Fic - The Forced Evil
Wednesday, August 21st, 2013 08:30 pmRemember that 'Fatherly!Vechs' prompt I just put up maybe an hour ago? Welp. Why do you think I'm here now? Hi. :3 Remember go hear him sing on Episode 33 of his Mount and Blade playthrough, around 3:00 or something like that first!
And so, the girl, she laughed and played,
and ran outside all day...
But now, the time, for sleep has come,
That's all the girl knows...
So she, curls, up in her sheets,
And reaches for the light...
She turns, it off, a click of noise,
And smiles in the dark...
And so she slept, and so she slept,
A peaceful dream, for her-er...
And now she dreams, of her fa-mi-ly
Because, that's all she hears.
Vechs smiled fondly at his daughters face, as he ceased his soft singing. She yawned sleepily, blinking up at him with big brown eyes. "Tha' was a ni' song, Daddy," she mumbled, pulling her covers up a little further. "Kin I go 'n p'ay ou'si t'mmorow?"
He stroked a lock of her dark brown hair, sighing softly. "Not tomorrow, Saffron," he whispered quietly. "Daddy's got some work to do tomorrow, but Fwap a' durp will stay behind and play with you."
The little brown bat perched on his red hard hat squeaked quietly, a cheerful noise. Saffron smiled upon hearing it, snuggling closer to her pillow. "Mkay," she agreed. She closed green eyes, a smile on her face at the thought of playing with her fathers pet bat the next day. Vechs leaned over her carefully, flicking the lever next to the Redstone Lamp next to her bed to an off position. Pulling on his goggles, he could see his daughter clearly, in a greenish yellow light. She breathed evenly, she always fell asleep so fast.
Giving her one last 'good night' kiss on her forehead, he pushed himself off of her bed quietly, leaving the room and shutting the door with a very quiet 'click!' behind him. The hallway he was in now was perfectly illuminated, the walls yellow due to the sandstone material he worked with, and lava falls lighting up the way. Grabbing his pick lying against the wall, he strode off with determination in his steps.
As he worked at the stone, carving out caverns and setting traps carefully behind him, he thought. He thought about his wife, whom he had loved with all his heart, her smile, her curly light brown hair, and stunning green eyes that had captured his heart. They had been perfectly happy in the Kingdom belonging to King Nebris - the Engineer of the castle, and a cook from the kitchens. But when Nebris had made it a rule, that all young females were to work in the castle as servants, Vechs knew that would never happen to his future daughter. He had planned to take his wife away, to a far away Kingdom where he, his future children, and his wife, would be safe. But without children, they would be safe with King Nebris.
He hadn't expected to have a child so soon.
When that had happened, admittedly, he had panicked. He needed an excuse to get out of the Kingdom with his wife and soon to be child safely. He needed a way to escape without making it obvious. So, he had approached King Nebris with a request. He 'needed' supplies for the latest thing he had been working on. He also requested that he take his wife, for she could help him carry back all the supplies that he needed.
The ploy, had worked. The plan, had not.
They ran. They had run for their lives, but just the slightest hesitation on his part had cost his wife her life, just after the baby had been birthed. For hours after that, he had screamed his rage into the sky, until his throat had simply gave out on him and he collapsed to his knees. It was only when the baby, a girl, had started to wail because she was hungry, had he recovered himself.
He had named her Saffron, after his wife's favorite herb.
With Saffron, he had slowly come up with another plan. He was going to continue running, but he would leave little 'traps' behind him. He had planned for a two year excursion, a two year absence with King Nebris. He had talked about an excursion to the Nether, and King Nebris knew how long those would take. He had a little bit over a year to execute his plan. That would be plenty of time to put his plan into motion.
Not many people knew this about him. He was originally a Miner before he became the esteemed Engineer of the castle. Hard grunt work like this meant nothing to him. He would carve out every cave in a perfect box shape in Minecraftia, if it meant his daughter would be safe.
And so, in that fashion, they ran. Vechs changed entire jungles, under ground caves, even covering a whole plain with lava, to slow, and maybe even stop his pursuers. Saffron grew up, until she was nearly at 10 years old. Then, he began to teach her the ways of survival. Years passed, and they both grew older. Now, she was 12, and he, 36. No longer was he in his prime, but he was as sly as a fox, and tricky as a thief. And he had taught his daughter well.
And one day, after he had converted a desert to a place of death and covered another plain with lava, they stopped running. They took up their picks, and together, dug out the area under the lava covered plain, and called it the 'Inferno Mines'. There, they hid. Both were tired of running.
Now, was the time for them to stand, and fight.
