"Well why don't we go punch that tree and make some ladders or something?" said Baj.

MC's expression lit up with an idea. "Hold on, I got this one! I'll use my advanced wall staple technique! I learned it from Mother 3."

"Yes, those would be ladders. I just said that. But never mind. Why don't you ladder your way inside and nick some of those emeralds, and I'll stay out here and warn you if anything happens. Think you can handle that?"

"I'm going to win."

"That's the spirit."

MC disappeared over the wall as Baj stayed behind and fantasized about all the wonderful shopping he was going to do. But as the minutes dragged on and MC had not reappeared, Baj began to suspect something was wrong. He scaled the ladder and had a peek at what was going on inside.

"Oh for fuck's sake," he muttered.

MC was seated on the ground, happily cuddling a waggily-tailed wolf puppy and feeding it steak. "Who's a good boy Jerry? Who's a good boy? Yes you are!"

"Oi!"

"Look, I found Jerry!"

"Emeralds?"

"Hm? Oh, yeah, here." MC reached into his pockets and handed Baj several stacks of sparkling green gems.

"That'll do nicely. Now, to the shops." Baj set off at a brisk pace. MC followed after him, the puppy nestled under his jacket.

"Hey Baj?"

"Hm?"

"... where are the shops, anyway?"

"Did someone say shops?" A voice from above called down to them. A brightly coloured hot air balloon floated just outside the castle, with Doc peering over the edge of the basket and waving. A moment later a rope ladder dropped down beside them.

"I know just the place! Hop in!"
