notice the distinct absence of ghasts.
"Wha..." Millbee said, before turning and noticing Etho standing there, bow in hand. "Oh. You got 'em, did you?" Millbee stood up and brushed himself off, as if trying to regain his dignity. "I could've taken them down, you know, I just needed a minute to... to conjure up some arrows... because I didn't have any. So yeah, thanks anyway." Millbee smiled quickly and started off on his way in the opposite direction for a second, before turning back around to face Etho. "You don't... happen to know of a quick way out of here, do you? Kinda close by, maybe?"
Etho simply nodded and walked off in the direction of the ladder. Millbee followed.
"Ah, this place is nice. Nether fortress. Very... fortressy. Er, which way is back to the hub?"
Etho pointed at the tunnel lined with red stained clay and black colored glass.
"Ok then, thanks. I... guess I'll see you around?"
Etho nodded again and gave Millbee the slightest smile.
Millbee, glad to be going home again, immediately started off down the tunnel towards the Hub.
