Fanfic - Hitchhiking

mindcrackloveI have no idea why I'm writing this other then I want to, and because MC is awesome?
Chapter 1
MC found himself sitting on an empty beach in a small, normally uninhabited planet in a very inhabited sector of space. He had hitched a ride here in the hopes of seeing Disaster Area in person. Unfortunately, their auditors had caught up to them, causing them to flee the system rather early. So he was now stuck on an empty planet, with no show. Flopping down on his towel, he pondered if he was cut out for this hitchhiking stuff.
Three days ago he had been working for a small shoe surveying company. His only job was to inspect soles for defects. He was very very good at it. But it was the boring job his mother had wanted him to do. He knew his dad use to be a writer for the Hitchhiker's Guide, but otherwise mother never talked about it. She'd only say something about a dimensional paradox and some voracious creature.
Two days and twenty two hours ago, he had heard that Disaster Area was playing in his quadrant of space. And at that moment, he made the snap decision to quit his job, and become a hitchhiker. It was odd, when he went to buy a guide, he had to input his name. When he did, it welcomed him back, and gave him editing privileges. He shrugged it off, and hitched a ride to this small planet, renamed for the event to the creatively named, Destruction Zone.
His ride had left him hear when they had heard that the event was canceled, laughing their asses off (they had several asses, they didn't mind losing a few). He feared it was because he couldn't stop talking about the concert. He was resigned to the fact he might be stuck here forever. He sighed, staring up at the sky.
A large shadowy figure blocked his view of the sky. Waving his hand, he tried to move the shadow, before realizing it was a person. Coughing softly, he sat upright, staring at the person.
“Hi.” MC said politely. The figure stared down at MC, before sitting down on the towel with him. “Hi. You are MC Gamer, correct?” the figure asked, tilting his head slightly. “Uh, yeah? Do I know you?” MC asked, confused. “No. I use to work with your dad. I saw you are picking up where he left off. He asked me to offer you a spot hitchhiking with me if you ever got into the business,” the figure nodded, pulling out his own guide.
MC gaped, unsure what to say. Suddenly he realized what to say. “Who are you, how can I trust you?” The figure smiled, clapping his hands. “Good, you aren't stupid. My name is Pakratt. Here's a note from your dad before the voracious interdimensional vortex of Grallin ate him.” MC grabbed the letter, opening it up.
“Dear son. Pakratt here is trustworthy. Don't get eaten by vortexes. They hurt.” His father's name was scrawled on the paper. “He named me after himself? Wouldn't that be confusing?” “It is confusing.” Pakratt agreed. “Well, I have a small escape craft nearby, which we should use to get to the small space ship orbiting the planet before the planet explodes.”
“Oh, ok. Wait, the planet is exploding?” Pakratt nodded as he stood up. “But of course. With the cancellation of the concert, the tourist board had to make it up to the fans somehow, and decided to explode a planet instead. They've stopped rioting at least.” “Oh. Ok. Lead on!” MC said, followingthe shadowy figure Pakratt to the small space craft he had somehow managed to hide nearby.
