The MindCrackia Revolution (4th of July Special)
Saturday, July 4th, 2015 06:15 pmWelp, as you all know, it's the 4th of July, aka MURICA DAY HECK YEAH. *cough* Independence day, yeah.
This is a MindCrack version of Paul Revere's Midnight Ride. I wish it could've been longer being at 875 words, but I spent 3 hours on this (4 if you count the research I did; it's been 5 years since I've studied this stuff) and I just want this out. xP
I tried making this as accurate as possible, (besides all the edits did to make this a MindCrack independence story) so several things stated in here may be different than you thought. For example, the riders said "The Regulars are out," not "The British are coming!" The reason that is is because if they described them as the 'British,' they would also be referring to the colonies, for they were British too. Another very overlooked fact is the importance of Samuel Prescott, but you'll learn about that in the story.
If you know the riders, towns, and other terms related to this story, you shall see the puns I made to make this a story about MindCrack's independence. c:
I think I got everything out of the way, so in that case, MERRY 'MURICA DAY!!! :D
Doc Seventyscott checked his pocket watch. He was coming home from Crexington to Mindcord after visiting a sick patient, and it was very late.
1:03 AM. He shoved his watch back into his pocket and kept along the road. Schmetterling snorted from the humid April mist. Nevertheless, he kept to the road, keeping at a slow trot. He didn’t like this neck of Crexington, and he knew something was different about that night, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.
Far behind him, he could hear what sounded like galloping and yelling. Who would be out at this time of night. He looked over his shoulder. Me, I suppose. Probably some lads out for a joy ride. Doc dismissed his suspicions and continued on.
The ruckus started getting closer and closer. He could barely distinguish what they were yelling. “The Unusuals are out! The Unusuals are out!”
Doc rolled his eyes. Dang delinquents. They think they’re so funny. He turned Schmetterling around with full intentions of putting their tomfoolery to a stop. The voices came closer and closer, but Doc was baffled at what he saw.
Two men on horseback came barreling down the streets. Several windows and doors opened as the riders came down the street yelling, “The Unusuals are out! The Unusuals are out!” The men looked up just in time to see Doc blockading their path, and they both skidded to a stop. Both were wearing black coats. One looked like he was in his 40’s, and the other in his 30’s. They both had serious looks on their faces, and they both stared at Doc.
The older one spoke. “State your business. Are you a spy?”
Doc didn’t know how to respond. “What the bloody underworld are you talking about? And why are you running down the streets like mad men?”
The second one turned to the older one. “I think he can be trusted.” He turned back to Doc. “We have no time for dilly-dallying!” And with that, the two kicked their horses and continued with their ride. “The Unusuals are out! The Unusuals are out!”
“Hey!” Doc quickly galloped after the riders. He still wasn’t convinced about their whereabouts.
He was able to catch up to them and he rode beside them before turning his head. “What the frick are you guys doing?”
The younger one replied as the older one kept on shouting. “Are you deaf? The Unusuals are out!”
Doc groaned. “Well, who are you? And what are you doing? Is this some kind of joke?”
“This is not a joke! I’m Milliam Bawes, he’s Paul Revoares Jr..” He paused when they all took a sharp turn to the left, then continued: “The Unusuals are attacking from the shores. Their intentions are to apprehend John B’Dubs and Samuel Anderz in Crexington, then take from Mindcord’s creeper supply. Mr. B’Dubs and Anderz have been alerted already.”
Even with the unusual evidence Doc had before them, Doc had a hard time believing their story. The Unusuals (aka, the Hermitish) controlled these colonies from across seas. Lots of hubbub about revolution has been circulating around the streets lately. Though Doc had full support of it, he didn’t believe it would ever happen.
Despite his thoughts, he followed the riders. He even followed Milliam as he stopped by a few houses as Paul rode on and continued to yell.
Though it wasn’t long after they caught up to Paul halfway to Mindcord. Four Hermitish men blocked the way. “...If you go an inch further, you are a dead man.” They saw Doc and Milliam approaching.
“Aw bloody underworld!” Milliam turned his horse when he saw the blockade and galloped back on the road they were just on.
Doc and Paul did the opposite. Both pushed forward, but the blockade stood strong. The one in the center motioned to the pasture that sat beside the road where some of the fence bars were down. “We demand you into the pasture, or we shall blow your brains out!”
What kind of mess did I get into? Doc couldn’t argue with the law, but he formed a plan. The two reluctantly steered themselves into the pasture.
Though immediately after they entered, Doc yelled, “Put on!” Doc kicked Schmetterling and with that, he broke left and Paul rode right. Doc didn’t dare look behind him to see if he was being pursuited or if Paul, but he reached the edge and managed to jump the stone wall.
He rode a little ways before briefly looking over his shoulder. Paul and the soldiers were no where to be seen. He managed to escape into a damp forest, and though Schmetterling was difficult to traverse with through the swamp-like area, they kept on. He didn’t know the whereabouts of Paul, and Milliam managed to escape, but if they soldiers weren’t pursuing him, they must be pursuing Paul. He had to finish what the others started.
Doc knew the way back to Mindcord, and that was through Lincraft. It didn’t feel like long until the arrived. And before he knew it, he was yelling what the others yelled. “The Unusuals are out! The Unusuals are out!”
