Part 3 of..... ya know, I still don't have a name for this....
Friday, August 30th, 2013 12:48 amThe next day, Pause and Vechs were standing by the Royal Chicken in spawn, talking about why you should always try to get a good bow in CTM maps. “Vechs, is that bow gonna save you when you have 30 flaming zombies surrounding you? No, a good knockback and smite sword will.”
“Yes, but Pause, do want to be using melee attacks on creepers? No, you want to pick them off from a distance.”
As the two bicker on about weapons, Etho pops through the spawn Nether portal.
Pause yells over to his brother, beckoning him over. “Hey Etho! Good, you’re here. Which is better in CTM maps, good swords or bows?”
Etho starts towards his brother, but hesitates when he sees that his companion is none other than the man he fears most, Vechs. Vechs gives him a cold stare, as if saying, “Say a word, I dare you.”
“I don’t know, I’ve always been partial to the bow, but that’s mostly when we’re playing UHC,” he says, nervously. “I really don’t care either way in CTM maps, as long as I survive.” Etho started to sway, and his face went a few shades paler.
“Dude, are you ok? You look like someone gave you a nausea potion.” Pause said, concerned for Etho.
“Yeah Etho, maybe you should go home and get some warm milk from Beatrice,” Vechs says, knowing the reason of Etho’s sudden ill effects. “Beef will take care of you.”
“She’s actually out of town right now, Vechs. She left this morning. Said Genny asked her to deliver something to the HermitCraft community. Mom won’t be back for a day or so.”
Etho, having been staying in his office at EthoCorp for the past few days to escape the prying eyes of the public, had not heard of his mother’s departure until now. Knowing his loving mother was gone, leaving him with his attacker, even for a short while, was too much for him. Etho blacked out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A sharp, disgusting smell invaded Etho’s nose. Netherwart. As he opened his eyes, he was presented with a worried Pause on his left and a determined Jsano on his right. Etho sighed inside. Ahh, Jsano, Police Sergeant one minute, dedicated nurse the next.
When Jsano saw Etho was awake, he pulled the netherwart away. Etho tried to sit up, but Jsano pushed back down. He heard a slight squish when Jsano pushed on his chest. Etho looked down. “Why am I wet?”
Pause chimed in then. “You rolled down the hill and hit the river before Vechs or I could grab you. I was about to jump in to pull you up when Vechs came up with your unconscious body. He saved you big brother. Vechs is a hero.”
And with that, everything went black again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Etho could hear the voices, but he didn’t open his eyes, thoroughly intrigued in the conversation. He hoped either Pause or the Sergeant would catch on to the fact he’d been fine up until Vechs had gotten involved. Jsano had switched back from nurse to cop, and he was questioning Pause.
“Did he look sick when he came out of the portal? Did he look at all different than usual?”
“No, he looked just like he always does. He didn’t really appear to be sick until he came up to Vechs and me by Blame’s chicken restaurant. He started getting paler and was swaying.”
“Has he had fainting spells before?” Jsano asked, like he was reading the questions off a checklist.
“No, he’s healthier than his horse, Taylor.”
“Thank you, Alex. Want me to stay and watch him? You’ll probably want to get your mother.”
Laughing, Pause said, “I’ve told you, dude, call me Pause. And thanks for the offer, but I’ll stay with him for now. I sent Spud after mom. He’ll get the message to her, one way or another. He’s smart, for a squid.”
“Ok then, see you later.” The door opened and closed and Etho assumed he was now alone with his brother. He decided now would be a good time to show signs of life. He grunted slightly and opened his eyes.
“Etho?” Pause jumped, obviously startled by the sudden noise in the room.
“Oh, jeez, you need to knock me out more often. That was the best sleep I’ve had in weeks,” he joked.
“Etho!” Pause yelled in excitement. He ran to his beloved brother’s bed and hugged him hard. “I was so worried about you! Don’t scare me like that!”
“Ok, sure, I’ll just be sure to warn you before I pass out the next time,” Etho laughed. His laughter died out quite quickly, though. “Pause, I need to tell you something, but you have to swear you’ll keep it a secret. You have to swear on the Blood Brothers’ Code.”

Also, I don't know if you thought about linking chapters. Just copy and paste the previous chapter's URL with "Chapter #:" in front of it. It makes it easier for when your stories get long.
