Yeah, we do do everything together. BDoubleO

It took awhile, but eventually he saw 'Dr.' Ender leaving Guude's office. The tall thin man left and they all piled into the office.
"BDoubleO I thought I said-!"
"He didn't have to , Guude. We /saw/ the old asshole ourselves!"
BDoubleO gave an apologetic look towards Guude who was still staring at him. Eventually he moved to look at Beef who was flipping the hell out.
Out of all of them Beef hated Ender the most.
When he had been hired it seemed like Ender was never off his back. Constantly breathing dow his neck and giving his classes surprise visits in the middle of the day. Sure, they'd all been tortured by him when they got their jobs, but Beef seemed to get the wrap the hardest when he came around. He never warmed up to him either. When Beef heard the old man was retiring there was nothing but joy that day.
BDoubleO sighed, thinking it would probably just be better to rangle everyone out and give Guude a chance to breath. He figured the guy wouldn't want to talk to anyone after spending all that time with Ender anyways.
"Listen, I'm sorry I didn't let you all in on it." Guude said, silencing the room. "I'm...sorry. I didn't want to cause any panic that wasn't necessary."
"Wait, so he's not staying?" Beef asked, looking more hopeful than he had before. Guude starred at him for a moment before sucking in a breath and turning his eyes down to the top of his desk were papers were scattered across the surface.
"I'm afraid he will be. He had originally said he would be just coming in for a visit but...after today he decided that he would stick around for a longer amount of time."
"Guude-"
"I know it's not ideal. But I promise you," he looked up then, "nothing is going to change and if I can keep him away from you, I will. Now, you all need to go home, go to sleep, and trust me." Guude gave a smile that BDoubleO had always recognized as forced. "Everything's going to be fine."
While everyone nodded and left through the door, talking to one another and casting glances to Guude who only nodded and motioned to them to go. The room emptied quickly, leaving BDoubleO leaning against the wall. Guude was still staring out the door as the group walked down the hall way.
"I thought I said to go get some sleep," he said, sitting down in his chair, not even having to look up to know he was still in the room.
"You did, but you should know by now that I don't always follow the rules."
"You should have left with the rest of them, BDoubleO." Guude replied, still not looking up at him.
"Obviously you're not doing to well, so I couldn't just leave you here."
"I'm fine. You shouldn't worry about me."
"Guude."
"No. It's fine. You can leave." BDoubleO pushed off from the wall and put both hands on Guude's desk.
"You of all people know how cruel he can be. You just spent hours with him. Alone. You are not /fine./" Guude finally raised his head to look up at him. BDoubleO softened visibly. The crease in his brow smoothing, his shoulders slumping, and he withdrew from the desk, standing up straight.
"So what? So he told me how shitty I'm doing at this job, how shitty I was as a professor, what a fucked up kid I was. What do you want me to do? Cry about it? I don't care. Alright, I'm a shitty person for this job. I know that already. Let's move the fuck on." Guude gathered some papers , shuffling them together to straighten, an attempt to distract. His eyes no longer able to stay on BDoubleO hovering above him.
"Guude, you can't just take abuse like that. You /know/ he's a parasite that feeds off of other's bitter feelings." BDoubleO took a step backwards away from the desk. "You can't let him get to you. Not anymore. There's nothing he can do now. He's nothing but a retired tall asshole who walks around trying to mess with other people's order."
Guude kept his head bowed, not daring to look up. BDoubleO blinked hard, moving his head so when he opened his eyes they were looking at his own shoes. He let out a breath.
"I'm not leaving until you admit how good you are at your job," he said, turning to pull one of the uncomfortable chairs up. He sat down, crossing his arms over his chest and sitting back.
Guude looked at him for a few seconds, then at his watch, his brow crinkling as he did so. He smirked and went back to paperwork. As if he thought BDoubleO wouldn't keep his word, that he would leave in ten minutes. Tops.
But BDoubleO stayed. Like he always has, through everything.
He shifted in the chair so that it squeaked. Blowing out puffs of air and sighing loudly. Making sure to tap his foot more than was necessary.
He got glares from Guude, and every time the other looked up BDoubleO made sure to make the worst face in order to gain fits of giggles.
It took about an hour and a half but eventually Guude threw his pen down onto the paper and stood up.
"Listen, if I can put up with your constant bullshit...I guess I'm doing a pretty okay job." BDoubleO grinned and Guude shrugged. "Now will you get the fuck outta here, guy?"
"Well...," BDoubleO shifted in his seat, sinking down into the uncomfortableness making the squeaking emerge. "I don't know, are you going home?"
"No, I-"
"Then nope."
"You're joking." BDoubleO just shook his head and smirked as Guude sighed in annoyance. "When will you leave?"
"When you leave."
"That won't be for awhile."
"I'll go get the papers I need to grade then!" BDoubleO sat up, a grin taking up his face now. "We can work together! Just like old times!"
Guude watched silently as BDoubleO jumped from his chair and bounded down the hallway to get his work. When he rounded the corner out of sight Guude went and locked the door, hoping he would come back and give up.

