Chapter 21. Skereth's House
Erin was sat in Skereth’s living room. It was the first time Erin had been to her house and she was undeniably nervous. Being in Skereth's home was strange to Erin. She felt like something was going to happen. She wasn't sure what. But something felt like it was looming in the not too distance future. And if she was honest, Erin was excited to see what it was.
Skereth lived in a small town called Highbreak, it’s population was very varied, Erin was sure she’d seen every species so far. It was a lot like Braestin in that sense, just cooler in temperature. Erin had to admit, she wasn't looking forward to returning to the sweltering heat of Skol Prida.
Skereth came back into the room with a glass of homemade cloudy lemonade for them both. She sat down next to Erin and smiled warmly, instantly settling the nerves in her stomach. Skereth leaned forward and placed a tender kiss on Erin's lips, "I will never get over the taste of you, Green Eyes," Skereth purred huskily.
"I would happily kiss you until my lips are bruised," Erin replied and kissed Skereth again. Skereth pulled away first but left her forehead resting against Erin's.
"You are a beautiful creature, Miss Wicken."
"As are you Miss Luran," Skereth just laughed and kissed Erin again. She moved herself with ease and sat on Erin's lap. Skereth placed kisses down Erin's chin and onto her neck. She peppered kissed all over her neck in a tender manner.
Erin felt Skereth's hands roaming, "Skereth..." she said slowly, trying to keep her focus through the haze Skereth was putting her in. Skereth made a "mhm" noise and continued, "this is…really nice, but I don't think I'm ready to...you know, yet..,"
Skereth sat up and took her hands from Erin's legs, "Yeah? Alright, let's do something else then." She then grinned as if she'd had a brilliant idea, “Can you teach me to cook something from Earth?”
Erin nodded, “I guess, I’d have to look at what you have in your cupboards,” she was so grateful to Skereth for not trying to force her to do anything she didn't want to do. Although, she would have never expected Skereth to do that anyway.
“Alright, I’m sure I have something we could use.” Skereth stood up and grabbed Erin’s wrist, pulling her into the kitchen.
Once in the kitchen Erin started to rummage through the cupboards and what seemed to be the Sunreth equivalent of a fridge. She realised quickly that Skereth all the ingredients needed for making pizza.
After placing all of the required ingredients on the table Erin turned to Skereth, “We’re making pizza.”
“And that is?”
“Something you’re going to fall in love with,”
“Alright, that sounds great.”
Erin started walking Skereth through the process of making the pizza base. Skereth already had some knowledge of making bread, so that made teaching her a lot easier. It didn’t, however, make it any cleaner.
“Hey Erin, you have some flour on your face,”
“Where?”
“Just,” Skereth smeared flour down Erin’s nose, “there.”
Erin raised her eyebrows, “That’s not fair, you’re so damn tall I can’t do that in return.”
“Nope,” Skereth grinned cockily.
But Erin had other ideas. She smeared her floury hand down Skereth’s front. This then started a flour war that ended with more flour on the two of the them than there was in the mixing bowl.
“Come on,” Erin said and started to make the pizza base again.
They finished it and set to work making the sauce. Skereth proved to be quite good at this. She finely chopped the basil while Erin sliced the tomatoes. She had to improvise a little as she hadn’t made sauce from scratch without a blender before.
After mixing everything together she tried the sauce and felt quite pleased with herself. She didn’t tell Skereth that this was her first time making the sauce the way she had.
Shaping the base was always something Erin struggled with so she hoped Skereth would be a natural that this as she seemed to be with other cooking related tasks. Skereth had cooked dinner for everyone a few weeks ago. It had actually been quite good, despite the fact that Skereth gave off the impression that she wouldn’t be a great cook.
As Erin had hoped, Skereth was a natural. They made the pizza, Erin decided to just make it a simple margarita because she wasn’t certain Skereth would like it. She also didn't trust her with anything else. They slid it into the oven and started to tidy up the mess they’d made.
“Wow, it smells so good!” Skereth exclaimed excitedly while the pizza cooked.
“Yep, I told you, you would love it.”
They pulled it out of the oven and Erin cut it up into slices then she placed it in front of Skereth for the moment of truth.
Skereth picked up a slice and Erin had an entertaining few seconds of watching Skereth trying to work out how to eat it. Skereth tried it and her eyes went wide. She then proceeded to devour the whole slice before grabbing another.
“You may not have magic, but your people sure do know how to cook.”
“Not my people specifically, it’s from a place called Italy.” Erin explained.
“I see, well wherever it’s from, it’s great. I want to have it every day from now on.” Skereth proclaimed.
Erin laughed, “It’s not very healthy, I wouldn’t advise that,”
“I have a good metabolism, I’ll be fine,”
“I hate you,” Erin grumbled.
“Nah, it’s good for you. I’ll always look good in a state of undress,”
“Skereth!”
“Erin!”
“You are a nightmare,”
“You still like me,”
Erin sighed, “Yes, I do, come here,” Skereth walked over and hung herself over Erin's shoulder, "Skereth."
"Yes, Erin?"
"What are you doing?"
"I came over to you, like you asked."
"You're a goofball."
Skereth stepped back, "I am," she tilted her head to the side, "Say, Erin."
"Hm?"
"How would you like to attend the ball together?"
Erin frowned, "I thought we were?"
Skereth shook her head, "No, what I mean is attend together, together. Like as another date?"
"You were planning this from the moment you asked me on that first date, weren't you?" Skereth nodded and grinned, "You sly fox,"
"That's me, sly and foxy."
Erin grabbed the collar of Skereth's shirt and gently pulled it down, "I couldn't agree more," she purred before kissing her.
