Nebris built a beacon and did some work on the room, but also spent the whole time being paranoid about Etho. They also taunt each other a bit in the chat, and Nebris makes sure to clarify that he and Etho are not enemies, but friends - but only when outside Nebs's base!

Nah, Etho knew exactly what Nebris was talking about. The Death Games have a pretty major psychological component to them, after all. I bet Etho was right pleased with himself for making Nebris that paranoid.

There have indeed been psychological studies showing that people will mistake fear for attraction, so always take your date someplace dangerous, or otherwise involve them in a convoluted mind game in which you could jump out and murder them at any moment.

...On second thought, there's probably more efficient ways to achieve this end, but who am I to say no to overly complicated psychology tricks?

I do wonder if Etho does plan to jump Nebris and MC again, or if the paranoia has since become a permanent fixture to the prank.

I mean, I'm sure he knew what Nebris meant, but from watching his videos, he doesn't seem to talk about the death games much anymore. It seems Nebris thinks about it a lot more than he does, idk

I think that might have been the point? Have you read damnreddit's "Such a Noob"? It's basically the fic that appears to be coming true after this video - but yeah, basically Etho (in that fic) says that the point of the Death Games is to make Nebris crazy, not to kill him.
