Screw this place, I'm going somewhere else!
By this point, I've found quite a few people. I've been really fortunate, but I knew this was the point where I really have to start branching out further than I've been before to hopefully find new people. And I'd been keeping track of who I was missing. I even had this failed idea for a Mindcrack team bingo card with all the "sets" like Team Canada and the UHC teams. But I couldn't come up with enough to fill out an entire bingo card-- heck, there aren't even enough individual people in this mod to fill out an entire bingo card, but I still kept an eye on which sets I had. And my conspicuous lack of Pause was in the way of completing a lot of these teams. After finding so many people, it struck me that I had yet to see him at all.
But that's why I'm still looking.
I guess this is as good a spot as any to start a new map. I had just been boating along the coast for a while, but I should stop to explore things proper eventually.
I make the map and continue along the coastline. The jungle becomes plains, and something else I notice very quickly is how many Guudes there are here. There's a few others scattered about, but mainly there's Guudes for days. I call it Guude Country, and find it sad that it's nowhere near BdoubleO Country.
Oh, there's a village here too! This could be a good secondary base of operations while I'm this far from home.
And those two buildings? That's the entire village. Smallest village I've ever seen. And Guude's the self proclaimed mayor.
Two buildings and a well. Real nice place.
Um, guy? The village is up there... Oh never mind, he's zombie meat anyway.
I start exploring the land more fully, venturing inland, into a pine forest. And finally something catches my eye in the fog line.

Yes, Pause! Finally, I've found you!
In the process of getting Pause to the village, I encounter my second MC. This place is paying off.
Another Pause! Now we've got three guys to take back to the village, and we're going to have the best house party ever!
Of course, with the overabundance of Guudes, a few get in the way on the way back. And this house is way too small for this many guys plus two party crashing Guudes.
Pause 2 was giving me the most trouble getting inside, so I give up and dig him a pit out back while Pause 1 and MC are inside with the Guudes. Don't worry, I'll find you some new friends soon. But really, it's your own fault you're out here. If only you stayed in the house while I blocked everyone in...
No Guude, you're not even supposed to be in here. If I didn't have my pact to not intentionally harm any of you, you wouldn't still be here. That and you do throw great parties.
Back out exploring, I continue through the pine forest, skirting the biome line between that and the jungle. I mostly follow rivers for now, filling out as much of the map as I can, then maybe I'll go through it again later to see what I missed. At one point along a river, I see some sugar canes under the water, with the river water flowing over it into a ravine. I had never seen sugar cane like that, so I go over to get a screen shot...
NO, SHIFT KEY FAILURE! CONTROL-Z! UNDO!
....
I have been overconfident. I had been using beds to skip the night while exploring, but it was always the same bed, breaking it each morning. That means I'm back at the beginning, miles away from the village in Guude Country. But with some relief I realize the most valuable thing I had on me was my maps. But could I find it again?

Date: Monday, September 24th, 2012 10:32 pm (UTC)Oh no! Here comes the suspense building! Will Isi be able to return to Guude Country and find some Pauses for our lonely Beefs, or will they forever be stuck in a pen trying to get everyone else to pay attention to them?
I often find myself trying to control-z just about every mistake, whether in a game or real life or whatever. It got so bad during the semester I was taking CAD...I spent so much time drafting that I even found myself actually moving my hands to do control-Z in real life. No undo in Minecraft though!
