Sooooo... School starts on Tuesday for me, so things will be coming out less often (as if that was possible, seeing as SE stuff still isn't happening quickly for me) But oh well. Writing will still happen, and now, onto this! I was debating an alternate ending, but decided against it. It doesn't fit with the story.

Also, the height in the story is 15 feet instead of the original 30 feet. And YES it is survivable! People have survived much longer falls (like 40-ish feet) without any damage, so why can't Milbee? And even if you disagree, it's (kinda) an alternate universe, so I do what I want!

And without further ado... Enyoy and comment if you liek it!

“Milbee, why are you up there!?” Yelled a large man from the courtyard below the prince. Milbee had been up there, staring in the direction of King Guude’s castle since dawn that morning. Anderz, his close friend and armory manager for the king, was worried about Milbee’s state of mind. He had been extremely distracted since he had returned from his meeting with King Guude.

“I’m just thinking Anderz,” Milbee replied before standing up and turning to face his friend in the courtyard. He was dressed in his more casual clothes, and by that Anderz was wearing a thin white silk shirt under a thick leather tunic. His boots were well crafted and hadn’t worn out since he had gotten them over a year ago.

“Are you gonna come down so I can whoop you when we spar?” Anderz yelled up at Milbee again. Milbee chuckled at his friend, knowing that it wasn’t ‘whooping’ if their matches usually ended up in a draw. He walked to the edge of the roof and got himself ready for the 15-foot descent. And he jumped.

Milbee jumped up as high as he could and tucked his legs in and flipped twice in the air, before opening his body up once again. He spun to face the opposite direction and looked to the ground, which was now about five feet below him and did a quick rotation backwards, and landed, in a backward roll, springing up to his feet immediately. Anderz backed up a few steps, as Milbee was now within inches of his face. Milbee looked over his shoulder to Anderz and grinned his crazy grin and headed over to the far wall to grab two training blades. He tossed one to Anderz, who deftly caught the sword and immediately rushed at Milbee, who just continued toward Anderz at a leisurely pace. And then Anderz was on top of him, lancing his wooden blade down onto Milbee’s exposed neck. But Milbee was ready. He ducked quickly and kicked his legs up behind him, and hit Anderz in the stomach, launching the large armorer into a small fountain. He came up spluttering and gasping for air, and looked annoyed at Milbee, who was now doubled over in laughter.

“Damn it guy!” he yelled angrily to the prince. “I just got clean! And now I’m soaking wet with nasty fountain water!” Milbee wiped a tear from his eye and responded, still chuckling a bit.

“Sorry Anderz. But I defended myself like I always do. I just happened to be in front of a pond this time.” Anderz looked at Milbee once again, this time with skepticism in his gaze. But Milbee put on an air of innocence and looked around, avoiding eye contact with Anderz intentionally. He finally got out and dried off, and so the battling continued. Milbee danced and leaped around Anderz easily, but couldn’t match Anderz long reach and superior strength. And so, like usual, it ended with a blade slashing upwards and landing at Anderz neck and a blade lancing downwards towards Milbee’s skull. They shook hands and put up the training swords and chatted about meaningless things. But Milbee was happy to be free of his sadness. He knew he couldn’t have Pause, so he needed to accept it, he told himself as he made his way up to his quarters to change into appropriate attire to eat with the nobles of his father’s court, who were here to discuss the issues brought up the day before at King Guude’s palace. He was just about to take off his silken shirt when he realized something.

“You know what?” he announced to no one. “I don’t care! I will tell Pause about my feelings and I don’t care if there’s any backlash because fuck it! I need to tell Pause right now!” He quickly changed out of his silken garments that were bad for the long ride he had ahead of him. Instead he grabbed a black, skintight suit that he had designed to allow free movement and compress his muscles so they wouldn’t wear out as quickly. He put it on and looked at it, as it was the first time he had worn it. It was midnight black, as he had asked for, but the man who had made it apparently knew how Milbee enjoyed color in his clothing. There were veins of color running down the side of the arms and legs, and the color met up in the chest, where the colors formed his family’s crest; a dragon with its tail wrapped around a sheep. He looked over it one more time before pulling on a black cloak on over it, but kept the hood down for while he was leaving the castle. He didn’t need to draw unwanted attention. He grabbed his two short swords, combat axe and small travel kit and rushed out the doors, unaware of anyone else there. He didn’t care about anyone else. He needed to go find Pause.

---

Anderz pushed himself up out of the shadowed alcove behind Milbee’s doorway.

“Going to the Kingdom of Mindcrack? Damn guy. He is definitely crazy. I need to stop him before it’s too late…” He trailed off as he approached the more crowded areas of the castle. He got to the stables just a moment too late. Milbee’s horse, Shadow, was gone, and he knew that meant he would never be able to find them before day came. He sighed and mounted his horse and rode off in the direction of the border between their country and Mindcrack.

---

Pause had been in his room all day. He had locked his father, his brother and his servants out and simply lay on his bed, remembering Milbee, any detail he could. He remembered his bright smile and easy temperament. He laughed whenever anything remotely funny was said, and the laugh was adorable. His eyes were lit up with happiness whenever they made eye contact, and he had just stared into their beauty. Milbee’s eyes shown like a rainbow, glowing in colors that many found to be unnatural. Pause just thought it made Milbee even cuter.

A knock at his door broke him away from his thoughts. He heard multiple people call for him, one being his father, worried for him, and another being his brother, who was equally worried. Pause wished they would leave him alone. But one voice soared above the others, one of the servants, who had whispered something to his father.

“King Guude,” the servant had whispered as quietly as he could in the chaotic chorus of voices. “Prince Milbee is at our gates and is requesting to see the prince.” Pause heard this and shot up from his pillows and grabbed a cloak. He heard his father’s steel-toed boots begin their journey away from his doorway, and he burst through the door. He sprinted out and pushed his way through the servants and made his way into the otherwise empty hallway.

“Father!” Pause called out to the king, who was walking briskly to the staircase on the opposite end of the extremely open castle stairwell. King Guude ignored his son, and continued downward, adjusting his cloak. He meant to turn Milbee away, Pause thought, and instantly felt himself fall into a trance similar to how he reacted in battle. He leapt over the ornate quartz railing and landed lightly on the staircase below, in front of his father, who was going down the stairs as fast as he could.

“Pause! You will not see him!” Guude called out, realizing he wouldn’t be able to make it to the door of the castle before his son. “If you see Prince Milbee, I… I will have your brother take the throne instead of you!” Pause’s steps didn’t even falter. Guude knew he wouldn’t get through to his son when he was like that, so he just had to face the reality of the situation.

“Damn it,” he whispered in the spacious stairway. Pause couldn’t see Milbee. Guude knew something was going on between them and he didn’t want Milbee anywhere near his son.