----
'Just like old times!'

"Damn!" Guude yelled, earning a few glares from the other students around him. The library was probably the best and worst place for him to study.
It was quiet.
But it was to quiet.
He stared down at his text book, the history of architecture staring back up at him through words and pictures and names of people long dead that he should give a shit about, but really, really didn't. Sometimes he wondered whether or not the guys back then would even want the recognition. Whether or no they were cocky assholes who would be basking in the glory. He guesses he could find out if he actually read the words in front of him but his mind just didn't seem to want him to. So he sits, narrowing his eyes at the book. Attempting to read, trying to get his mind to focus but instead he is totally off topic and ends up reading the first three sentences at least ten times.
He pushed away from the table, the chair resisting against the carpeted floor. So he sits four inches farther away from the book to stare it down. It's not making anything easier.
Then, of course, comes some god for saken sound from behind him. He turned to find a guy standing in the isle, his face in bewilderment, and arms thrown out to the sides in frustration. Guude lets out some laughter when he realizes who it is.
No one else could pull off making those sounds.
They met maybe, five days ago? and it seemed like they were running into each other all over the place. Not that Guude minded. He was probably one of the few people who didn't leave him with a headache after talking to them. In fact he would dare to say he was starting to become a friend. Something had just seemed to snap into place at the beginning and it wasn't coming loose.
"BDoubleO," he says at a normal volume. He's pretty sure he's going to get kicked out of the library soon if he keeps this up.
He watches as BDoubleO looks around him at the books for a moment before his eyes meet Guude's and it seems like his whole face lights up when he smiles. He makes quick work of the distance between them, sitting in the other chair at the table Guude found open.
"Fancy seeing you here," BDoubleO whispers, leaning in closer, his eyes never leaving Guude. He shrugged.
"I dunno man, I come here more often than you do apparently," Guude whispers back. BDoubleO lets out another sound that sounded like, 'eghhey!' but Guude never really knew with him.
"And what is that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing, I just saw how confused you looked just a second ago, that's all." Guude smiled as BDoubleO slumped back in his seat.
"I was /trying/ to find the book /you/ recommended for me."
"The Alexander book?" Guude asked, genuinely surprised that he had been paying attention during that conversation let alone set out to find it.
"Yeah!" he winced as the 'Sh!'s sounded around them. "Alexander Christopher. I couldn't find him in the C's, so I was gunna go see if someone had check it out." Guude rolled his eyes, laughter already rolling.
"Not Alexander Christopher, Christopher Alexander. Goodness," Guude let out a sigh as BDoubleO had an epiphany.
"Oh...well, you see, that makes a lot more sense." BDoubleO stood, disappearing down an isle and Guude waited.
And waited.
Then he stood, only now realizing that BDoubleO probably wasn't coming back. He's about half way done with shoving his things into his bag when BDoubleO reappears with the book in both hands raised over his head in victory. He has a bright red spot on his forehead (later explained to be from a whole mess of books falling on him) but he looks as happy as ever.
That is until he sees Guude about to leave. He deflates visably, his arms falling and shoulder slumping, facial expression turning into that of a child being told, 'No, you cannot get that, put it /back./'
"Where're you going, now?" he asks, looking as if he's going to step forwards but decides against it at the last moment.
"I didn't think you were coming back here, and I've had enough of the dead silence of this place. I was going back to my place." BDoubleO nodded, still not seeming to perk up. As if he was a flower that had been given to much water and was wilting without the sun.
"Okay. I...I'll see you tomorrow then?" BDoubleO looks at him hopefully, a smile that is far to sad to even be categorized with one starting on his features.
"Nah," and BDoubleO seems a bit defeated, about to retreat into the isle behind him, "you can come with me. You can make sure it doesn't get silent." Guude pauses and they're staring at each other for a long moment. "I mean...if you want to?"
They make it back to Guude's and it seems like they've been doing this for forever.
BDoubleO is smushed into the corner of the couch while Guude is taking up the coffee table and 90% of the couch with a little of every class. He's sprawled out on the floor and they're talking absently to one another. Laughing easily and still being able to concentrate on what they were both doing separately. Sometimes Guude wouldn't reply and BDoubleO would have to look up, scan the papers near him, and hand the one he was looking for to Guude because otherwise he would begin the freak out that he had misplaced something. A system with flaws that would hopefully get worked on through more trial and runs.

