[personal profile] isi posting in [community profile] mindcracklove
Again filling in for the Sunday chat post, feel free to dump all your random thoughts that don't belong anywhere else here! For example, my random thoughts include flailiness over all the recent livestreaming that I never got around to doing what I wanted to accomplish today, and vaguely wondering whether flailiness is a real word.

Arbitrary question if you don't have anything in particular to say: what's the first Mindcrack video you remember watching?

The first Mindcrack video I watched was Pause's perspective of Season 1 of UHC. I found out about them because of a secret on fandomsecrets and decided to look into it. I haven't looked back since!

It's pretty much a place where people can submit their fandom related secrets and have them posted anonymously. It used to be hosted on LiveJournal but moved to DreamWidth awhile back. :)

There was a fandomsecret about UHC? l didn't know that! A secret about the boys' ship potential and my desire to flail about it outside of Reddit is actually why I started this community.

Do you happen to still have that secret, out of curiosity?

No, but it basically said something akin to "I'm more excited about the next episode of this than the Hunger Games movie." And it was a screen shot from Kurt's S3E3 UCH of Pause coming around the corner right before their confrontation.

:D :D :D It's pretty awesome to know that not only did my secret work to inspire someone to discover Mindcrack (which is what I'd kind of hoped would happen), but also that WE ACTUALLY GET TO MEET after all that time, too. :D

Aahaha, yes! Hi! It's great to finally meet you after all this time, lol. So you saw the secret and hunted down the UHC? Were you into Minecraft at the time or just curious? Are you Mindcrack obsessed now, or just a casual fan? :D

Yep! After the secret I hunted it down and decided to start with the first season, which I ended up watching from Pause's perspective. I've been into Minecraft since way back in alpha, and since I'm always open to watching Minecraft LPs, I decided why not give this series a go.

I remember thinking Guude had a funny voice. XD

I'm definitely obsessed with them now! Maybe not as obsessed as I am with other things, but I can't go a day without watching some form of Mindcrack video. I like to rewatch things I like, so who knows how many times I've rewatched the first season of UHC, or even Legendary.

Ahahaha, that's so awesome! And funny too since I didn't go back to watch S1 of UHC until just recently when this comm did a rewatch of them! But I love that you looked it up and got hooked! I FEEL SO PROUD.

Flailiness is totally a real word. *nods* So much livestreaming goodness this week. Most exciting thing for me has to be the KGB's playing Spellbound Caves - it's set me off on another bit of writing for Altverse.

First Mindcrack video I ever saw I believe was the first one Kurt did from the server when he joined. I only wish I'd found them sooner.

Random bit: In Beef's prank response vid he mentioned that him and Guude are waiting on Kingdom of the Sky 3. I'm happy there will be more VintageGuude in my future. :)

I think my first Mindcrack video was Kurt's as well, though I may've seen some of them before then and just not remember. I have vague memories of watching something and being like "I have no idea what's going on here" and stopping the video. Probably a prank or something where you needed context. Then again, it might've been a Yogscast, I don't remember.

...I'm fairly sure it was a Pause video. I'd only ever watched Zisteau and quite some time after the RFW and such I went off and tracked down the rest of Z's team and subbed to Vechs, Pause and Cleo. But I can't remember what exact video it was, it might have been his first mindcrack one. The first mindcrack one I really honestly remember is the prank he pulled on Guude with the chickens, that made me hunt down Guude for the reaction video and of course his laugh was just perfect so I hit the sub on his channel too.

It was either UHC S3 or Challenge Mindcrack. I knew about both FLoB and Zeldathon before Mindcrack so Kurt and MC were my "ways in" as it were.

My first Mindcrack video was Zisteau's first episode. I got into watching LPs through his Kaizo and Legendary playthroughs. I checked out a lot of other Mindcrackers before Z started, like Pause and Etho and DocM, but somehow never managed to watch any of their Mindcrack episodes.

