PeanutEmma had no access to a computer, and this is HER STORY.
That note aside, enjoy! :)Feels alert, feels alert
Etho closed his eyes, but that didn’t stop the tears leaking out. They ran down his pale cheeks, being brushed away roughly before they got any further. He took a deep breath, reopening his eyes.
--flashback--
“Etho. We should talk.”
“Hmm? What’s up, Seth?”
“There’s um, something I need to tell you.”
“What is it?”
“Etho. The time we’ve had together has been wonderful, but… I don’t think I love you anymore. I’m sorry, but I think its time for us to go separate ways.”
“Well. I, um… If that’s how you feel, guess… I’ll just be going now. Goodbye, Seth.”
…
Now. He couldn’t remember. That’s what got him in this mess. Digging through his secret chest, looking for something he’d stashed away three months ago.
Three months. That was a long time he’d been clean. Etho stopped digging for a moment, running his hand down his arm, feeling the scars, the raised skin just noticeable from the rest. He hesitated for a second, but as another wave of sadness and anger washed over him, he continued digging.
There.
Etho pulled the small, slim box out, feeling calmer just seeing it. Funny how that worked. How he was so agitated building up to this moment, but when he finally reached it, a strange tranquility engulfed him.
The box lid was eased off, and Etho was greeted by some of his oldest friends. His blades.
“Long time no see,” Etho whispered. He set the box down, assessing each blade individually, remembering the times he used them, what scars they caused. His breath hitched slightly as he found a special one. His first ever blade. A simple blade, taken from a sharpener, but, for Etho, it held much more meaning.
This was the blade he made the first cut with. What a pitiful cut it was, barely a millimetre deep, but, for Etho, it changed his life forever. It was the first time he made the blood flow, and the first time, for a long time, he had felt truly calm.
That was 2 years ago now. And here he was. Reminiscing. How ironic it would be, the first blade used, was the first blade to be used, potentially to reopen that gate way.
Etho sighed, returning all but the one blade to the box. He made his way to the bathroom, making sure to lock the door behind him. He was really going to do this. 3 months of pain, strength and fighting. All down the drain. Literally.
He took a deep breath, holding the blade against his skin, adding a small amount of pressure. He was just about the run the blade down for the first time, when there was a heavy knock on the door.
“Etho?”
Nebris. Damn.
Etho sighed, unlocking the door, greeting Nebris. Nebris was eyeing him suspiciously noticing his sleeves rolled up, the small beads of blood where the blade had been pushed into the skin.
“Etho… Why?”
Etho shrugged. “Because I’m hurting Nebris. Why else?”
Nebris closed his eyes for a second, considering the damage that could’ve been done if he was 30 seconds later. Etho just stood there, ashamed. He can’t believe that he actually considered doing that again. Putting all his friends through anymore pain.
“Nebris, I-”
Etho was cut off by Nebris pulling him into a tight hug, running one hand through his hair, the other round the ninja’s waist. Etho gave in, returning the hug, letting the tears fall, knowing Nebris would keep him safe.
They stood like that for a long time, until Nebris pulled away slightly looking Etho in the eyes.
“Etho. Want a reason to never do that again?”
“Um, okay?”
That was all Nebris needed to pull Etho into a kiss. Not a deep, passionate kiss, but the kiss of someone who wanted to wash away the pain of another. Etho was shocked, he didn’t know Nebris felt this way, but returned the kiss willingly, the pent up emotions being eased.
They had to breath eventually. When they did, their foreheads touched and eyes locked. A simple phrase was said with the eyes alone, no need for it to be said out loud.
“I love you.”
