I would not be surprised if one day multiple Mindcrackers do in fact end up living together:

* They know they get along
* Youtube pays well, but man, an easy way to keep the bills in check, why not
* living in the same place makes for easier co-op

Especially if they find an area with fast reliable Internet for easier and cheaper Youtubing (like the whole Google Internet concept), which means an easier way to do their jobs.

...and on a shallow note, what. would. I. give. to be a fly on the wall of the OOGE house.

Edit: oh my god, Etho trolling the hell out of Bdubs like a champion.

I know they've talked about this sort thing before, just building/buying a big house on the west coast for all the Mindcrackers. I'm sure Guude mentioned it once. It'd be epic.

It'll probably never happen, but that'd be something of a fic idea, huh? All/most of them moving in together... I'm sure that if OOGE did it they'd let Zisteau stay in the basement...

Oh, I'm sure. I always had a crack!theory that Guude secretly created Mindcrack to create a manharem, so I'm sure everyone would be welcome...

It makes me really sad that more people don't seem to adore Guude. I wish I could say it was because he's married, but I think it's because he's "fat." (Even though he's not like FAT. He's overweight, sure, but he's cuddly!)

I totally want a Labyrinth-style Jareth!Guude capturing all of the Mindcrackers in his domain now...

The thing is, Guude isn't always a sweetheart and sometimes his mouth gets ahead of him - see his past assumptions on Genny and Joe Hills before Play On Con. I tried watching Guude's old Minecon footage for OOG research for "To Hear the Words", and every time someone mentioned Joe there would be a reaction of "Fuck that guy! Did you know the accent's fake?" How Guude went from that to playing tabletop roleplay games with Joe as DM is pretty crazy to me and something I'd love to hear him talk about one day.

So I admit it, I don't always love him, and part of me really wishes he'd watch what he says before he says it. I know that overtness and honesty and political incorrectness is like half of Guude's charm, but man, sometimes it's hard to take.

That being said, Guude is brilliant in his own way, for championing an excellent group of LPers and for succeeding on Youtube like a boss, and I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. But sometimes I just want the guy to listen to what he's saying and what he's assuming. :/

You should definitely share the couple lines of OOGE fic. I love some of the "always sweet" guys a lot, but I admit that Guude's occasional sharp edge is part of what makes him so fascinating. I feel like MC, for instance, loves everyone unreservedly (which is awesome!), but with Guude you have to earn his love and respect, and you feel really special when you do.

Oh man, ouch, yeah. That's a dangerous place to start a fic, though you've got a good grasp on the situation. It just wouldn't be a fun cuddle pile but a lot more brutal. I'd worry about Guude fucking Etho and taking out his frustration on dying during. Which could get unpleasant, so yeah.

What you really need is "OOGE records an episode "live" at Minecon with BDubs and Guude getting Etho tipsy" but later reveal that it wasn't live or even being recorded, which is probably good considering the things Etho was moaning by the end......

I totally understand what you're saying, but some of it you have to think about where Guude's coming to this from. He's created this little empire and become internet popular. As a result, he has thousands of people a week trying to leech off him for their own popularity/gain. I don't know anything about Joe Hills, so I can't claim to know why Guude disliked him, but I know that he got the impression that GenerikB was one of the leechers and when he didn't "get his way" onto the MindCrack server, he went and created his own "MindCrack Ripoff" with HermitCraft. (Granted, this is not what actually happened, but this is the impression I think Guude got.) Was Guude hotheaded and dismissive like that to buddies with both of them is pretty crazy, I agree. But I think what's really amazing is that Guude realized he was wrong and made amends. He got an impression, probably partially given to him by other people who, for whatever reason, didn't like Joe or Genny, and he ran with it. I want to say "He should've researched more before coming to such conclusions" but he's a super busy guy and didn't have any reason to pay more than a few minutes of time looking into those guys. So, I get it. But they're friends now and that is awesome. I think it's impressive to find a guy who can be told "You were wrong, here's evidence" and actually man up and change.

But yeah, he has a sharp edge to him. You do NOT want to get on his bad side. (Which is why he makes a perfect Jareth. :D)

Oh I never said it doesn't make sense for where he is and what he does, and I do admire him. And he did make amends, which is pretty crazy and awesome. But as the kind of person who strives to be more "MC like" (as [personal profile] placeblocks put it), who strives to be kind and forgiving even to those who offend me...yeah, it's awkward for me sometimes to watch his videos and hear those things from him, especially with how much others admire him.

And it's true Hermitcraft and Mindcrack have different aesthetics and are going for different things. I haven't watched that much Hermitcraft - a little bit of Joe and a little bit of Genny, and that's about it - but as far as I can tell they're much more about the "plotlines", almost machinima-like rather than LP-like. Contrast Aurelian's entrance to Hermitcraft, where she traps all the boys in her magical basement versus Millbee's to Mindcrack, which is just Pause giving a server tour. (It's interesting that Genny has sort of single-handedly added "plotline" to Mindcrack with the whole Team B theft/Etho murder trial, and that Genny's entrance to Mindcrack was also "set up".)

Both are watchable, but in different ways for different reasons. Because Guude's big on authenticity and honesty, I feel that "making up plotlines" felt to him like being fake to your audience - when it's not, it's just people making up stories and having fun. And I think *that's* why he was so hesitant on Genny and Joe before meeting them in real life and realizing what they really are and how they really act. And it's his *overreaction* to "these guys make a different kind of LP than I do and present themselves differently, they're not a good fit for the server right now because of my views on what an LP should be" that gets to me occasionally. As you said though, he's improved and learned from his mistakes, and that's lovely - and his temper is indeed fascinating. Though it makes me worry that I've got his personality all wrong for "To Hear the Words", aaaaaaaaaugh.

Also, we need a Labyrinth AU.

But I don't think it was "these guys make a different type of LP" that made Guude think that. I mean, that's a legit fear (i.e. "not a good fit for the server"), but I think it was much more "These guys ONLY want to be on MindCrack because it's popular." It's quite possible the "inauthentic" plotlines are what gave Guude that impression, but I think there was more to it than that.

And I wouldn't worry too much about getting his personality "right." If you get it close, it's gonna be good. Because of the nature of the beast where "Guude" and "Jason" blend so much, it's really impossible to sort, because "Guude" has a fairly different personality to me than Jason, and "Guude" didn't necessarily have all this backstory with Genny. (Unless you want to say he did. Which is just more of the reason why you can never get the characterization perfect.)
