A nurse popped out of a door by the front desk.
"Come with me!" She turned and walked briskly back though the door. I had to dash after the 'Special'. Were they all so fast? I wondered. The walls were a stark white that looked meticulously cleaned and painted. These people were so smart, fast, able. And organized. Almost like a military force, expect they couldn't be! The nurse led me to room with a stretcher. A tray held a single needle. It was filled with a clear liquid that looked thick and sluggish.
"Sit!" She waved towards the stretcher. I slowly sat down as the nurse opened a laptop I hadn't seen before.
"Now, I need your age, name, and something look-wise you would want to do." The nurse commanded.
"Um, 10, Etho, and" I paused. What did I want to change? A image slid through my mind, glowing purple eyes. "Eyes that glow like Nebris's!" Her eyes, which had been so hard before, softened at my age.
"Ok, now I'm going to inject this" she gestured at the needle" into you then take you to the surgery room and then you'll wake up in recovery. Ok?"
"Ok." She took the needle and started counting down from three. On two she jammed the needle into the side of my neck. It hurt like fire! Liquid fire raced through my veins. I gritted my teeth trying not to scream. My vision started to blur. The room spun around me. I felt the stretcher start moving. The bright light hurt my eyes, so I closed them. I tried to move my hand up to cover my eyes. It didn't respond. I tried opening my eyes only to find that they weighed more than a car. I started to panic. But I felt my heart beat slow until it came little more than once a minute. My breath slowed too. My mind hazed. I slipped into unconsciousness. I was swimming in darkness. It was peaceful. Nothing to disturb me. Until a man walked towards me. He was tall, with silver hair and a mask tied around his mouth. A red eye cut through the darkness. It was me. But not me. He dipped his head in greeting.
"Hi!" I called out.
"I have something important to tell you." I looked quizzical.
"What?"
"Stay away from Lian." With that, I opened my eyes to stark walls and violet eyes.