'Just like old times!'

"Damn," BDoubleO inquires as he holds up the red pen above them, staring at it in awe. Guude laughs.
"I know, right? Doesn't bleed through and feels like-"
"Like I'm grading with red butter!" BDoubleO interrupts, going back to writing with the new pen Guude just /had/ to show him.
They're new to the job, still bright eyed and without hatred of the way their filing cabinets will never be big enough for them. Sitting at BDoubleO's kitchen Island and testing out pens and trying to get their handwriting into something legible. They figure writing in all caps is the easiest way to go.
They sit close to one another, their chairs right next to one another at one end of the island. It has more room, but they seem to like being in their own corner together because neither of them go to move away or relocate to another flat surface. Even if their elbows are digging into the other as they try to get their hand on the paper to test all the writing utensils spread out in front of them. Or how their knees would knock against each other if moved in the right direction.
Guude elbows BDoubleO when he's jolted by BDoubleO reaching to grab for the blue pen, causing BDoubleO to retaliate with kicking Guude's chair.
It ends with their faces and arms and any other exposed skin covered in sharpie and markers and pen and with them breathless on the cold kitchen tiled floor.
"You fucker! I have a class tomorrow!"
"It's called a shower!"

----

When he opened the door at 11:45 he found BDoubleO sprawled out in the hallway. Papers scattering across the ground with different pens sprinkled around them. BDoubleO looked up when Guude opened the door, a green line running across his cheek and a purple pen clenched between his teeth. It dropped when he went to speak.
"You leavin'?" he asked, his eyes wondering to the briefcase and car keys in Guude's hands.
"Obviously. What the hell were you doing working out here?" Guude asked, motioning to everything blocking his exit path. BDoubleO looked around, as if he had just noticed all the mess he had created.
"Well...you locked the door on me and I couldn't leave, so here I am." he turned back, smiling up at Guude who only shook his head. "But you're leaving now! So I can go! Let me just get my things out of the way and you will be on your way home."
BDoubleO crawled on his hands and knees, muttering to himself as he seemed to turn the madness into organization. His pens returning to a pencil bag Guude recognized to be the one he'd had since the first year of university. Probably longer by how beat up it had looked back then, too. His papers filed away into the messenger bag he insisted was better than the brief cases everyone else seemed to carry. He bounced as he stood, his bag being adjusted to his liking and when he seemed to finish he smiled.
"Ready?" Guude blinked, having to swallow to get his voice in order.
"Yeah, of course." BDoubleO nodded and turned to start walking towards the parking lot, Guude matching his stride letting them walk down side by side.
Like how it use to be when they were just beginning to understand what work was and how shitty the world could be. When the dust and debris was still settling down around them. When things were simple and they only had two goals, pass this class and have a reasonable sleeping schedule. Before they realized the sidewalk was big enough for both of them to walk on without having the brush shoulders, that a table in the library had more room than to have to squash together in one corner. Before the world turned into everywhere and not just the town they were stuck in for classes.
BDoubleO could feel Guude's knuckles against the back of his hand as their arms swung slightly. They walked down the hall in silence, their footsteps and the buzzing of the electricity from the lights the only noise around them.
Finally they reached the doors and stopped just short.
"Oh my god!" Guude said, grinning, "It's fucking snowing!"
BDoubleO was already pushing through the door, his head inclined skywards. White flurries coming out of the dark overcast like a salt shaker. He let out a bark of laughter and turned to look back at Guude. He had joined him outside, looking at the sky but his tongue was sticking out in an attempt to grab a snowflake before it could hit the ground and melt. They were supposed to be respectable people on campus and here they were, fawning over precipitation.
"Fuck man, I hope it doesn't screw up the roads and stuff. I don't wanna have to cancel anything." Guude said, after finally catching a snowflake. BDoubleO rolled his eyes.
"As if you'd cancel anything. This school was in the middle of a blizzard three years ago and everyone was all, 'Oh suck it up. You can drive!' Right. Over ice without dying?"
"Blizzard? That was ,what?, three inches of snow?" Guude laughed, shaking his head and beginning to walk again. BDoubleO followed after him, having to pick up his pace to catch up.
"Yeah, but you know what this means?" BDoubleO was grinning when Guude looked at him. The realization ran over his face which made BDoubleO chuckle.
"Oh fuck."
"UHC!" BDoubleO chirped.
----

Well what do you know, UHC is actually on right now. I couldn't have planned this if I tried. Ah..., anyways.
