PAX, Day One

Guude, I know you're reading this, so hi. The rest of you, thought I would give you a quick summary of my day:

-Ran into MC in the expo hall. Shouted "MC!" and freaked him out a little, poor dear. Told him I was from the salad stand and it took him a bit, but he got it.
-Went to the Shaft panel, went to get my badge signed by Guude and Genny beforehand. Told Guude I was from the shipping site; he asked if I felt confident enough (referencing my last post here to him), I said "NO I FEEL SUPER AWKWARD" and he laughed.
-Handed my badge to Genny to have Guude inform him that I'm the one 'responsible for all the shipping'. Laughter ensued. Ironically, Ms. Mod followed me on Twitter at this exact moment.
-Gave BTC a hug because he's awesome.
-Panel was awesome and fun. Lots of good jokes about bees and turtles. AntVenom filmed it, so if you missed it you should be able to catch it somewhere.
-Afterwards, I ran up to Van who shoved me in the direction of Nebs, saying "look she's cute you did good!". More laughter. Got my badge signed by the rest of the remaining Mindcrackers on the way out of the panel room.
-We all missed the House Rules panel because it was full by the time we got down there, so a bunch of the Hermits and Genny and the others went for food while the rest of us hung around to wait for Guude and Joe.
-Joe used his real voice for a few minutes! I like his fake accent better, weirdly.
-We had a little meetup by an escalator where Guude revealed to everyone else my status as our representative, and then proceeded to tease me every time something slightly homoerotic occurred. It was awesome, but I didn't have tons of battery to film the whole thing, and also filming the real people when what I ship mostly are the characters just felt a little odd. Chatted with BTC, Nebs, and Pause as well as people from the Fanserver and Wannabe Fanserver and Reddit Server, etc.
-We walked down to the FTB tournament area, and I hung out with Van and BTC and Nebs for a bit before I left for dinner with my friends. I would have stayed, but tonight the Mindcrackers are having a not-so-secret business dinner, so I went to go eat.
-Back in my hotel now reflecting on the awesome day. Tomorrow, I will probably stay out much later and hopefully we will go drinking or something. I do owe Nebs a drink, after all!

Any questions? I do have pics, but not many, and honestly Van took the same ones, so you've seen them already on his twitter. Tomorrow may not get a summary post like this one depending on my inebriation, but I'll sum it up at the end.

This is awesome. How many other Mindcrack fans were there? Did they get crazy swarmed at any point?

There were bunches of fans other than me, but not a whole ton of swarming. People on the whole seemed to keep reasonable space md there were actually a bunch of shy fans during the meetup that Van had to like, push forward towards the Crackers.

I love that Van is the official unofficial Mindcrack Fan Liaison. Seriously, why isn't he at least on the fan server yet? (Unless he is and I missed it somehow.)

So Guude announced the shipping thing. I take it the rest of them were already familiar with our existence to some degree?

Van is so sweet. He's probably reading this too, but Van, you're awesome and totally helped me feel welcome and awesome as well.

Yeah, it seemed like most people are aware of it, even many of the fans. I caught one kid on the site on his phone, too, trying to find something to show Guude, I think.

Joe's real voice is a strange little thing. I've watched one of his other panels where he used it and it was kind of odd and disorienting, but it also...suits him when he's not making video, I guess? I dunno. If you want a whole lot of Joe Hills' video making voice (and delicious philosophy), I highly recommend the Morning Musings videos, where he sails eternally while musing about the Dao De Jing.

I'm glad you're having a blast! Give MC a hug for me at some point? (If you're both okay with it, that is.) And enjoy that drink with Nebsy, and possibly many more. \o/

Damn! You are lucky! PAX looks like its been a ton of fun. It's cool that we have someone from this little place there.. We are spreading...
You know, it's really weird when I think about it, but, the mindcrackers are just ordinary guys! And here they are getting minecon panels and being shipped. Plenty of people see them as their idols, as celebrities! But I can say that %98.6 of people in my town have no idea what Mindcrack is. I'm not quite sure what in trying to say here. Much rambling is done. :P

That is a weird sort of thing to traverse, seeing them as internet "celebrities" versus normal people. Like, of course they're regular people, but the relationship we have with them as fans to creators is so different from any other relationship we normally have with other people we know, so there's not a good benchmark for comparison. That's something I've been thinking about lately.

Ah man I've been enjoying the summaries, so much fun is being had up at PAX haha. Part of me wishes I was there but then the other half is scared that I would be one of the fans that was being pushed forward XD;;

When I'm feeling better and less busy, of course. I came home with the PAX Plague and had to run straight off to work every day, record videos, etc. Still haven't even unpacked! But you will hear from me soon, promise.