By the way, did anyone else catch this thread yesterday? I though it was clever as hell! But it raises a question: would you buy undies with Mindracker logos on them?
Personally, I don't wear graphic T-Shirts at all, so I can't justify buying something from one of the online stores. But underwear are a different story - I think if Kurt or Z or some of my other favorites put out their designs on underwear, I'd be happy to buy.

I am sad that the level of merchandise sole is where it is. Like you, I really don't wear graphic t-shirts like they sell, and even if I did, 95% of all the designs in all of their stores are really unattractive. I'd be more likely to buy a tank-top or something, but even then, most of the designs are just gross to me. I want to support them, and I have bought stuff from them before because I want to support them, but I don't wear it. I wish Baj had a larger selection of Mindcrack logo shirts. I might buy a hoodie or sweater or something from him, but I don't like the glow in the dark logo. I wish they had some long-sleeve button up shirts somehow, haha. Maybe a polo shirt with a tiny embroidered Mindcrack logo?

You are so right, the issue is really that we need more clothing options than just t-shirts - not everyone wears plain ts! I'd love to see a pair of sweatpants done in collegiate style, with "MINDCRACK" up a leg and the logo on the other leg or the butt or something. I could always use some new pajama pants! But yeah, more variety would be lovely. I don't know if it costs anything to offer more options, though, so that might be why we see so many shirts.

As the one who designed the Mindcrack logo Baj is the only one that sells merchandise with the Mindcrack logo on it, which is such a shame because his selection is, frankly, shit. Also has UK prices which are just extra high for me. I might actually wear Mindcrack logo stuff, but I don't care for the glow-in-the-dark design, and his color choices are really limited compared to other stores. :/

Oh my goodness those prices are *awful*. Those are concert t-shirt prices... wow. And yeah, I admit that the designs are not particularly interesting to me... the simple logo/name shirts are okay, but at ~$40, not worthwhile. I never really looked into their merch much, and now I'm finding it very disappointing.

Yeah. The prices are just way too high for me to justify for something that simple. I really do want to support them, but I'd basically never wear the shirt. He should offer more stuff. I'd be more inclined to buy, say, a Mindcrack logo mug because at least I'd be likely to use that. I started looking around when Beef closed his donations link via paypal. I wanted to support him, but his shirt designs are all pretty crap, too. At least Guude has a lot of different types of things. I don't want buttons either, but at least that's an available option, or mugs or backpacks or pants, etc. I just wish he had more options than just his logo. I really love that Zisteau did the fanart competition for some cool shirt designs. I'd be a lot more inclined to buy one of those. I hope he'll do some mugs and things as well.

I would buy the shit out of sweatpants like that, or a mug, or a pint glass! Come on Guude/Zisteau/other alcohol-loving Mindcrackers, let me drink beer!

I think someone should start a thread on the reddit with these suggestions. I get the impression that a lot of the guys have no concept of "fashion" (let alone what women might actually want) and could use the tips/advice...

HAHA oh my goodness I love "Eat Sign!" Why was this not suggested before his shirt design contest ended?!?! I would happily have thrown that idea into the contest, just so I could get myself some free "Eat Sign!" underwear.

Since I now work somewhere more business casual, I can't really justify buying T-shirts period. I'd adore something like a small Mindcrack logo or a Guude G as the logo to a polo shirt, though. Polos are expensive to produce in small batches, though.

I believe my first Mindcrack video was an Etho video, but hear me out:

In the early days, I religiously followed two Let's Players: Zisteau and Coestar. I also was subscribed to r/Minecraft and read it pretty often. When RFW became an e-sport, I watched all the footage that Coe uploaded, which included a semi-final game on Direct Fire where Etho's team went around Painwater with obsidian rather than bridging. I realized I knew the names of SethBling and Etho from the subreddit and that Etho had a lot of fans, so I checked him out. This was also right around the time that Season 3 of Ultra Hardcore came out. The rest is history, I guess.

Then Zisteau joined Mindcrack a few weeks later and I was the happiest ever.
