Draw stuff! It's good for you.

...I actually don't really have a feature for this week, oops. Feel free to suggest features for the future!

But here's a thing: does knowing what the guys really look like affect how you draw them? If you knew what Chris (real life Nebris) looked like, would you use his features with violet eyes when drawing Nebris? Does kurtjmac (as the Minecraft character) look like David Tennant, or does he look like Kurt wearing the Tenth Doctor's clothing, or something completely different/in between? I've noticed, for example, that there's at least two "canons" for Guude: the "bishounen" one Sixelona drew before she knew what Jason actually looked like that others have since adopted, and one much closer to Jason himself.

Also, again I'm stepping out for the weekend. I probably will be able to get the last post of Group Rewatch 2.5 up on Saturday as well as the chat post on Sunday, but expect further delays and feel free to put them up yourself if you're feeling impatient. Next weekend I will definitely be away with a very small chance of posting, so I may ask for folks to cover for me. Group Rewatch 3 is coming soon, and by overwhelming agreement it will be OOG Portal 2, so look forward to it!

Oh yeah, and we're officially approved for Yuletide, in "Other Media". (I think they figured out their mistake for the Mindcrack vs. Minecraft thing as well.) Minecraft as a whole is not there, and neither is Minecraft LPs, so apologies for those of you holding out for Biffa/Hypnotizd or something. XD For those participating, all fandoms/characters eligible to write about this year are here. If you are participating, you get to pick three or four fandoms from that list to request (to get as a gift), and need to pick at least four fandoms from the list to offer to write for someone else. Signing up for said fandoms begins October 15, so this is a good time to start perusing the list and picking out what you want to request and offer! I've found that sometimes the IRL looks do influence me and sometimes it doesn't. I think it really only influences when I get the impression that the skin is based on them IRL vs. obviously not. For instance, GenerikB doesn't look anything like a toothless old Hermit, so that doesn't influence me. DocM is nothing like a cyborg creeper, Zisteau is nothing like a zombie pigman, Pause doesn't look like his skin. (Though I might use the fact that Alex is really tall to depict him the tallest of the group, not sure.) Guude DOES look a lot like his skin and I get the impression he chose it because it looks like him. Same with Bdubs. Something like Kurt is a bit trickier but I'd probably veer more toward looking like Kurt since I feel like he's diverged from the Tennant skin more and more. But I think I'd definitely override the features of the skin vs. IRL features (unless I'm writing RPF). So, I don't know if Guude actually has green eyes, but he always will for me because his skin does. To that end, if Nebris looks similar to his skin, but has brown eyes or something, I'd still give him purple ones. But I think it's also really cool that in general this fandom is open toward most interpretations of the guys.

That's a very good question. Hmm...

Bit of a mixture for me, I think. Mostly minecraft skins, but it seems like a few of them have skins based on their RL selves, so some of that comes through too. Also those that we do see IRL more often (BDubs, etc) sometimes adds weight to the mind's eye picture.

I tend to draw quite stylised, so the individual features from mc skins help to instantly indentify them.

I've never drawn them, but I'd be more inclined to base it off their skins at least at first. Though for Kurt, probably a blend. If you wanted a more human Zisteau you could always stick him in a zombie pigman hoody and have him be human. I kind of like that idea. For some reason I imagine his human form like that with black skinny jeans and really long legs. I dunno why ._.'

As far as art goes, that pic called 'First Recess' that's been on top of the sub for at least a day now is absolutely smoking hot. The little Beef/Pause-ness from Pause leaning on Beef only makes it cuter, and Pause and Etho's arms are definitely touching, though not their hands. My Team Canada triad definitely uses those interpretations of the boys, right there.

Still waiting on my pic of Nebsy. I think I would always picture him with purple eyes, because of the skin - I imagine he must look at least somewhat like his skin, like Guude and Bdubs do. I prefer the bishie version of Guide just because I really like bishie guys...but for the non-human Mindcrackers, I have furry tendencies and am totally into anthropomorphic art, so things like Six's latest Frillbee (stupid sexy sheep) are so beyond incredibly fine for me.

I can't draw for shit, of course, so this is all conjecture.

Not terribly much, other than Six's UHC art, a handful by Gomeric, and RedDye's take (and probably some random doodles I've been forgetting). I think

crystalllized is referring to Nebris promising facecam, though.

I'm not doing Yuletide, but I just looked at the list of stuff you can choose from, and wow at some of the stuff that I've heard of and would not have expected to show up. XD

And since people have been talking about how they imagine Zisteau, the solution my brain came up with, if I wanted a more human appearance, is something I call "zombie pigman lite." I still want to stay somewhat true to his skin, so there are pigman-ish features, but more subtle. Instead of huge patches of rotted flesh and exposed bone, large patches of skin discoloration
