It's a bit of a shorter chapter today, but you'll see why when you get to the end. I just had to cut it off there. :3

Chapter Thirty-Eight

Kingdom of Orvex, Minecraftia. October 15, year 573. Time instance 483Z.

“We’ve been searching the city for hours. I’m thinking your unicorn doesn’t know what she’s doing.” Claire remarked, crossing her arms. Teramelle had led them all over the city, looking more and more confused as time went on.

Adrian shot her a withering glare. The sun was starting to go down and he was getting very tired of walking. “It’s hard to find one person in a huge city like this, even for her. Give her a break.”

“Are you sure there’s one more?”  Zekara asked. “No one here strikes me as having a grand destiny.”

“Everyone kinda sucks.” Nia agreed.

They walked for several more minutes before a man on a horse caught Shred’s attention- or, rather, the emblem on his shield did. The colors and symbol were familiar, somehow, some-

“Hey!” Shred reached out and tapped on the man’s leg, getting his attention, which was impressive considering the fact that he was wearing full metal armor and likely couldn’t feel most contact. He glanced down at her, brown eyes curious.

“Yes?”

“That’s a Dalanian shield.” Shred’s words got the group’s attention, and those few that were more familiar with the world recognized the emblem immediately.

“Yes, it is.” The man seemed to straighten his back slightly with pride. “I am Nak, one of the lords of Dalania.” He hesitated. “Or…I would have been. The Shattering occurred when I was a child and I never got the chance to take over from my father.”

Velloh raised an eyebrow. “What are you doing here in Ahnrak, then? It’s kinda far from Dalania.”

Nak sighed. “Yes. It is. But I’ve been wandering ever since I was old enough to wander- I never could figure out what to do with my life. If only the kingdom could be rebuilt and I could find my place again! Alas, the last of the Davions fell in the Shattering. Dalania is forever broken.” He looked very depressed.

“Well, good news.” Nia stepped forward to the front of the group, dragging Adrian with her. “My name is Dalania Davion and this is my cousin, Adrian Davion. I’m the daughter of the last Dalanian king.” Well that feels weird to say. “I’m on a mission to save the world and then after that…who knows. Maybe I’ll become a queen or something.”

Nak stared, disbelief written across his face. Nia pushed up her goggles to meet his eyes and he felt a jolt run through him as he looked over the two Davions. He had seen the king and queen once as a child, and this Dalania girl certainly looked like their child. Plus, they had a daughter when the Shattering occurred…

The heir to the throne that he had sworn to follow.

Nak practically jumped off his horse and knelt before her. “My queen!”

Nia jerked backward in surprise, not expecting that. “Um, wh- I mean, yes, okay!” She shot Shred a look of help me, earning a laugh from the Skullblade.

“I..I mean…I’m not really a queen…”

“You’re the closest we have.” Nak told her, head bowed. “Would you permit me to assist you in your quest to save the world and rebuild Dalania?”

Nia fumbled with her pocket, withdrawing the stone. “I need you to hold this, first. If it glows when it contacts your skin, then you’re one of us- part of the prophecy.”

Nak raised his head and nodded, pulling at the glove on one of his hands and removing it. He held out his palm and allowed Nia to drop the stone into it, watching as it lit up merrily when it touched his skin.

Nia took the stone back and nodded. “Rise, Lord Nak. You’re with us.”

Nak pulled his glove back on and tried to hide the joyful grin that spread across his face. “Thank you, thank you! You won’t regret this.”

“No, but you might.” Nessy muttered, thinking of the Hostile that they had encountered.

“We’re here.” Samuel folded up the map and looked around. Other than being in a clearing relatively close to the jungles of Sunspire, there didn’t seem to be anything special about the area in question.

“We’re where?” Valkan demanded. “This looks like the middle of nowhere.”

“We just have to wait and see.” Zel told him, stepping forward and creating a stone tent for himself, summoning the stone slabs from the ground. “We will likely have to wait until the Ahnrak group gets here, and I, for one, am looking forward to getting more rest.”

“It’s early in the night!” Tranpar protested. “Why are you sleeping?”

“I sleep whenever I can.” Zel told him, crawling into the tent.

Tarsen glanced up at the sky and noticed that it wasn’t even midnight. “So, what? We just kinda chill here for however long it takes for Nia and the others to get here?”

“Pretty much.” Marcus grumbled and sat down. “Watch. They’ll have died and will never get here.”

“There’s more capable than that.” Samuel said, confident. “Trust me. Shred may lack common sense when it comes to navigation, but she can fight and won’t lead them into death. Even if Nia’s ended up as leader, she’s not a bad choice either.”

