Ever since Kurt's mom died he's felt different. He feels trapped at home, so he leaves on a journey, hoping to find that piece of himself that he lost.

"Why do you want to leave so bad? what's wrong with it here?" Lexi asks, standing in the doorway of the room.

"It's not that I want to leave... its just... I feel so trapped.... I just want to explore" Kurt says, looking out the window, watching the rain fall from the dark grey clouds.

"Your only 16 Kurt, you shouldn't be worrying about this type of thing. You should be playing video games, watching TV, and avoiding school work, not sitting here in your room contemplating life."

"Yeah, and your only 21, you should be out having fun and not taking care of me." Kurt says, not looking away from the window.

"Kurt, I know it's been hard since mom... you know.... but it's what has to happen, you can't legally be on your own and I'm the only family you have left."

"I know... you've told me so many times before."

A silence settles between them, Kurt staring out at the constantly falling rain, Lexi standing in the doorway, not knowing what to do.

"I know I can't stop you, Kurt" Lexi says, finally getting Kurt to look away from the window, revealing his dull, emotionless blue eyes, that had once been vibrant and full of life.

"Stop me?"

"From leaving, I know you want to."

"I don't know what I want Lexi, I really don't" Kurt says with a sigh, looking back out of the window.

"At least think about what your leaving behind first." Lexi says, leaving the doorway.

Kurt sighed as he stared out the window, watching the rain trickle down the window, the drops leaving streaks.

Kurt hadn't felt right, ever since him mom died. He hadn't felt like he belonged anymore. He didn't have friends, beyond his pet wolf, he didn't want any either. He was lonely, to be honest, his sister was the only family he had left.

He had thought about leaving, exploring the world around him. He knew he'd have to leave his sister behind, but it honestly didn't bug him too much.

He wasn't attached to anyone or anything here. There was nothing holding him back, all he needed to do was pack the essentials and walk out the door, away from the small town he lived in.

Kurt looked out the window, at the rain that had finally stopped falling and made a decision.

He grabbed a bag and put clothes in it, also grabbing his small telescope and his compass, the one his father had given him.

Kurt headed out the door, his shaggy companion by his side, and he wandered towards the forest to the west, ready to begin his adventure.

Oh boy. Here we go again!

(Will there be more An Experiment to Save Humanity soon? The last chapter was kind of a cliffhanger.)
