Author's note: Oh god am I really trying to crank out 3 chapters in one day? Someone please pass the caffeine. I'm gonna need it.
I'm becoming addicted to all you guys' awesome feedback. Seriously. If K/Z fics are my heroine, your feedback is my crack. (Translation: MOAR PLZ.)
No warnings this time either, but I'm starting to think I should add a language warning, just in case things get too heated. I AM going to go back and edit posts and add warnings where appropriate once I really know how things are gonna go down, but right now I've only go the skeleton of the story outlined, and there's not much meat on the bones yet. It's starting to come together but there's still a lot of stuff I'm making up on the fly.
Well, whatever. Ya'll seem to like it, so I must be doing something right.

If Kurt had been making himself scarce before, he was practically non-existent now. Partially because he didn't want to risk a run-in with Zisteau, but mostly because he just felt terrible about their fight a few days ago. Regret plagued him like a disease, but every time he almost managed to work up the courage to send a message Zisteau's way, either the Zombie Pigman wasn't around or he managed to find some excuse not to send what he wrote.
He managed to keep how terrible he felt hidden on camera, at least. When all that was being recorded was your voice it was easy enough to feign cheerfulness. To him, when he played it back, it sounded hollow and fake, but according to the viewers nothing seemed at all odd about how he sounded... The few who caught anything assumed he'd caught a minor cold, and usually kept it to themselves, asking him via private message instead of public comments.
And then there was BDouble0.
One of the other few who had befriended him during his time on the server, Bdubs could tell something was amiss, and he made it very clear when he showed up at the observatory a couple nights after his talk with the Nether-dweller.
Kurt opened the door, and was greeted by Bdubs charging through the entryway, sitting at the dining room table and folding his hands in front of him. Watching the Farlander expectantly, he said only one thing:
"Spill it."
"Nice to see you too. Want some coffee?"
Bdubs just stared.
Kurt sighed, and sat down across from him.
"Look, it's nothing, okay?"
Bdubs snorted incredulously.
"I just... Had a disagreement with someone."
"Whose butt am I kicking then?"
"It's not like that!"
"Then what is it like, Kurt?" He asked, leaning closer. "You come back from caving with Zisteau looking banged up... And not like a monster would have given you... And now you sound like your dog up and died or your cat got hit by a car." He sat back again, folding his arms over his chest. "I'm not leaving until I get the full story so you better just start talking!"
Kurt scrubbed his hand over his face with a long, heavy sigh. "Only on the condition you don't go on the warpath." When Bdubs nodded his agreement, Kurt began the story. He told him about what went wrong in the caves, his new-found apprehension about Zisteau, and their argument, all the way up until the Pigman had walked out, promising no further pursuit of the Farlander.
"He just looked so... Hurt. Like I'd fired an arrow right in his chest." He held his head in his hands, fresh tears dropping from his eyes and onto the table. "I didn't want to... I shouldn't have... I've regretted it since it happened but I'm just so... Scared..."
Bdubs had listened calmly the entire time, playing the part of the silent confidant. Now it was Kurt's turn to fall silent and hope the other man could provide some advice as to how to go about cleaning up this stupid mess...
"I've got one question for you, brother." He said, leaning forward, waiting for Kurt to look up at him before he asked, "What are you more afraid of: Being hurt by Zisteau... Or losing him?"
Kurt thought he had the answer to that ready and waiting. But when he tried to give it he found he couldn't. Not the one he had intended, anyway.
"I guess... Losing him." He answered, surprising himself.
BDouble0 smiled knowingly. "Then I think you already know what you need to do."
Kurt found himself nodding as he wiped his red, wet eyes and sniffled.
BDubs nodded and rose from the table, offering a hand to the explorer, who took it and found himself lifted to his feet and pulled into a hug.
"It ain't bein' fearless that makes you brave, brother." BDubs told him quietly. "It's doin' what needs doin', even when you're afraid."
With that last grain of wisdom imparted to the Farlander, he headed for the door, pausing for just a moment to look back at him, grin, and give an encouraging thumbs up before leaving.

"Zisteau..."
"No, Pause."
"C'mon."
"No!"
"C'mooooon."
"Pause."
"Zisteau!"
"No."
"C'mooooooooooooooooon!"
"Dammit Pause, I don't wanna talk about it!"
This exchange, of course, had been going on for about an hour now, at irregular intervals. Pause had followed Zisteau around the lens as he made some renovations, sometimes watching quietly for almost 5 minutes before trying again to get the Zombie Pigman to talk about whatever had him so down.
The Indian was sure, if he just poked and prodded his friend long enough, eventually he'd get his answers and maybe see what he could do to help. He knew to be cautious when dealing with the Nether-dweller, however, because saying the wrong thing, or pushing too hard could cause him to completely shut him out, or worse, cause his temper to flare.
It almost never did anymore, where Pause was concerned, but it was because of his caution.
But Zisteau was quickly grow weary of the game. They played it almost every time something irked him, and each time it was this exact method that eventually broke down his resistances and made him open up.
And this time, it would seem, was no different.
After about the forth time he turned around to almost crash into the Canadian who had quietly come up behind him, he grumbled in frustration, sat down in a nearby chair, motioned for Pause to join him, and sighed heavily.
Pause smirked with the tiny bit of satisfaction that always came with his small victories over the Pigman, sat in the chair next to him, and waited.
"...It happened again." He said somberly, causing the Indian to do a double-take.
"...Dude. Who?" If Pause wasn't concerned before, he was now.
"...Kurt." Zisteau admitted, explaining what had happened. When he was done, Pause gave a low whistle.
"Well, that explains a lot." The Canadian leaned back and looked up at the ceiling.
"Can I ask you something?" Zisteau said suddenly, causing Pause to tilt his head curiously. "What made you decide to keep trying with me? After... After last time? Why didn't you-"
"Don't even go there, man." He interrupted. "I'd never have done that. You're my friend. For better or for worse. I saw you wanted something more from your life, and I was willing to give you that chance."
"Even after I-"
"Yes. Even after that."
Zisteau sighed and looked over at his oldest friend. "I just don't know what to do... Kurt isn't you. I haven't known him for as long..." He stammered, struggling to find the words.
Pause stood up, walking toward the Endervator. He stopped and smirked over his shoulder at the Pigman. "Yeah maybe not... But I have a feeling he'll come around. Just give him some time."
The Nether-dweller gave Pause a hard look. He knew that smirk. The one that said "I know something you don't". But before he could say something, the Canadian was gone.
Zisteau just hoped he was right.
So I didn't get this one done yesterday, and I'm running on 3 hours of sleep, but here is the new chapter! I'm especially nervous about this one because BDubs and Pause make cameos and I don't watch their videos as frequently. I think I feel okay about how BDubs's character came out, but I'm not so sure about Pause. Feedback please.
