Journey Chpt. 3: A New Presence
Sunday, October 25th, 2015 04:42 pmA new presence may or may not be a bad thing
Kurt awoke to the slight rustle of leaves and a low growl from the wolf who lay beside him.
He quickly opened his eyes, scanning around himself without moving. He saw feet standing not far away.
He looked up and saw a man, actually more of a young adult really, standing near him, looking at him curiously.
Wolfie moves and sniffs the man, deeming him safe.
Kurt sits up, looking the man over curiously. He was tall, but not as tall as Kurt. He had long ish blonde hair and blue-green eyes, which Kurt found mesmerizing. He looked to be about Kurt's age.
"W-who are you? what do you want?" Kurt asks, backing away slightly.
"Zisteau's the name, I was just wandering through the forest when I saw smoke and I came to investigate." The man, Zisteau, says, looking at Kurt, as if trying to figure something out.
"Right...."
"What are you doing out here in the forest?"
"Going on a trip"
"Where to?"
"Don't know yet."
"Oh... well if you were heading west, I was wondering if I could join you, I'm on a journey as well."
Kurt found the offer intriguing, though he wasn't sure if he could trust this man yet.
"Um.... I guess you could tag along..." Kurt finally replies, albeit hesitantly.
"Great!" Zisteau says, sending Kurt a smile.
Kurt packed up what little he had and the two, accompanied by Wolfie, set off, continuing west.
"My names Kurt, by the way" Kurt says after a long while of the three just walking.
"Sooo... Kurt, were you from?"
"A small town just east of here... you?"
"I'm from austikad. It's a big city in the north."
"How old are you?"
"17"
Kurt had thought that he'd looked to be around his own age.
"I'm 16"
"And I thought I was leaving the house at a young age" Zisteau says jokingly
Kurt sighs and continues on, not bothering to continue with their conversation.

Night began to fall as the two set up camp for the night. Zisteau built a fire and Kurt set up his blanket.
"I don't have much food with me" Zisteau says
"I have some, but not much." Kurt replies
Kurt took out a half loaf of bread, the rest of what he hadn't eaten already.
Zisteau had a little bit of cheese and a tiny bit of bread.
Kurt felt bad, having more to eat than Zisteau, so he tore off some of the bread and handed it to Zisteau, who offered Kurt a hesitant smile.
"Thanks"
Kurt nods and eats what bread was left.

After the sun had shined its last colorful rays of the day and had dipped below the horizon, drowning the forest in darkness, making the stars and moon shine brightly through the clearing, Kurt sat by the fire, blanket wrapped around himself.
It had been a long day, not only had Kurt found someone to walk with, they'd made it quiet a ways.
Kurt looked at his new friend, who was sleeping on the other side of the small fire. He was illuminated by the fire light, which danced across his body.
It hadn't been long since Kurt had left home. He had left thinking maybe he'd find himself again, but to Kurt, it was hopeless.
Kurt stared up at the night sky full of brightly shining stars, all that Kurt thought were brighter than his future.
He was in awe of the stars and how they always shined brightly, never burning out.
Kurt looked back to the crackling fire, contemplating all the things that had been presented to him.
