I'm partially amused and partially saddened by the fact that Guude's only response is a Guude Giggle instead of any acknowledgement of feelings in return. Either he's already said his Three Words and doesn't feel the need to again, or he...just doesn't? I DON'T KNOW. It's almost worse than Han Solo's "I know."

This completely reverses who I thought would have the unrequited pining in this relationship too. Damn guy.

Guude has always had difficulty showing his emotions, so I don't think this is surprising. He's had a really tough life and a lot of loss. I remember one episode somewhere (maybe mindcrack, maybe his 404 challenge?--around when his uncle died, I think) where he was saying he tries really hard not to love people/pets/etc because he just knows they're going to die and leave him. That's pretty much all I think that needs to be said to explain that/him. He has to always laugh it off because if it's Serious and he admits that it is, he's just gonna lose Bdubs and that'll kill him and so forth. A lot easier to just step back and act like it's not really as serious as it is... Or at least not to tempt fate by flaunting it.

Aw, now I'm sad, like now there feels like there's an inevitability that someday OOG will be no more, and everything they're doing together now is just delaying the unavoidable.

In reality that is very likely true, though probably not going to happen for a while yet. The whole YouTube thing will probably eventually go away, though I think Bdubs recently talked about OOG itself in one of his Building with BdoubleO episodes saying he wanted/expected his friendships with Guude and Etho to last longer than OOG and OOGE, etc. And there is the fact that Guude still plays and talks with friends he made from back in his WOW days. So it's entirely possible that it WON'T happen, but probably it will, eventually, someday, in a "drifting apart" way.

But in terms of fanfic writing, it's the perfect opportunity to write Bdubs proving to him that he's not going anywhere.

I just watched that episode. BdoubleO wears his heart on his sleeve. He sounded almost relieved that he's still talking to Etho regularly now that Vinyl Fantasy is over, and you could hear the same sorts of things in his mind as regards Deathly Trails and Guude. It's really charming, and easy to see why so many people like him so much.

Got an episode link? I'm terribly behind on Building with Bdubs. (Similarly with Etho's single player; I dropped them when they went to snapshots, thinking I'd avoid spoilers for 1.4, then the server went snapshotty and I finally gave up. Still, I'm behind on both the single player LPs now, ugh.)

It really is. The whole story included this cat he didn't even want but then got attached to dying from FIV and how stupidly badly it affected him. And also included him sitting at the bottom of a grave after someone died... The whole episode was really just emotional and sad. It must've been his 404 challenge one because I remember him saying something like "I am getting way too personal here" or something, and he tended to get a bit more open in the 404 challenge because so many fewer people watched it.

This is true. Guude's life has definitely not been easy, especially when it comes to the people he loves, so him having trouble taking in Bdubs' openly emotional self makes a lot of sense. I wonder how it affects his relationship with his wife and daughter? I wonder why this is why we know so little about his wife in comparison to the rest of his life, because she's the one person he feels capable of being openly emotional about?

I need to find the "I love you!" "Kiss me!" exchange in UHC 7 for comparison. >.> Anyone remember at least what episode that's from?

And now I need to readjust some things in "To Hear the Words" to compensate, but it's for the better, so.

I think that may be more likely than the alternate that he might not love her/them as much. I think he's got to compartmentalize and keep things safe, and that makes total sense to me.

Wasn't the "kiss me" exchange right after Bdubs killed Guude? Assuming you're talking about the scene Gomeric illustrated. I don't know what episode it was, but it'd be Guude's last of that season if that's the moment you mean... Possibly I am remembering wrong. They do declare their love for each other on occasion. :D

And yay fine tuning characterizations!

*sniff* Poor Guude. I just want to give him a hug and tell him it'll be okay, even if I know that'll be counterproductive.

I distinctly remember it being in Season 7; they get seperated, find each other again, and that's their reaction to seeing each other. Gomeric even notes that "this is not exactly from Season 6" when she made the extra page for Anyone But Him.

Funny - Guude's the one with the first reaction, all "Kiss me!" once Bdubs breaks through. Bdubs, in his very silly way, makes it kinda dirty. XP You can hear the relief in both of their voices to find each other even as they crack jokes, though. <3