As the group split up somewhat to set up camp and to relax for the first time in awhile, Axid pulled away to sit against a tree and shut her eyes. She needed some time to think over all that had happened to her recently.

Swept off her feet by her own destiny into a whirlwind of chaos.

She remained like that for about an hour before the sound of an angry voice reached her ears. She identified the voice as Valkan’s and got to her feet, opening her eyes. She followed the sound a little ways into the trees and frowned at what she saw.

Trymdas was shrinking back from his brother, shaking slightly and looking terrified, as Valkan practically screamed abuse at him. Axid didn’t really listen to the exact words, but she caught something about Trymdas being a useless disappointment. Valkan’s eyes seemed to glint slightly blue in the moonlight, but Axid was fairly certain that it was just her imagination as her mind clouded over with anger.

Axid stormed forward, drawing her sword and before she knew what she was doing, had it at Valkan’s throat.

Valkan froze mid-word and stared at the sharp steel that had suddenly been pointed at his neck. He looked Axid in the eye and stepped back, getting the message. He snarled as she lowered her sword and vanished into the trees.

Axid hissed by blowing air through her teeth and sheathed her sword, turning to Trymdas. He was still shaking but stood up a little straighter, nodding to her. “Thanks.” His voice was quiet. “He’ll come back, you know, and he’ll be mad at you. Please don’t get in his way again…”

Axid frowned. [Why? He’s just a bully.]

Trymdas shook his head. “I don’t know what you’re saying. But he can hurt you. He’s terrible… Please. I don’t want to see you hurt.” A shiver ran down his spine as he shoved his hands in his pockets and made his way back to camp.

Furious, evil powers swirling within him.

Axid watched him leave before turning at the sound of footsteps. Onai stepped out from behind a tree and approached her, a single eyebrow raised.

“I had no idea you could do something like that.”

Axid shivered. [I wouldn’t have killed him or anything. I just knew he couldn’t understand me and when people can’t read your words, you have to speak with actions.] She paused. [They can read those.]

Onai nodded. “Be careful around him.”

[Why? I don’t understand.]

“You don’t want to.” Onai shuddered. “Believe me. That guy…what he’s done…” Onai leaned against a tree, looking sick. “He’s a monster.”

Axid leaned on the tree as well, looking at him and how much this seemed to affect him. [You had to see it all, didn’t you?]

Onai nodded. “I didn’t see all of it. Just a lot. And what I did see…he makes me sick. Valkan makes me very, very angry and I feel like my soul has been sucked out when I think about what he’s done. He’s messed up in the head, it’s amazing his brother has done as well as he has…” Onai was hit by another wave of shivers, and this time Axid shifted in order to hug him.

She sighed quietly. Maybe she should have just stabbed Valkan and gotten it over with.

Baj, Pyro, and Anderz all seemed very excited to finally be in the majority of people- the ones whose descendants had become ‘relevant.’ The others, especially Guude, were starting to feel left out, as their orbs still had yet to activate even after about a month. None felt worse about the descendant orbs than Coe, though, who had lost his descendant and thus his had shattered.

Coe had swept up the bronze sand that was all that remained of his orb and kept it in a jar, in some kind of bizarre memorial to Vorna. He had done quite a bit of moping and had become somewhat reclusive, but he seemed to be recovering at a decent rate. He felt like he had lost a friend and had resorted to looking on with Pause, tracking the progress of Aldobiva. As the two were always together, it was the closest thing to Vorna he had.

Vechs watched their excitement with a dull sense of envy. As much as he enjoyed watching Nia, he was constantly anxious over what might happen to her, and he kept glancing at the orb he had recovered from Blame. The Skullblade hadn’t confronted him about it, only sighing when he saw that Vechs had it back.

Vechs sighed and pushed the cracked orb into his toolbelt, not wanting to deal with it at the moment. It was relatively early on the sixteenth, Minecraftia time, and his descendant and her group seemed to be having a decent time traveling out of Ahnrak. They were once again approaching the plains when-

Oh no.

It's a show by Aphmau, season two is more drama filled, in fact I'm watching it right now. You could probably get some ideas for Fated out of it, it's very intricate.

Rule number one of reading: when a chapter ends with "oh no" there's gonna be trouble. WHY WE HAVE TO WAIT THREE WHOLE DAYSSSS?

I want to know what's going on with Valkan. Really badly. REALLY badly.

And Nak is cool. If he's going to treat Nia as a queen the whole time, though, stuffz gonna be awkward...
